GUESS THAT POKEMON!!!
Forum-Index → Suggestions → GUESS THAT POKEMON!!!Also, I support the footprint thing! Although, I'm not very familiar with the footprints xD
In regards to the argument that it's "selfish" to reject a suggestion because it's too easy, it's not at all selfish and it is very different from the example provided.
> Coinflip is luck-based. While it is "easy" to do your part, there is no way to guarantee victory.
> Recognizing silhouettes is skill-based. When it is easy to do something skill-based, it is possible to guarantee victory.
> With Coinflip, you have the potential to lose GC when you lose the game.
> With GUESS THAT POKEMON!!!, you have no potential to lose anything even if you lose the game.
> With GUESS THAT POKEMON!!!, you can easily get infinite GC.
> It does actually negatively affect people by reducing the value of the GC prizes. People who already put in the effort are being undermined by this sudden way to get them with time but almost no effort or luck.
Lastly, for the aforementioned reasons, I also won't support having footprints as an optional "hard mode" if it means having the silhouette mode at all, because the latter is too easy and, as explained above, makes it far too easy to get GC prizes, including the currently valuable Shiny Legendary Beasts and Shiny Manaphy.
In summation:
This does simplify an existing feature in an unnecessary and unfair way (unfair to the people who already did put in the hard work), and I support, as stated previously, exclusively the footprint mode and will not at all support the mode that involves Pokémon silhouettes as a means to obtain GC.
However, the factor that it is impossible to really lose anything is kind of a bad example against it considering the worst that can happen in Hangman is you lose the progress on the word and have to wait *gasp* 30 seconds before you try again! You could even "cheat" and create a list of words you've seen with a list of pokemon and items and just look for patterns that match what you've guessed so far.
If you ask me, it's harder to learn the footprints (considering there isn't any real easy to access list that has all of the footprints next to the pokemon as far as I know) than to just pull up a list or spam click coinflip until you reach 2mil (I've done it before).
Title: Okay But Not Okay
It's to catch auto clickers also bump
@carpet It would only give small amounts of game chips an I'm sure riako can use a little of his magic coding to make it harder like making u type it out /and or having timed
@Carpet, by your argument, "Recognizing silhouettes is skill-based. When it is easy to do something skill-based, it is possible to guarantee victory." this would put the Royal Tunnel into the same category.
However, your statement is false. Not all silhouettes, nor the royal tunnel, is easy even with tons of practice. (Just look at me. Been here since May 2nd last year, and I STILL haven't been able to make it past the Advanced Path. -_-") It may be skill-based, but as with anything that requires skill, anyone who is able to obtain it should be able to reap the rewards.
Coin-flip may be luck based, but have you ever sat there, watching tv or a movie, constantly flipping for 2 or more hours? Most likely, players would still be able to earn more GCs with coin-flip than with the silhouettes/footprints since there would be more variety and lower quantity in the prizes won.
Footprints. I would wont them as a part of the game, mixed between silhouettes and footprints randomly and not a separate thing to add more of a challenge.
Lastly, about the silhouettes themselves. Who says it has to be official are work? Riako could ask for art submissions of pokemon only, no backgrounds and no items unless a pokemon is normally seen with a certain item with it. Or, if official art is wanted, well, find where you can watch the tv series online, pause there and there, take some screenshots, cutout the pokemon, and we could have that jigglypuff joke!
