But she's also the quietest--a quality both of you don't exceed very well." Sunfur replied. She looked at Mosskit, who had her chest puffed out as her savvy, bright gold eyes shimmered.
"Please?" Dawnkit asked, an innocent kit-look on her face. "I promise I'll be quiet!" Dawnkit chirped. "Alright." Sunfur sighed, the kits happily bouncing around each other as she entered the Nursery.
''hello little kit's... hello sunfur....'' she murmured.
she looked at her four kit's and sighed.
''their name's are, rosekit... thistlekit..... stormkit.. and patchkit...'' she mumbled quietly with a soft purr.
Mosskit gave out a surprised squeal and bounded out from under Dawnkit, her head lifting so she stood nose-to-nose with her brother. "What? Is there something wrong with being a she-kit?" Mosskit growled teasingly, a welly-acted scowl on her face. Flamekit's bushy tail flicked, surprised their sister could hold such words. He had always underestimated her. Dawnkit played along, she strode over to the tortoiseshell's side, and glared at Flamekit accusingly.
"I thought so, PearlClanner. Get off of PoppyClan territory before we rip your pelt off!" Dawnkit yelped in an acceptable tone, although she couldn't help but give a light giggle. "Come on Dawnkit, let's show this flea-bag what we've got!" Mosskit giggled, and lunged at Flamekit with a well-aimed leap. It as astonishing; Dawnkit had never seen such a controlled leap from any of the kits. Mosskit scrambled onto her brother's head, her sheathed paws batting at his ears. "Come on, Dawnkit! What are you waiting for?" The she-kit mewled. Dawnkit bowled over Flamekit, and, as if Mosskit had read her thoughts, leaped off and landed to the ground neatly.
better life in this clan then in that horrible clan with the bone wall..... she thought with a slight shudder.
she lapped at all four of the kit's head's purring a bit louder as they all yawned.
it had been a couple of moon's since they were born and they were already walking and seeing their clan.
thistlekit was the first to wake up while the other's were trying to wake up.
thistlekit stretched and sat up, scratching at her left ear.
she was the second born kit, but was always the first one to wake up quicker then her sibling's.
Dawnkit
The golden-furred kit sat in the Nursery clearing; she was alone since all the other kits were sleeping. She was her mother's ''light sleeper'', and what her father called a ''morning bird''. Her neck furs tingled, and she whipped around in alarm to see what was behind her. It was her mother, a welly-muscled queen; a she-cat that was pretty much an older version of herself. But that's what her father thought, not her. Her fur flattened and her eyes softened as she saw her mother. "It's time...?" Dawnkit sighed, her ears slightly pinning.
Sunfur's calm but blazing blue eyes glittered warmly with pride, and she lapped her tongue swiftly across Dawnkit's head. "Close enough to say yes." Sunfur sighed, her tail tilting back and forth softly. Dawnkit's tail was loosely curled around her wrists. Flamekit lazily strode out of the Nursery, followed by that frail tiny tortoiseshell that Dawnkit just loved so much. Mosskit yawned, and took a stretch. Flamekit's large bushy tail bounced around giddily as he approach Sunfur. "Today is it?" Flamekit purred, nuzzling his mother's side. Sunfur nodded, her nose pressing onto the tom-kit's head. Mosskit scrabbled over and snuggled into Sunfur's now still tail.
"I call all of PoppyClan to a meeting by the Ledge." Came a mature, sleek voice that all the cats stopped to listen to. It was loud, but not a screech. A simple mew that boomed through the camp above all the others. That's Aquastar for you, Dawnkit thought, looking at the way all cat's ears perked up to listen. "Come on, my kits." Sunfur meowed softly and padded towards the rock ledge that didn't go off the ground, but was slightly taller than the regular landspread of camp. The Ledge was their convenient way of having important meetings.
Dawnkit waited by the Ledge as all the cats gathered around it, filling any vacant spot below it. She looked up at the broad silver tabby talking with his deputy/mate. Flamekit bounced up to Dawnkit, his chest puffed out proudly. "Hah! I'm going to be the best fighter out of all of you!" Her brother bragged. Dawnkit (with her claws sheathed), cuffed her brother on the ear. "Please. You can't read the future, bee-brain." She scoffed, and playfully nudged his shoulder. Her brother grunted, but shut his muzzle as he waited.
What Dawnkit found weird was how Mosskit sat proudly and confidentially next to her, there as she herself was melting in the insides. But she had to set an example for her younger siblings; what would Flamekit say if he saw that Mosskit, the youngest kit in their litter, was braver than her? Definitely not anything good. It made Dawnkit jump as she saw Aquastar turn away from the deputy, and face the Clan with his usual pride. It's time. Said Sunfur's voice in her mind.
"Cats of PoppyClan." Meowed Aquastar. This made all of the cats hush down to pay attention to their leader. His simple mew magically boomed across the others, amplified somehow. He was so respected. "We gather here this sunrise, as a full Clan that is still growing and improving. Now is a time that we grow again, there as the kits of Sunfur and Foxwhisker have reached the age of six moons and are ready to serve this Clan as fully pledge warrior apprentices." The leader announced. A slight mutter waved through the cats, but it stopped quickly as the leader wen ton to say what he had to say.
"Dawnkit, Flamekit, and Mosskit. Dawnkit shall be first, there as she is the oldest of the litter. Flamekit second, and young Mosskit last." Aquastar meowed. He remembered our order. Dawnkit padded forwards to the Ledge, knowing this was her cue. She saw the border patrol rush in, and Foxwhisker bound to the ceremony. His eyes glimmered proudly, and he sat next to Sunfur. His tail waved in a sign of luck.
"Do you, Dawnkit, promise to uphold the warrior code and protect your Clan even at the cost of your life?" Aquastar meowed.
"Always." Was her reply.
"Then I call upon my warrior ancestors to guide the path of this apprentice as she trains towards the rank of a warrior. From now on and until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Dawnpaw." Aquastar mused.
"Dawnpaw, your mentor will be Sedgecreek. Sedgecreek, I expect you will pass on all you know to this apprentice."
Dawnpaw padded towards her new mentor. Remembering the tradition, she respectfully pressed noses with Sedgecreek. "I'll be honored to learn from you," Dawnpaw meowed politely. Sedgecreek nodded, a bit surprised by Dawnpaw's sophisticated acts. "As I will be honored to teach you, Dawnpaw." Sedgecreek purred. The roars of her new name came from all of PoppyClan, and the apprentice felt proud.
Flamekit
Flamekit stared on as Dawnpaw was apprenticed and as she met her mentor. He had forgotten the tradition, so it was a good thing that his sister was there to remind him. Although Flamekit wasn't going to go around saying that aloud. He had known this ever since some kits started to tease Mosskit--he was there to protect his sisters, weather they liked it or not. He would become a fighter, maybe the best in the clan, just to protect his sisters. If he got to choose, he'd fall first. Sedgecreek seemed very accepting about getting Dawnpaw as an apprentice. Would my mentor like me as much? He thought. Aquastar hushed down PoppyClan's cheers with a clear of his throat, and resettled himself on the Ledge.
"Now we have Flamekit. Flamekit, come forward." The leader urged. The six-moon-old tom didn't hesitate to obey his Clan leader. He tried to listen, he really did, but his mind refused to go through Aquastar's speech. The leader paused and looked at him. Flamekit figured it out. "I do." He meowed confidentially. "Blah blah blah.... Flamepaw... Your mentor will be Sharpwing." Aquastar meowed. Or at least that's what Flamepaw think he meowed. Sharpwing! Flamepaw thought, and whipped over to face the tuxedo-furred tom. Sharpwing was one of the best fighters in the Clan, plus he was patient--everything Flamepaw needed in a mentor.
''i want to be a warrior when i get older!'' stormkit said, puffing out his fluffy chest.
''you'll still be the third one to get mentored at six moon's little brother'' rosekit said.
''your only older by a few minute's!'' thistlekit cried.
''warrior's have dangerous job's... i'd rather be a medcat when i get older'' patchkit mewled, causing his three sibling's to stare at him.
