I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen, but when I comment on my own feed, I see a notification, and when I click on the icon, it shows a red 'NEW' next to the feed, even though I'm the only person that commented.

I'm pretty sure this is intentional. You get a notification for any new comment, even if that comment is yours.
