Hawkpaw looked up at his mentor. "Oh I found you!" He mewed
excitedly. "You promised we'd do some training today! But I
overslept and then Nightfeather dragged me out of the den and
reminded me and then I found Adderpaw laying on his back in the
forest and Snowpaw helped him to the medicine cat's den, or well
she was suppose to and then I came looking for you again!" He said
all in one breath, and was currently catching it again.
Mudrain didn't say anything; he only nodded. "It's fine,
Nightfeather. I'm more for speed than strength, so I wouldn't last
long in the ocean anyway even if I tried." Stormflight mewed,
noticing a spark of guilt in her brother's eyes. "Anyway... get a
nice rest?" She asked him. "I guess. I'm probably gonna stay off
the beach though." He replied, yawning a little.
Snowpaw sighed. "Are you sure you got it?" She asked Adderpaw just
to make sure. "Err.. never mind."
"Take it easy Hawkpaw, I don't want you to suffocate to death. I
noticed earlier, but I didn't want to wake you. We can train now if
you want." Raccoonmask replied. "Glad to see your apprentice so
eager to train, that brought back some memories." Cinderstar
chuckled, earning a flustered glance from the grey warrior.
"D-don't worry about what he says, Cinderstar is getting pretty
old!" He replied, attempting to get revenge on their leader.
"What is it Snowpaw?" Adderpaw asked, stopping and glancing at the
she-cat. He was still a bit embarrassed because of her worrying.
Nightfeather shrugged and just nodded. "Well you should definitely
play to your strengths. Sleep well Mudrain." Her tail flicked
behind her, watching the two interact. It reminded her of her own
mouse brain brother who was gone for a while now actually. Well he
was a grown cat, he can look after himself.
Hawkpaw grinned widely, "Then lets go!" He bounded up onto his
paws, itching to get going. After today he would be one step closer
to becoming a warrior. "How is it that you can make fun of
Cinderstar without getting...hurt?" He asked innocently, turning
his head slightly to the side.
"Err... I already did, but..." Mudrain sighed. "You gonna go hunt
again?" Stormflight said somewhat sleepily. "Nah, there's cats out
there anyway." He shook his head. "I guess I should quit bothering
you then. I didn't get much sleep anyway." The warrior padded back
to the den to rest. "That's partly why I don't hunt in the ocean."
Stormflight muttered.
Snowpaw blinked. "Um... it doesn't matter anymore, I guess..." She
said and turned to leave. "Bye." She said quickly and padded out of
camp. Maybe Cinderstar could teach her something. Or maybe I'll
just go for a walk...? She thought, shaking off her slight
embarrassment.
Nightfeather stretched herself out. "Mmm. It's also why we land
cats tend to live longer." She chuckled. "Starclan know's whats out
there in those waters." She flexed her claws slightly, digging them
into the soil. "Would you like to come hunting with me
Stormflight?"
Stormflight mentally agreed with Nightfeather. Her brother could
die any day now from hunting in the water, but he still went to do
it anyway. Besides, he never liked hunting on land. She looked up
and nodded with a slight spark of eagerness in her eyes. "Yeah.
Anything to get me out of camp."
(Drat, I'm sorry. Hit me next time it happens haha ;) )
"Great." She mewed, smiling as well. "Lets get out of here for a
bit." She stood up to her paws and stretched out her legs before
heading towards the forest.
Wolfclaw was dragging another rabbit by the fur into camp. "Oh you
two lazy warriors are finally going out to do something? About
time." He plopped the rabbit into the fresh kill pile and padded
over to them.
Stormflight rolled her eyes at Wolfclaw. "Nothing much else to do
around here." She replied, padding to the forest. "You gonna join
us?" She asked the warrior, excited to hunt.
"Of course I will. Someone has to protect your poor girls." He
smiled widely at them both and headed toward the forest. "I'll show
you where I've been having a lot of luck finding food."
Nightfeather sighed and followed after him. "Don't praise him too
much, you'll inflate his ego."
Stormflight gave a short nod. "I can take care of myself, thank
you," she meowed. The she-cat took a drink of the air for any signs
of prey. She scented a rabbit and snapped her attention to it.
There it was--the somewhat undersized animal sitting a few
fox-lengths away out in the open. She instantly took off, giving
chase to the rabbit and dashing after it for a few seconds before
managing to catch and finish off the speedy thing. She buried it
for the time being and looked up. "So, can you beat that?"
