Hey there, guys.

First of all: Yes, this will be a post where I release a bit of steam.
So lets get to the point:

How often has it occured to you that you were bidding on a specific Pokemon (preferably one you REALLY wanted) and someone overbid you last-second (maybe with just 1PD)?

Happened to me a lot recently, tbh, so here's my idea:

You can set a max-amount of PD you'd want to bid on a Pokemon. For example:
User A sets up Mega-able Beedrill for 75k PD
User B sets max-amount to 100k PD. The new highest bid is now 75.001PD (over the desired 75k and under the max-amount)

Now this happens:
User C tries to "steal" that Beedrill last second and bets 75.002PD.
The highest bid will not change to 75.002PD from User C, but instead to 75.003PD from User B (cause he has set a max-amount he'd like to bet). User B gets his Pokemon and User C gets his money back.

In case 2 (or more people) set a max-amount, the higher amount would win (if User C would have bid 101k, the new highest bid would have been 100.001PD).

Only backdraw would be if some rich person would always max-bet 1kk PD or something like that. I think that's unlikely, but is bound to happen.

In my opinion this would prevent some somewhat ragy moments. So now it's up to you. Opinion? Suggestions? Let me hear that stuff ;)

Sorry for this but I don't support this idea.

It's actually fun when you bid on the last second. That is what auction is. And then obviously everybody would want it if it is something very rare like a ditto or something~

No need to apologize :D It's a suggestion, nothing more.

For me personally it's just frustrating to get jacked from a small overbidding at the last second with no means to do anything against it (besides bidding even more money ofc).

Thanks for your opinion! :)

First of all, I will be honest and say I am a person bidding in the last seconds only.
BUT
I don't bet like 1Pd more, that is plain stupid. I'll make sure I will have the highest bid because I have to overcome other "last second people".
Sniping can be annoying but if a person really wants to win an auction, just bid your maximum amount of Pd you are willing to spent and you won't lose no matter what happens.

I'm a little confused so I'd like to ask a question if that's alright.

Are you suggesting a way to "Auto-bid" for you if you're getting sniped?

I'm talking about a kinda-deposit, that will "secure" a low-overbid-snipe.

So basically, yep.

Instead of this, which would make it harder for poorer people to participate in auctions, you should try to find one of the several snipe guard threads out there. What they suggest is a way to prevent the last second bids that snipe the auction to allow the other people who had bids on it a chance to counter bid. (Like push the auction out a minute or two if someone snipes it, but only the first time someone tries to snipe it)

That way if it's something you really want, you can go put a higher bid on it if someone tried to snipe you, but it wouldn't let the auction carry on forever.

I can't really support this since I am a sniper as well, it's a very fun part of this site testing your wits and knowledge of prices against other players. I'd despise it if this was automated.

You should definitely think of the AH as a game of tactics;

Bid early and show your interest in the pokemon and someone else will check your profile/Dex and see how much PDs you've got to spend & if you already have the pokemon or not so they can make a good guess on how to outbid you more easily.

Bid late and then it's a sniping game between 2 strangers who know nothing about each other now. IF you are not too greedy and bid a reasonable amount then you will win the snipe every time.

You have to make a tactical guess at what is reasonable to pay to ensure some profit, and what others might be willing to pay if they really need that pokemon.

If you don't win the snipe then the same pokemon will probably come back on the AH in the next hour or maybe the next day maybe if it's a rarer one so patience is key.

So bottom line is never to get upset or angry or too greedy, just learn from it and go for the next pokemon that comes along, the user who really wanted it already has it - so you have a better chance already.
