Wild Dragons
Just hush already, you're giving me a headache! she yelled at them through their telepathy. She had to be touching Ninyan to communicate like this, and couldn't use it from far away.
Sorry! Niny's voice called in her head, a light, sweet sound.
We'll try to stop for now, but you know us. Nyan's voice said, the deeper, husky sound causing a shiver down Felicia's spine.
Felicia shook her head, jumping from the dragon's back. She motioned for Ninyan to follow her, which they gladly did. However, they kept nipping at each other's necks.
(Just so you know Yen is a bit taller than the average adult so she's big but not huge.)
"Alright, let's go fishing." Skylar said softly, pushing herself up lightly with her hands.
Glancing up at the sun, she guessed it was a bit past noon, which was perfect time to get some lunch. The lake was close, only a mere five minute trudge down the cliffs to reach it, but like many teenagers, the lazy young girl was not in the mood for walking. Calder stood up beside her, peeking his head over the cliff-side curiously, most likely judging how far down and how steep it was. He then swerved his head over to Skylar, knowing she wouldn't want to walk. Skylar gave a slight pouty face, knowing her dragon hated flying, and let out an exaggerated, "pleaseeee." Calder rolled his eyes slightly and lowered his back with a loud huff of frustration, his large wings spread apart as far as possible allowing Skylar more room to climb on. The teenager smiled pertly and aboard the dragons back, holding lightly onto his thick neck, careful not to squeeze to tight knowing the dragons temper. Calder's wings pulled back, cradling Skylar like a baby for a moment then the still young dragon flapped his mighty wings back and pushed harshly with his back legs taking off of the cliff-side, heading fast towards the lake below.
Jackson raced across town. Just as the familiar building came into sight, he tripped over his own feet. "Ow!" he yelped, feeling his jeans rip once again. He let out a half-hearted laugh, dragging himself to his feet. He noticed Yen standing outside and waved. The large dragon simply grunted. "Nice to see you too," he muttered almost silently. Jackson walking in, brushing the dirt off his pants.
Robin turned, hearing footsteps. "Oh hey. Today your getting your dragon, right?" she asked. He nodded with a hint of a grin before Robin turned back to Mr. Waston. "I think that hatchling I brought in might fit pretty well with him." He nodded in agreement, opening the gate to the land in which the tamed dragons would stay. "Step right in. See which ones like you and Robin and I will help you pick one!"
Jackson stepped outside hesitantly, some newer hatchlings scattering fearfully. The older only looked up and acknowledged him before continuing whatever they had previously been doing. He took a step forward. He didn't feel the small body make it's way in front of his leg and he fell flat on his face. The hatchling which had tripped in let out a squeal of success and scrambled all over him. "I think this one likes me!" he called into the building with a laugh.
Robin grinned at the sight of the hatchling she had recently brought in scrambling all over the young trainee. "I agree." Mr. Waston opened the gate again, allowing the duo in. "So, just name 'im and he's all yours." Jackson struggled to his feet. "I think I'll call him Wisp." The small hatchling looked up at the name, immediately agreeing to it.
Felicia was glaring at Ninyan as she walked, not noticing a small hole right in front of her. She tripped, barely catching herself on the ground. Dusting herself off as she got up, she took a better look at the hole. It was shaped like a dragon's footprint, which interested Felicia. The print was a bit smaller than Felicia's own, so she assumed it was a young dragon. Felicia backed up towards Ninyan, putting her hand on the dragon's side.
What do you make of it? she asked, using their telepathy.
Seems like a young dragon, but I'm sure you already knew that, Niny replied, looking at the print with interest.
There don't appear to be any larger tracks nearby, so that must mean that the dragonet is alone, Nyan pointed out, looking around the immediate vicinity for any signs of other dragons. One good thing about a two-headed dragon was that there were double the eyes and noses.
Well, let's follow them, Felicia said, running ahead of Ninyan.
Don't go too far without us! Niny and Nyan called to her with their telepathy. Felicia may have to touch them to communicate, but that wasn't the same for them.
I don't even know where I'm going with this. XP))
Ydkay.
Jackson burst into laughter at realizing where the voice was coming from. "I don't think you can do that yet lil' guy." The hatchling let out a small roar in response. He got to his feet and kept running, Wisp being nice enough to stay beside him. Abruptly, he crashed into a girl who seemed to be following some tracks. "Whoops! Sorry!" he exclaimed.
---
Robin waved to Mr. Waston and exited the building, spotting Jackson just leaving town. "We might as well do something, Yen. There are bound to be others out there at this very moment. Besides," she spun her dagger before returning it to her belt, "there are bound to be some traps the hunters set out there. It's always fun to destroy 'em." Yen seemed fairly eager to do this.
Robin climbed onto Yen's back and they took off, no particular destination in mind.
The man was about to tie off his bay roan horse and take a short break and have a before-dinner snack when he saw a dragon take flight, presumably from somewhere in the nearby area. It looks black, but of course that might just be its silhouette. Could be rare, though, he thought to himself. Almost every color and species of dragon changed rarity as he traveled from country to country. He hadn't quite memorized the rare color patterns and species of this region, but he supposed he could always take some dragon horns or skins to the nearest black market and find out soon enough.
Kanju armed himself with his bow, and notched an arrow, just in case he needed to use it against the dragon. He could always switch to his net later on if he needed, but most dragons were hostile against him, likely because of his dragon-repelling aura.
i have fists for hands and fire for fists
Robin smiled slightly, remembering her dragon had a strange way of sensing most living things in contact with the Earth. It was useful in a situation right now, when they suspected a hunter. She spotted the shadow of Kanju and stopped, hoping she wouldn't be spotted.
"Alright how about you get two fish, and I'll start a fire." Skylar said softly. Although the statement should have been a question, Skylar knew the answer already. Calder loved swimming, so why would he disagree. So without another word the large dragon ran into the lake, his small figure sliding carelessly into the deep blue pool. The lake was large enough that Calder could swim deep without any part of him out of the water. Skylar rolled her eyes once more, knowing Calder would be in there for a while, and headed over towards the forest. She dropped her large backpack down, a relived sigh escaping her lips, and headed over to collect some sticks to get the fire started.
"So, um, hi," Felicia said, looking over the boy and his young dragon. "So, you're a Trainee? What are you training for?" She asked, trying to start a small conversation instead of just running back off. Ninyan's heads were slowly going farther past her head, and she had to push them back. Sheesh, back up already. Don't scare him off.
I feel like I don't post enough.))
Hfjsi.
Jackson lifted up the hatchling who fluttered his wings as if he wanted to glide. "Silly," he grinned. Despite him only just getting the cloud dragon, he could already tell they would probably be good partners.
Meanwhile, the water dragon had been swimming midst the beautiful water, his entire being at ease. Calder never felt happier than when he was in the water. The only thing that made him happier was being in the water with Skylar, but she wasn't so much a swimming fan as him. The blue dragon kicked forcefully off the lake bottom, spotting a school of large fish swimming around as if they weren't worried about the huge dragon circling below them. Calder stopped in front of the fish, gently grabbing one in his mouth, sort of like a pelican would. The fish thrashed wildly in the dragons mouth, but Calder's spit had a special something that killed small prey if he left them inside for long enough. Sure enough, a few moments later and the large fish was dead. Calder glanced around the water, bubbles escaping his gills, before swimming to the surface and running towards Skylar, the large fish settled in his mouth.
"I'm Felicia Lynch, a Tamer. You can call me Feli if you want. Nice to meet you, Jack," Felicia said happily.
Ninyan nodded its heads towards Wisp, responding in telepathy.
It's nice to meet you, hatchling, Niny's kind voice said.
Hey lil guy, Nyan's voice followed Niny's.
Niny poked Felicia with her said, almost as if urging her forward. He seems like he could be suitable for a mate, she said with a gleam in her eye, Nyan nodding his in a rare moment of agreement. Felicia's face flushed bright red, and then she grabbed both of them around the neck.
Don't say anything unnecessary you guys. I don't need you causing me to leave a bad impression, she mentally hissed. Felicia hoped the dragon didn't broadcast their voices to Jackson and Wisp.
The fish crackled slightly as the fire finished cooking it. The teenager took the stick off the fire, blowing softly on the fish. Her stomach let out a low roar, telling her just how hungry she was. Calder was still passed out in her lap, low snores ringing her ears from him. Skylar took a bite of the fish, burning her tongue in the best way, and then ate nearly half before being full. She placed the half eaten fish beside her and, without disturbing Calder, slid down to lay beside her slumbering dragon. She nuzzled against him like he was a large pillow and with a full stomach and thoughts racing, the teenager fell asleep next to the blazing fire and slumbering water dragon.
