Midori pulled the struggling wolf closer to the pack, thankful for
Jinx's help. She looked forward with her good eye, her blind one
facing the outclanner.
The scent of the pack wolves entered her nostrils before she
spotted them. The wolf struggled weakly as he realized where Jinx
and Midori were at this point. Soon enough Jinx spotted one of the
pack's outflankers. "We're here," she mumbled through her mouthful
of fur.
"Good," Midori muttered through the fur. She could smell several
wolves nearby, including the outflanker Jinx had spotted. "You go
on ahead, I'll hold onto this guy."
(Sure. And sorry about the wait. I'm not on on Sundays, and the
feed must've gotten buried in the Sunday notifications that I never
look at.)
Several wolves gathered around Jinx and Midori, muttering things to
each other. A few pups went to come closer, but were stopped by
their mother. Several wolves looked at the gnaw wolves, expecting
them to go into the submission postures. All the wolves looked at
the outclanner with curiosity.
"This wolf told us we needed to go to the pack immediately for some
reason. We didn't believe him, so we followed, caught him and
dragged him here," Jinx said, "I believe he is an outclanner from
the reek of him."
One of the Packers walked up to the outclanner, sniffing his fur.
"Doesn't smell like an outclanner to me. He smells just like a
MacDuncan wolf, just a little off," the wolf said.
Midori also noticed the small lack of the distinct outclanner
scent, but she could still smell it. "How can you not tell?" She
asked, surprised.
"Hmm.. Not in this pack. Maybe he was in a nearby pack; I'm sure I
remember that fur..." The Packer muttered.
"No, that was Kari, dear," the Packer's mate said, correcting her
mate. "I'm pretty sure this wolf isn't a MacDuncan, I haven't seen
him anywhere before."
"Well this wolf was obviously trying to get us in trouble of some
sort, so shouldn't we punish him somehow?" Midori said through the
wolf's fur. "Just getting rid of him wouldn't be punishment, since
he's an outclanner..."
Hmm... Hard to go anywhere from here. Let's turn the tables a
bit.))
"Well how do we know you aren't the ones who brought him
here?!" A wolf cried out from the crowd. No one else looked back at
him, or noticed the slight scent of outclanner on his fur.
"Why would we bring an outclanner into the pack!" Jinx retorted.
"We're already gnaw wolves, why would we do something to make us be
treated even worse?"
"Well who knows? Maybe you're trying to get the outclanners to take
over the pack or something," the wolf yelled back, slightly
flustered about what to say. The outclanner in Midori's grasp
glared dangerously into the crowd, angry that the other wolf was
practically telling them their plans.
Suddenly, before the others had a chance to react, the wolf twisted
out of Midori's grasp and fled out of the pack. "Great, we're
practically dead at this point," Jinx muttered to Midori as the
pack stared at them.
"Yeah... Seems like it..." Midori muttered, ears laid flat against
her head. "Shouldn't we go after him?!" She cried out loud,
mustering up one last bit of courage.
