Halloween. The holiday where everyone dresses up for candy.
Ghosts, zombies, witches, werewolves and more wander the streets.
What few know is that not only humans are there. The monsters blend
in with them on this night, causing mischief and trouble. Very few
people realize this, but a few figure it out. More and more
monsters are coming out on and even after Halloween, and its
getting a bit.. suspicious.
Fox strolled down the streets alone, carrying her bag of candy.
This year, she had chosen not to dress up, as her odd appearance
looked weird enough to be considered a costume. A stranger stood in
an alleyway, beckoning for Fox to come near. "Psst, hey kid, want
some candy? Just come on in here, and I'll give you some!" Fox
walked into the dead-end alley, following the man. "Just walk a bit
forwards." He said, smiling, long fangs shining. Fox reached the
dead-end and turned around, facing the vampire. "You should know
not to travel alone at night, little girl." He said, stepping
forwards. "And you should know not to talk to strangers." Fox said,
smiling as she shifted into a gigantic wolf. He barely had time to
open his mouth in a scream of terror before she tore him apart.
"Too bad he didn't have any candy." She said as she stepped out of
the alleyway, wiping a spot of blood off of her clothes. She
whistled as she walked down the empty street.
Cinn carried her light bag of candy at her side. She had trouble
trick-or-treating with the fact that she was afraid to be
recognized as an actual witch. Cinn spotted several transparent
figures surrounding a few young children. "Ghosties!" one of them
squealed. She smiled slightly. The ghosts never dared to harm
others, due to their own probably gruesome deaths. Cinn rang the
doorbell of a heavily decorated house. "Trick or treat," she said
in her soft voice as the door opened to reveal a man. "What a
wonderful witch costume!" he exclaimed as he deposited candy into
her bag. "Thank you." The door was shut and she continued through
the crowded streets.
Fox walked through the streets to a more active part of town. It
was absolutely bustling with trick or treaters, aged from 3 to 30.
She accidently bumped into a girl dressed like a witch, who looked
to be about 15 years old. "Oops! sorry!" she exclaimed as some of
the candy of her own overstuffed bag spilled onto the street.
"It's fine," Cinn replied softly, crouching to pick up several
pieces of Fox's candy, putting it back into the other's bag. "How
does one get this much candy?" she asked with a slight grin.
"I raided all the houses on all the other streets already," she
said, smiling brightly. "The trick is to start even before the sun
sets!" Fox scooped up the remaining bits of candy. "You want some
of mine? I've got plenty."
"Yeah. How about I get it all and you get the ones that fell into
the street?" Cinn grinned a bit. She took note of the pointy ears
for later questioning. "Should we find a less active part of town
to sort out what candy I'm going to steal from you?"
"Yeah, it's pretty crowded here. Oh, I know just the place! There's
this really cool abandoned part of town with the awesomest opera
house! It's been abandoned for about 50 years, so I hear. I've been
in there, and it's awesome! There's cool art stuff in there made of
glass and metal, like an artist had sort free time before the place
was closed."
Cinn nodded a bit. "Okay. I'm Cinn, by the way," she said, thought
not saying her last name. One of her old friends said her last name
would probably give away who she really was. "So, which way shall
we go?"
"After you explain the pointy ears. Their obviously not fake," Cinn
replied. She reached over and tugged on them, just to prove her
point. "You tell me, I tell you something then we can discuss
candy." She grinned slightly after the candy part.
"Och! Don't you know not ta pull on somebody's ears!" Fox
exclaimed, her thick german accent coming out. "Geez, you would
think that the native would be nicer!"
"Tell me what you are, and I'll tell you what I am," Cinn replied.
"Or I'll yank on your ears again," she added jokingly. "I am pretty
nice when I'm not wondering who the heck you really are."
Alex was hiding under his bed when his mother started calling him.
"Jarred! You should be outside right now!" "I don't want to! I'm
too old for trick or treating!" He answered covering his ears. He's
okay with his costume because he chose it he just hate being
sociable and stuff. "Just go outside!" His mom shouted. "Okay
fine!" He said and went outside his room. "You should visit the
neighbors." His mother said as he was given a bag for candies. He
didn't answer and walk outside.
Instead of going to the neighbors, he went to the forest that was
located at the end of their street. "I hate candies, they'll give
me diabetes." He said as he walked deeper.
"Okay," Cinn replied, still clueless about the other's species.
"And I'm a witch." She walked inside the building. "Now, give me
all of your candy!" she grinned.
"Pf, at least I didn't accidentally turn you into a frog or
something. That actually happened once when I was trying to be
human." She laughed a bit with a grin. "I felt really bad, and I
still do but the guy's expression when he was a frog..."
