"You, too, were quite helpful," Salamence said gratefully. "Now...
If the Flygon were outside of the Dungeon, they must be bosses."
Probably guarding the Haze Relic. "Where are they
now...?"
As if on cue, two Flygon swooped down, using Dragonbreath.
Salamence reflexively used Protect, though he was unused to having
a partner and was unsure if Grovyle would also be shielded well
enough.
(Would you like to be one or both of the Flygon? ^^)
Salamence used Dragon Tail to knock Flygon away from Grovyle before
it could attack him, but the thick haze made it hard to see.
"Grovyle, please hold them off for a short while! There's a special
Berry around here that will help to clear the haze so we can see!
It'll be far easier to fight when our enemies can't hide!"
Salamence scanned the area for any plants he could find. He hoped
that the rumors were true; the Berry would be a great help in his
quest, not just this one fight. When he saw the spiky, green fruit,
he was immediately relieved. "Just a moment more!!" he called to
Grovyle as he snatched one up and consumed it. The power of the sky
washed over him as he used Twister to dispel the dark haze. Even if
he knew it wouldn't last long, he was also relieved as his wing
felt a surge of energy. He might be able to take flight if he was
careful and timed it well enough, though he knew it could wear off
at any moment and his crippled wing would be unable to support him.
Salamence used Twister once more on the two Flygon, drawing them
closer and doing supereffective Dragon-type damage to them both.
"We should be nearly finished!" Out of the corner of his eye, he
spotted a bizarre, black crystal - the Haze Relic. Then, my task
will be complete.
Using Dragon Claw, Salamence finished the other. "Thank you for
your help, Grovyle," he thanked. "These Flygon weren't as powerful
as I expected. You must've done better than you realized when they
first ambushed you to weaken them so."
"How odd," Salamence said. "If you don't mind, this crystal is the
reason I came here. It isn't 'treasure' in the traditional sense; I
can't sell it, or use it for anything other than its intended
purpose, so unfortunately there's no way to really share it. Is it
alright if I take it?"
"Unfortunately, that is information that I must withhold,"
Salamence said apologetically. "As you may remember, I was working
alone and only allied with you as a spontaneous decision halfway
through this dungeon. I don't believe we've been together long
enough for me to reveal the specifics of my mission. I hope you
understand."
Salamence nodded. "Do take care, and be wary of further ambushes!"
He picked up the Haze Relic and put it in the Treasure Bag. "Oh!!
W-wait! Please wait!" he called to Grovyle when he spotted the
Berry plant again.
"No," Salamence replied. "Rather, I think you may need something."
He picked several of the spiky, green Berries, went over to
Grovyle, and showed them to him. "This is a Salac Berry. It
contains the power of the sky; if a Flying-type Pokémon eats one,
said Pokémon will acquire great power over the wind for a short
time. That's how I was able to dispel the haze with just a Twister
attack, and why I was able to use my broken wing, even if just for
a few minutes. In addition, any Pokémon that eats it will increase
in Movement Speed. It could prove helpful for any Dungeon explorer.
Since this is the only place where Salac Berries grow, I thought
that it may prove helpful; you did, after all, help me to get here,
so what spoils can be shared most certainly should be. In short,
please take these as an apology for my refusal to give you the Haze
Relic."
"It... depends. As you know, there are some things that I cannot
reveal. However, only when you ask will I know if I can answer,"
Salamence said. "So yes, you may ask me something; however, I will
say now that I may not be able to give a satisfactory response."
