The Lapis Region
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Pokémon RP → The Lapis Region"Attention all passengers! The ferry will arrive in Pebble Cove within the next half hour. Please make sure you have all your belongings before you leave. Thank you."

The ferry approached the small coastal town, slowly, carrying tourists and trainers. Mainly tourists. Lapis is otherwise known as the Region of stone, named after the gem stones it holds. It's, also, because of this that all the towns and cities in Lapis are named after some sort of stone, jewel or mineral.
Pebble Cove is one of the smaller towns. With only a population of around 100, it's usually pretty quiet. It's also home to Lapis' Pokemon Research Lab, owned by Professor Hawthorn. He isn't the most professional of all the professors, leaving much of his work unfinished, but he's a very generous and friendly character. He's the reason why trainers from foreign regions are allowed to travel Lapis.
The cove is a typical crescent shape, but also terraced. The cove, it'self, is surrounded by tall white cliffs, with the odd blue sparkling stones embedded into them. Sapphires. The cliffs act as a wall, apart from the small opening at the very top of the town. To get there, you have to climb multiple sets of stone stair cases. However, that would be pointless as there is a regional guard who prevents any trainers from passing, until they have their trainer's license.
There really isn't much else in Pebble Cove. The Port, a Pokemon center, a Poke Mart and some small cafes. Oh, and the Lab, of course. The lab is unmissable. The biggest building in the cove. You'll know as soon as you see it. But despite it's outer looks, you'll be pretty shocked by the inside... And it's not really a good shock.

"Come on Pearl! We're already late!" says a green haired teen, pulling at the unevenly tied, red bow around her collar.
The rock-dog Pokemon came running from somewhere in the home, the kitchen most likely, where the food is kept. Meanwhile, the female fiddled with her hair, eventually deciding just to tie it up into two ponytails - like normal. She sighs. The stress was already getting to her and she hadn't even left the house yet.
"Luckily the port is only a five minute run from here," she mumbles to herself, mentally shuddering at the word 'run'.
She was not a runner, nor a jogger. She, simply, just liked to travel at her own pace. The girl grabbed a belt, which had six PokeBalls attached to it, and fastened it around her waist, where it fell to one side where the PokeBalls weighed it down. The darn thing never properly fitted her, and she'd forgotten to get it adjusted. Oh well. She, also, grabbed her bag; Thankfully, she'd packed that yesterday, so that was one less thing for her to worry about. After travelling once before, she'd packed: a tent, spare clothes, money, both human and Pokemon food and the essentials (i.e. Toothbrush, hairbrush, etc.). Surprisingly, it did all fit and was carry-able.
After one last check over, she said good-bye to her parents and headed straight for the port. The ferry would be her any minute. In fact, she could see it just coming into the bay. Both, the girl and her Pokemon, ran as fast as they could to meet the Professor's guests.
(I think Zura is going to act differently at different times right now he's just board and wants some quiet.)
Kura had just made it to the front of the as the ferry came in. She walked up the boat, as people piled off, and scoured for the people she was supposed to be meeting. She had no clue of who they were or where they'd come from. All she got from the Professor was:
"There's three people I want you to guide around Lapis. Pick them up from the port next week, okay?"
And now it was a week later, with Pearl sitting and panting at her feet, Kura scanned through the crowd coming from the ferry, in hopes of finding the three.
"Toge, Togepi?" Her starter questioned her, looking at her in worry. Corrie smiled and patted the Pokemon, reaussing her of her health.
The Pokemon looked up at its trainer, tilting her head and making a purring sound.
"Of course they will be. I've never met anyone from outside of our region before. So... Maybe I'll learn just as much from them as they, hopefully, learn from me."
So she didn't have much to do besides wait for them to pick her up, Togepi nestled in her arms all the while.
