Jay woke up, glancing out the window. He sleepily dragged himself out of bed, getting dressed and heading downstairs to get breakfast. He found a note on the kitchen table.
"Jay, I have to leave early for work today again. I'm sorry that I have to work late again, but I promise that we'll go to get ice cream this friday. There are waffles in the freezer if you are hungry. Love you, Mom"
"Working constantly, as usual," Jay said as he pulled out some waffles from the freezer, popping them into the toaster. "I guess I'll just hang out with Ellie today" He said, with a renewed cheerfulness, mainly due to Ellie being his best friend.
