I cannot remove my country setting. More precisely: I click the flag on the settings page and it fades as it should. When I click the button, it's back in full color though, and there's no message of any sort. It can be changed to a different one just fine (including success message), but I'd like to take the flag off my profile.

you can't take it off you have to have country settings just ignore it its not like its hurting you

Um. I *could* remove it when the feature was new. I remember that clearly because I set and unset it a few times, unsure whether I wanted to do this. It can't be that I "have to have country settings" because it wouldn't be there if I had never set it.

It's a matter of privacy - at one point I saw little harm in it, but if people are suggesting a search function for country mates, I'm going to feel bothered, so I want it gone.

Hiding your country settings has been made possible through a 'visibility' option on that same page.
