So when trying to put Japanese on my profile (ヘタリア:アライド・と軸)
(Hetalia: Allied and Axis), it always ends up saying ??????????
instead, and it truly bugs me. However, If Riako can try to
implement foreign letters with the exception to emotis (because
there are a BUNCH of them), that would make me happy. Or if it's
just something else other than a suggestion, you can ignore
this.
But try to at least make foreign speakers (like me) have some
control over their own language that doesn't include letters, like
Russian, Chinese and Japanese.
Well you should know better not to swear and not everyone speaks a
foreign language, nor do people bust out the translator to catch
swearers. If you speak that foreign language and you catch a swear,
then report them. Nobody who speaks english is going to be able to
detect a Japanese swear unless they speak japanese, like for
example, i know how to say the japanese no-no version of "Dang it"
so i'd be able to report that user for a swear (even though i dont
really consider that a swear word to be honest so i don't usually
deal with that)
Long story short, they should know better and they could still get
in trouble for swearing. i mean not everyone on the site speaks
english very well either so they might not know what an english
swear is.
As Shenzi said, not everyone speaks Japanese or Chinese or Spanish
or some other language. This site is mainly in English, but those
types of characters already work perfectly fine in the forums, the
pal pad, and feeds.
Now let's think, that if someone puts all or part of their "About
Me" in another language, only the people who speak that language
would be able to easily understand it without translator. People
could always look up a translator, but translators are not perfect,
and some things may translate weirdly.
It is just easier for the majority of people for other people's
About Me's to be in English, so that they can read it.
I mean, I wouldn't necessarily use the feature, all swear-potential
aside, but I wouldnt mind it if it makes someone more comfortable
to speak their native language. If someone wants to write the
lyrics to attack on titan in Japanese characters in their about me,
let them. I mean, freedom of speech in America right?
Eh, neutral.
The only reason I would support this is so I can put symbols.
And yea that's it. But it really won't bother me anyway, if I ever
want to type some kind of foreign letters I will just take a
picture or something. True, not everyone can do this but I'm just
saying it wouldn't affect me because I can do it if I want to so i
don't need this to be implemented but it would cerntainly makes it
easier. I'm neutral, really.
