I guess we'll have to discuss it, or
just make it up as we go, which is more fun.

Loretta deftly wove her way through the wispy clouds, flickering between solid and vapor form. Her crystal blue eyes blended in with the sky whenever she turned into vapor, giving her perfect camouflage. Days like these, she had no idea what to do. She had already done her daily duties, both as a spirit of a phoenix and of the air. Of course, she could always fly to the nearest city and laugh at the petty worries of humans, but that was getting old.
She sighed, causing a fresh breeze to come into existence, and twirled lazily in mid-air, letting her eyes rove the land below her. It was a more "cultivated" piece of land much unlike what Lore was used to. She frowned disapprovingly at the cluttered little towns ruining the beautifully wild forests she loved so much.
Though she did despise how humans misused the beauties of nature, Loretta was often curious on what they did there. How could they stand using only feet to walk, and never fly free with the wind? Sure, she had seen their strange contraptions they used to fly great distances (she scoffed at their speeds), but they were nowhere as impressive as true wings sprouting from one's back. It was a pity that neither of her forms would be suitable to walk on their lands and not attract attention to the existence of supernatural beings such as she. Loretta pondered the idea for some time, tossing it around her head. Perhaps if she could shoo away the clouds that often surrounded her, exchange her light, airy dress for something more "human" and actually wear those things the humans called shoes, she might pass for human.
Or maybe not. It was well worth a shot, the air spirit decided as she let herself become corporeal, drifting down below to a nearby town, which conveniently had an untamed forest near its outskirts. She slipped, unseen, between a thicket of trees, reluctantly letting go of her cloud followers. She sadly watched them float to the sky and join their relatives, but then remembered what she was here for.
She let her eyes drift close, concentrating on rearranging the air molecules of her dress, sewing and weaving and ripping and threading and folding. When Loretta opened her eyes, she checked herself with a smile, noting that she now wore a simple pair of blue jeans and a long-sleeved light purple blouse.
Now for her hair. A grimace momentarily darkened Loretta's face. With a sigh, she spun her finger in the air, gathering tufts of air like cotton candy. She let the gathered blob spin towards her two delicate white ribbons, cloth and air mixing together and turning it into soft lace. Loretta tilted her head back, racking her memory of how humans braided their air. The lace twisted through her white-blonde hair, dutifully following the directions from a distant memory of a mother braiding her daughter's hair.
When it was finished, Loretta was pleased to note that it was well-done. She finally recalled the name of the brain, a waterfall braid. She was pleased with the result, and reluctantly started on her worst problem: shoes.
Lore clenched her fist, gathering air around it, and concentrated on the vague shape of the shoes she saw female humans wore. They were, of course, her favorite color: white. After the pair of shoes were finished, Loretta examined them critically before deciding them as okay. They were a pair of white sneakers with purple shoelaces, but of course, she had no idea what they were called, having drawn the model from a memory of a shoe displayed in a shop window.
She slipped them on, delighted to find out that they fit perfectly, and wondered how to tie those hanging laces. Perhaps she should just tie them into something "cute", like a bow? Oh to hell with it, she decided, and knotted it easily into a bow. Loretta tested the shoes, walking back and forth awkwardly and off balance. She hadn't walked on firm ground for so long she had almost forgotten how to. After checking her reflection in a nearby puddle, Lore deemed herself human looking enough, except for that otherworldly aura she seemed to emit. Walking awkwardly in these uncomfortable "shoes", Loretta made her way away from the forest, occasionally stumbling.
Luellia swept her strong tail against the current, propelling herself with a leap onto the soft ground. Swiftly shifting into her nymph form, she wiggled her almost translucent toes, waiting for her feet to regain feeling. Once she had managed to keep her balance on foot, she teetered alarmingly towards her oak tree home, the hems of her flowing gown brushing against the ground.
Today had been a fairly nice day, swimming and singing with the dolphins. However, Luellia had also run out of things to do, which was quite the shame. With a heavy sigh, she let her silver orbs roam around her little haven by the lake. Wondering what she could possibly do today, she sat idly by a patch of grass surrounding her oak tree, before absentmindedly starting to sing a Merfolk song. The notes seemed to echo invitingly through the forest, causing the birds to quiet and the winds to freeze.

Fox wandered through the forest, checking for signs of willows and mossy stones. She heard a mer song, and smiled. Mers usually had all the gossip about natural things, as long as they were somewhat related to water. The type of willows she was looking for only grew around water, so it would be a good shot to try and ask. Fox hated how many of them wanted to drag her to her death underwater though. She sat down at the edge of a small lake, noting that the song was coming from nearby. She knew the lyrics to this mersong, so she began to sing along, taking her shoes off and dipping her feet in the water.
Luellia's pointed ears perked up when she heard someone singing along to her mer-song. Very few mystical beings knew the words, since most usually gained the urge to drown themselves before even registering them. Ah, it was worth to check and try if anyone else who didn't think she was a freak of nature was bored. She stumbled back into the lake, not even bothering to switch form. She could swim quite fine, she noted matter-of-factly to herself, her legs propelling her forward just as good as her tail. All the while, she kept up the singing.
Under water, her eyesight was perfect. She smiled, sensing the subtle water currents, and glimpsing the silhouettes of the native fish as she swam by them. After a little more kicking, she eventually spotted a pair of feet, just dipped into the water. After some contemplation, Luellie decided she had nothing to lose and swam towards it, her head popping out of the water with a spray of water.
Lue then realized that her gown was weighing her down, and with a bit of concentration, urged the waters to push her to the surface, letting her sit, dripping wet, on the top of the lake. She was now sitting on the water, shaking droplets everywhere. Blowing a piece of wet silvery blue hair out of her face, Lue peered curiously at the being who had been singing along to her song.
It was definitely some kind of elf or dwarf, and not a native of the forests. It looked female, its red hair in a ponytail. The queer hat it wore, Lue identified as a magical object. "Probably something to increase magic abilities or something of the sort," Luellia decided.
"Hello, it's a nice day out. What brought you to my lake?" Luellia asked cheerfully, before noticing the gauze on the elf's arm. "Oh, what's wrong with your arm?"

(and also elves aren't actually small, they are pretty much just magic-capable humans with pointy ears)
(she just like kind of looks like some vampire kid or somethin now that I think about it)
Fox blinked. She had half expected the mer to grab her ankles and attempt to drag her to her doom. "Oh! Hello. I was wondering if you've got any willows around here with blue flowers by the roots?" she asked. "Oh, this? A little incident happened earlier. I wasn't being careful enough."
Phoenix flew in her bird form for hours. Just traveling around and flying. After some time she grew tired and, seeing a lake, flew down lower and landed on a tree nearby. She realized there were two beings here as well and watched from her pearch.
Hmmmmm.... She thought lazily as she watched and listened.
"Hm. I wonder. Who...?" She mumbled to herself, quietly.
"Maybe..." She tilted her head as she continued the conversation with herself in her thoughts.
"No..." She decided that the creatures weren't anyone that she had seen before. She swished her tails back and forth hypnotically. With a wave of her hand, a small, purple fish appeared in front of the two creatures, seemingly swimming through the air. The kitsune might as well have a bit of fun, while she was here.

Luke ran through the forest in his wolf form, staving off boredom and searching for prey. His ears perked up at the sound of a song, the notes swimming through his mind. As he crept closer to the source of the sound, he could smell a fox in the area. Glancing upwards in the trees, he noticed a Kitsune sitting in the tree above him, talking to herself. He instantly sat where he was, tail wagging as he watched the Kitsune. Despite the difference between wolf and fox, he always found himself attracted to Kitsunes. He watched as she waved her hand and began to form an illusion around what smelled and sounded to be a nymph and possibly a young elf. He wasn't quite sure about the elf though. He lied down on his stomach, getting more comfortable as he watched the Kitsune work her magic.
Luke quickly stood up, alarmed by the sound of a breaking twig. When he focused on where the sound came from, he saw a Phoenix looking at him. He looked back with equal curiosity, tilting his head slightly as he studied the fire bird. Sure mystical beings weren't uncommon around the area, but he had never seen a Phoenix up close before. He sat back down, continuing to watch the Phoenix.
Phoenix froze and watched the wolf, and tilted her head when he did. She ruffled her blue feathers as he sat back down and took a couple more steps forward. She stretched out a wing and poked him before jumping back a bit, sort of play like. Here eyes shone a bit, full of wonder and curiosity.
A closer look at the being, plus with water not blurring her vision, Luellia noticed the being looked more like a human with elfish features, noting its pointed ears. "Like mine," She thought a little sadly.
She tilted her head, causing the water from her hair to drip back into the lake. "Hmm, I'm not really sure. I moved here just last year. Haven't really explored the land much," Luellia said, her tone a little wistful. Then, she snapped her almost translucent fingers at a sudden thought. "Oh wait, I'm sure I planted a willow last week. Should be fully grown by now. I think it's at the opposite end of the lake, though.
Luellia blinked in confusion at the sudden purple fish swimming through the air. "Well, that is certainly not a native. That would have been a tasty snack for Dei," She remarked, referring to a dolphin friend as she peered curiously at the fish.
There was something...off about the fish. Luellia spent a lot of time in the ocean, and she had seen many a mythical underwater dweller. When bored, she'd observe their habits all day, resulting in a vast knowledge about the beings. She wasn't too good with the land dwellers though. As she weighed the possibilities, she flickered subconsciously from nymph form to mermaid and back.

"I like red," She replied in her usual carefree, childish manner. "I wish I didn't look so blue in either of my form. I suppose I should blame my parents, but it doesn't feel right," she added absentmindedly.
She turned while continuously propelling herself with her shimmering blue tail, so now she swam with her face facing towards the surface. If one looked from a distance, all they would see would be a glimmer of light, reflecting from her scales. Luellia was perfectly camouflaged due to her almost translucent complexion.
"I do hope you don't mind me tagging along. It gets lonely when you're a shunned hybrid," Lue stated calmly to the stranger. "I would be known as Luellia, I suppose. You are?"
