For the most part, I see no use for it. However, there may be a few rare cases with Mega Pokemon. Say a naive user evolves his or her Mega-able Slowpoke into Slowking. It'd kind of stink losing a Mega Pokemon like that. Other than that, I don't think this is needed.

On the comment about making it harder to get certain items from boxes/rumbles/treasure hunt, I would like to clarify that, like the ever stone, it would be classified as an evolution item. Meaning that the chance wouldn't change for probability of finding other items, as it seems like the chances are done by deciding what section you get first, then it decides what item you get.

So if you're talking about the treasure hunt game, it would lessen the chances of getting a mega-stone by a tiny bit, because the mega-stone is classified as an evolution item as well, but if you are talking about maps, fossils, gems, event points, or nuggets from boxes, adding this item wouldn't change the probability of getting any of those items at all. They aren't evolution items, so the chances for them would stay 100% the same.

However, getting an evolution item, such as a sun stone, reaper cloth, shiny stone, etc from the boxes would drop a hair while getting the new item gets added into the mixture.

And, as I have already said, it is something that is already in official pokemon merchandise, and to prevent abuse, it can only be used one time per pokemon, so everstones would still be more valuable to keep the reverted stage.

As Miss-X said, mega-ables would be a fair reason for this (Slowpoke -> Slowking, then realizing that it can't mega-evolve anymore. Or Male Ralts -> Gardevoir, but wanted Mega Gallade)

And there are times when I get a pokemon, and I have gotten many of the same pokemon to try and get the first two stages, but because people interact so much, they wind up evolving BEFORE I can ever stone them. (I am missing Catercream and the Metapod evolution for this very reason. I have obtained at least ten catercream in my time on PH, but every single time, before I can put an ever stone on it in minutes, it's evolved all the way up to Buttercream. The devolution item would help me get that dex entry without wasting my time even more than I already have with it)

This is not a means to replace ever stones, but a means as a safety in evolution. Heck, I'd even go so far as to say that it could be useful for people with OCs. Have the right gender, right nature, Shiny or non-shiny, and the character is perfect, yet you forgot what level it evolved at, or remembered the level it evolved at in a previous game, and before you can ever stone it to keep it that way for good, it evolves, and now you're stuck with a pokemon that is no longer that character.
Now, either you have to hunt for that specific species, gender, nature, and shininess, or you have to put up with the horrid evolution of your character into what they are not.

If this was added, it would give a way for the owner to rectify the situation, then stone them before they evolve again.

@Reklaw476 Just gonna point out that Latias, like Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza, mega evolves by HOLDING a special item. In this case, the Enigma pearl.

You can take the enigma pearl off at any time to make it non-mega

---

While I support, I don't think it should apply to already mega-evolved pokemon.

When you mega evolve it, you've made a choice to give it the mega stone, one of the most expensive items on site. Changing your mind after is kinda...eh?

----

So as long as people can't un-evolve megas, that would be perfect :3

AHH yes, and it was suggested here before, and it was in the results when I typed "devolve" into the search bar (there aren't that many to look through tbh)

If you can read this, you know how to read.

@TheBroDarkLord - For 'settings' this would work, as settings are something personal, and other users have no influence on how you deal with 'alarms' and which notifications you do or don't see.

For items, it wouldn't work. If users can choose not to get certain items, they'd have a (slightly) bigger chance of getting other items from the same category. And if it's implemented for one item, users will start to suggest it being implemented for other items, which would make 'common', 'uncommon' and 'rare' categories entirely user-dependent and the market just one big mess.

For the suggestion itself - I wouldn't mind seeing this implemented; though, I have to ask - would we get the item of an item-evolution back? I've seen mention of reversing slowking back to slowpoke ('cause mega-able) as an example, but would we get the King's Rock back, if we reverse the evolution, or would that item be lost, as the initial intention was to evolve it, even though we changed our mind later on?

And would there a time limit or can we reverse an evolution, no matter how long ago it happened?

(And I feel it would be better to continue the discussion here, as the initial suggestion was fleshed out more here and voting didn't exist when the first suggestion was made)

I think there should be no time limit on when you can revert a pokemon, as in the side games or TCG, there doesn't seem to be a limit on when the item can be used.

So if you evolve it, then three years down the road decide to undo it, it should be allowed to be undone.

As for item evolutions: The item was used up in the evolution. When it is undone, the item is not returned, lost forever. The reason for this is because I imagine evolution items as having an energy within them that reacts with certain pokemon. When they evolve, this energy is used up and the container for the evolution item breaks. When reverted, the energy has nowhere to return to, so is just released into the environment.

But that's just my personal headcanon on the matter, lol.

And I am posting on this again because another good reason for wanting this came up:
Catching a shiny from the Honey Tree. Sometimes they evolve before you get the chance to put an everstone on them, even when you go straight to do it from the tree itself. This means if you wanted a Wurmple, you show up and have a Beautifly or Dustox, and now you're stuck with that form.

If the item were implemented, then you get another chance to keep it at the evolution stage you want it at.
