(Author's Note: This is mainly a comedy. Yes I'm sharing some of my political views for this. Please don't mock. Thanks.)

Hello, my name is Otomra, and I'd like to be your president.
Today I'll talk about gun laws and gun safety. So let's get started!
Hillary Clinton says all guns should be banned, and the criminals should turn themselves in. I say that is dumb. She is dumb. She is also a hypocrite.
She claims no one should have a gun but her guards can have guns.
If you elect me, I'll have you take a gun safety test every year. If you do not pass, you can not buy more guns or ammo.
Every gun owner must go to a school to learn how to shoot a gun safely and properly.
Now each teacher in a school should have a gun put in a safe. If a criminal attacks, they can pull it out and protect the kids.
We should have guns in schools to protect our children. Our children are our future, and we must protect and die for this future if we must.
We have destroyed America, and they will have to fix it, but we should attempt to make it easier for them.
Let's fix America for our future!

May I ask some follow-up questions, sir Otomra?

Quote from RickyJohnsonIf you elect me, I'll have you take a gun safety test every year. If you do not pass, you can not buy more guns or ammo.

How would this be regulated? How would you make sure every gun owner takes the test? Furthermore, you say people who fail couldn't buy more guns or ammo. What about the ones they already own? Is there a chance to retake the test and if so, how long the waiting time would be?

Quote from RickyJohnsonEvery gun owner must go to a school to learn how to shoot a gun safely and properly.

How long would this school take? For some gun owners, this school might be a little useless and a waste of time since, believe it or not, some gun owners are actually responsible and know their stuff. So would there be a way to prove your proficiency and skip this school?

Quote from RickyJohnsonNow each teacher in a school should have a gun put in a safe. If a criminal attacks, they can pull it out and protect the kids.

So for this to be logical with your previous statements, every teacher would have to be trained in firearm use and gun safety? Regardless of their own beliefs or whether they're comfortable with guns or not?

I'm pretty sure a lot of parents would have something to say about their kids being surrounded by guns daily. What would you do to assure people this would be safe? Can you make this safe? What if unstable students manage to get their hands on those guns in school? Could this potentially increase the amount of school shootings?

And few more points:

These test and schools and training you're planning must cost quite a bit to arrange. How are you planning on funding this all? Where does the money come from?

A huge portion of firearm violence is done with illegal and unregistered guns so your ideas wouldn't do much to help with those. Do you have any ideas to help prevent the flow of illegal guns?

That is all, dear presidential candidate.

Hope to hear back from you soon,
Finny

(Yeah, I know you're not 100% serious with this but let's play pretend a bit longer. Maybe you can further develop your ideas and stuff if you think about some of the things I pointed out. :b)

snapchienne-Thank you very much for your support. Remember,

Finhawk- Thank you for addressing your concerns, now I'll clear up some things for you.

For the tests, it is to make sure that they can still safely use a gun in society. The ones they already own can be kept, however we'll have to ask a family member to watch after those who failed. Yes you can retake the test whenever you schedule an appointment, thus everyone chooses a date that works. The shooting part will have six people per group, while the cleaning part has twelve. If you can't fire a gun in a shooting range to hit the target, or clean the gun properly, reschedule. You can take the test three times in one year.

As for number two on your list of concerns, if you can pass both tests with 90% or higher, or show proof that you are or were part of the military or police, you don't need to go to this school. The school will last two months and you only need to go once. If you pass you'll get a diploma and a small card with your picture on it that says you passed.

Yes every teacher would. I put this rule through research. If the school has guns, 90% of the shootings stop with little to no casualties. I also saw gun free zones have had an increase in shootings over the years. In thirty years alone it has raised by about 15%.
Parents have the right to be concerned. If they don't have a concern, I'd be concerned. Yes a mentally unstable kid can get a hold of a gun, but if that is the case all you have to do is push a panic button and all the teachers, principal, and staff know that something is wrong, all the students should be in class with a teacher, and they'll need their guns. Any staff member without students is to rush to their aid.

Now for your other points.

It will cost quite a bit, and I will not lie, we will be using tax money. I will not increase taxes. We'll change our spending habits. Before we send money out to other countries we must fix and help this country.

I admit a huge portion of fire arm violence is with illegal weapons, however Finny, imagine if ninety percent of these crimes were stopped because a good person with a gun could stop them.

Thank you Finny. Remember,
Let's fix America for our future!

Thank you for your reply, it indeed helped clear some things up.

I'm not convinced family members can be trusted with such a task in every case and what if the person has no immediate family that is able to keep an eye on them? Otherwise, this seems legit enough.

This seems rather fine to me, thanks.

Oh, I see. I guess that makes sense in a way. I'll have to look into this on my own as well. I can't help thinking that being proficient in safely handling a gun is a strange thing to require from a teacher though.

Legit point, sir. My remaining concern here is the possibility of trigger happy people.

(I could ask you how you'd change to spending habits and what good old 'Murica would have to sacrifice but I'm guessing that would just be splitting hairs and being an annoyance. :b)

Quote from RickyJohnsonI admit a huge portion of fire arm violence is with illegal weapons, however Finny, imagine if ninety percent of these crimes were stopped because a good person with a gun could stop them.

You do have a point there. However, this also means you're going for the 'fight fire with fire' -tactic? Which I do admit can work sometimes.

Thank you for your answer, it has been a pleasure talking to you,
Finny
