Desire smiled. "We'll get acquainted later." She said before Arin
left. She pulled out her sketch pad and began to draw on her new,
organized bed. She sketched out a dragon will clear scales, so you
could see it's detailed organs.
Arin repeated an order to a Mouse furry lady, with a business dress
on. "So, a fresh latte with a grilled cheese sandwich?" She said,
and the lady nodded to me. She wrote it down and gave it to a chef.
She looked back at her, and spoke. "Your order will be done in a
bit." She said, and the lady nodded, finding a seat and pulling out
a laptop to type. 'Must be a law student' She thought,
before shouting "Next person can come over here!" She smiled at the
next person in line, before sighing a bit.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
Zylen walked into Starbarks, his bag half-hanging off of his
shoulders as he looked distantly down at his phone, where a map was
displayed. 'I can't believe I missed three of my alarms this
morning...' he thought with a scowl and an angry lash of his
tail. He had planned to move in to his new dorm room early in the
day, but had overslept, and was now left with a car full of hastily
packed boxes and no idea where he was supposed to go. Coffee
sounded like the best solution at the moment.
Glancing up, he noted the length of the line, and started playing a
game on his phone. This distracted him enough that he didn't notice
when he had reached the front of the line, still scowling down at
his phone and frantically tapping the screen.
Arin took more and more orders, till there was only one more guy in
the line, who was tapping away on his phone. "Umm, sir? It's your
turn..." She said with a bit of shyness, worried she would make him
angry by interrupting whatever he was doing. She leaned over the
counter and stretched out her arm, tapping the top of the phone
softly.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
Zy looked up from his phone, startled by the sudden tap that made
it jolt in his hands. For a brief moment, he felt his hands clench
and his pulse race in annoyance, before noticing where he was.
"Oh, uh... sorry, time for my order, right?" He gave what he hoped
was a reassuring smile to the wolf-girl in front of him, before
staring blankly up at the menu. "What's good... is the iced coffee
good? I guess I'll try that."
He reached into the athletic bag that was hanging off of his
shoulders, scratching around on the inside to try to find his cash.
"Yeah, it's pretty good. So what size? Small, Medium, or Large?"
Arin asked, pointing to the display cups as she said their size.
She looked at him, tilting her head.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
After rummaging around in his bag for a moment, Zylen pulled out a
small handful of cash, smiling victoriously.
"Okay! So, this should pay for... a medium sized coffee," he
decided after consulting the menu. He slid the money across the
counter with one paw before running the other nervously through his
messy dark hair.
"Are you familiar with the nearby college campus? I just
transferred here from another university, and I have no idea where
I'm supposed to go," he said with a shrug.
"I... not really, actually. I'm new there as well, but I think I
have something to help. There's an app on the website you can
download, and it's like a little GPS. It tells you what classes to
go to, and guides you there. It's called A m a r a C a m e l l i a
s directions." Arin explained as she took the money and slipped it
into the cash register. She wrote down the order and handed it to a
man who worked in the kitchen. "Your order will be done in a few
minutes." She said, flashing him a smile.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"Thanks, I'll check it out," Zylen said with a smile as his
attention was drawn back down to his phone. He did, however, notice
there was someone in line behind him, and moved off to the side so
she could place her order. Leaning against the counter near the
area where people could add milk or sugar to their drink, he
noticed how close he had been to beating his friend's high score in
the game he had been playing.
"Finding my classes can wait..." He started tapping
frantically at his phone screen again, tuning out the rest of the
world.
Arin nodded at Zylen, and called out "Next!" 'Alright, last
order before the end of my shift unless someone comes in the next 5
minutes.' She thought, tapping her paw/fingers along the
counter, letting out a long sigh.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
"Alrighty, that will be 2 dollars and fifty cents~..." Arin said,
writing down the order. She glanced up and saw a longer line
forming behind the girl, and let out a resounding sigh, before
wiping her eyes.
”Hello There! I am Alter Ego, your
technological guide!"
