Recently, i've started to think about how to keep people from posting in threads before they are even accepted, or posting in a 1x1, and i think this would be a pretty good idea

Anyways, when making/editing the first post of the thread, you could have the option to include the link and name of the user that is allowed to post in the thread, and you can remove that user if they start causing trouble in the RP.... This would help cut down on spam, and result in less posts having to be deleted

Sorry if this has been suggested before!

Any thoughts or ideas to add to this would be greatly appreciated!

I don't support, this'll give users waaay too much control over the forums. They can't even delete or lock their own threads, so why should they stop users from posting on them? It isn't very difficult to report a user or ask a mod to delete a few posts, and that's a part of their job anyway, so you'd be taking it away from them :p You should first PM that user and ask them to not post until accepted.

No support for reasons Tina said. After all that's why we have mods, to prevent people who aren't allowed to post somewhere from posting, deleting messages that shouldn't be in places, etc. etc.

If a problem occurs in RPing or something PM a mod. I've spoken to them and trust me they aren't scary, they aren't like the jerk mods on other sites that act like they don't have time for the common folk haha. Let them do their job and if you see someone breaking rules or spamming your threads, send the mod a PM

I can see your point there, MegaShadowSamurott. But if you basically don't allow people to post in your RP before they are accepted, how could they even apply to it?

Mirej - I think he means for 1x1 RPs, so that only the person who ALREADY joined could post.

That said, I don't support for the other reasons stated. The moderators already do a good job of deleting posts, and there isn't really a need to keep said posts from being made in the first place, especially given how childish certain users are.

@Mirej: They could always PM the form, or ask to be added to the list

@CarpetMonster: True, but Moderators aren't always on, and some 1x1s go too fast to really keep track of

If someone posts in a thread that they shouldn't be, you can PM a moderator. I still don't support. As I said, a lot of users would abuse this, even if it was just restricted to the RP forum.
