Quinn looked upwards in distress, sighing. "I know. But on the
off-chances that she didn't lash out... Justin, Lyra was a good
friend of mine. Not to mention I'm military trained... I can handle
this stuff. I understand the psychological stress that this
hellhole puts on people, but there's got to be some good in her! Am
I being too naive?" She brushed her bangs to the side slightly,
even though they bounced back anyways.
justin felt a weight in his chest as guilt built up and he looked
away, closing his eye's so he wouldn't have to look her in the
eye's. i'm so sorry quinn....! but it had to be done, there's too many
of us as it is and some wounded, but with the history she's
apparently got with the other's it's better to leave her for
someone else to kill then having you watch her death by one of the
other's here...! i'm only trying to protect you, even if i end up
seeming selfish for doing so! he thought, clenching his teeth
as he fought back any tear's, hating to see her so upset.
Crysia leaped to her feet, grabbing her sword. The strong smell of
smoke flooded the room, a thick smell that felt almost suffocating.
She could hear the flickering and low growling of fire in the
distance, a soft orange light glowing from the window. "We need to
get out," she hissed, surprisingly calm in the situation.
jade looked up and looked at the window, horrified as she seen the
light outside and smelled the smoke.
she coughed and covered her face.
dexter woke up and looked at crysia, then held adriane bridal style
as he got up, making sure he had both weapons and his and her
supplies with him.
justin looked up at crysia then glanced at the window.
''quinn we need to get going'' he said, getting up while helping
her up and grabbed they're supplies and weapons.
Quinn pulled her shirt up over her nose for precautions, looking
over her shoulder as she rushed down the stairs with the others.
We're only on the fourth floor. The fire seems to be coming from
upwards... we should be fine, she thought, reassuring herself.
Being the last one to exit the room, Quinn glanced around briefly.
The shocked eyes of a teen Nova locked with hers, a shaking pistol
aimed towards her head. Quinn lowered her weapon, nodding her head
towards the staircase. It's not like he could've made that shot,
anyways, she thought as the Nova unwillingly followed behind
her.
"I think we've walked for enough," Crysia murmured, her sword
hanging loosely by her side. She plopped down beside the light
stream, running her fingers to the water and pressing them lightly
against her cheek. Quinn coughed a bit before sitting down next to
Crysia, "Prolly the Lux. They wouldn't want us to have such a nice
shelter, would they?" Her strangely-colored eyes narrowed in pure
spite.
(hmm..... *puts hands together as starts plotting something
evil*)
Dexter slowed down and breathed heavily, carefully sitting down
while setting Adrian in his lap and cleared everything to the side
off of her, then started to check if she was alright.
''no of course not, they're savage and cruel people....'' he
grumbled.
Justin coughed as he stopped and and hit himself in the chest a
bit.
Jade soon stopped and leaned against a tree, gripping her shoulder
while cursing silently under her breathe.
''this bite's....'' she muttered.
Quinn inhaled sharply, her face warring between distress and fear
as she bolted to Justin's side. She took him by the upper arm, a
bit too tightly, and cocked her head to look him in the eye. "Are
you okay?" She murmured, looking back at Fox. He pushed himself off
of a tree and handed her the container of water, which she lightly
put in Justin's hand.
Justin took the container of water from Quinn and took a few sips
from it.
''i-i'm fine....'' he mumbled.
Dexter seen that Adrian was alright and sighed in relief, running
his hand through his hair.
Jade sat down and coughed a bit.
''we need a safe place to camp and sleep...'' she mumbled.
".. Alright," he murmured, trusting her words. Crysia huffed,
rising from the rock she sat on. She took a brief glance at the
apartments, her eyes almost sorrowful as she watched them burst
into wavering flowers of flame. It illuminated the darkened sky, a
sight that would otherwise be breath-taking.
"We'd best get moving. Find a... a shelter of some sort. Is
everyone good to go?" She said, turning back to the others. Venom
hooked his arm in the crook of her elbow, a silent but reassuring
gesture.
Dexter managed to collect up all of his and Adrain's stuff before
he got up, still holding her bridal style in his arm's.
''i'm ready.... Adrian is still asleep..'' he mumbled.
Jade and Justin both chimed in and made sure they had they're own
stuff packed up together.
"Dexter, you said that you've been around this area before, right?"
Venom said, looking over at him. "Do you know any safe spots in the
natural areas?" The way the fire illuminated Dexter's face sent
chills down Venom's spine as if the reality of the fire hadn't hit
him before.
''well, there was a hidden cave somewhere.. i don't exactly
remember where it was but i know it's in the forest somewhere, it's
really well hidden'' he said, but only loud enough for them to
hear.
Venom looked over at Crysia, who seemed a bit unsure. That was like
her--she didn't like to take chances. Or maybe it wasn't. Venom
hadn't known her too well before the island, and maybe it was the
island that made her that way. All he knew was that they were all
tired and needed to find a shelter before someone found them.
"Let's go find it, then," he said reassuringly, more to Crysia than
anyone else. She nodded, her arm still hooked in his as they
followed behind Dexter.
