Two Worlds, Too Many Monsters (1x1x1 with Arwen and Noshu)
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Private RP → Two Worlds, Too Many Monsters (1x1x1 with Arwen and Noshu)For a moment, Matthews' eyes indicated that he was prepared to wrestle with a bull if it came down to it- If Tristan had the idea of launching himself at Ten or just taking a step closer. It was that kind of blink-and-you-miss-it flame. It was swiftly replaced with a thankful look, Mallory just maybe prevented a hell from breaking loose. "You know what they say, Rumors spread like wildfire- And there are few crows on the roof that just can't stop talking. Well, Mallory, I hope Ten over here didn't traumatize you or something. He may seem grumpy but trust me, you will get used to it. That Guy is kind of a package deal but there is more to him than being a wicked Scrooge. "
"Team Eyeliner was told to make the final decision together, Ten-ane." Sarcasm said, taking another sip of his colorful soda-like drink. "And besides, Mauve's the real leader, even if she does listen to the rest of us. She's the one who actually gets the final say."
«Sweetie, teamwork ain't my thing, but I'd have no problem working together with you.»
Mallory kept the smile on his face until he heard Tristan's words. His shy smile quickly turned into a forced, very awkward smile. «Ahem,» he faked a cough, «excuse me? I have to use the restroom - can you tell me the way, maybe?»
Matthew suddenly felt uncomfortable. Not this talk, anything but this talk! Nu-Uh! He is cutting the line, shredding the papers- "Sure thing but... It's in another wing through and it's not hard to get lost in this place." It wasn't exactly a lie- There indeed are other restrooms in another wing. He just needed to get out of this place for a while. And Mallory seemed nice, he wouldn't mind getting to know him better- Especially if they are going to fight on the same side now. Through leaving Ten here with that shady looking guy- No, Matt had to be independent for once. He cant just follow Tenebris around as a puppy every single day- Even though he did that for an entire year and it worked out splendidly. Sometimes, he wondered if Ten is sick of him but he didn't let himself linger on that thought for too long. And... Matthew can read people well, there is something about Mallory's expression that tells him that something is wrong. "I can show you where it is if you don't mind. You folks will do just fine even without our radiant presence enchanting this place, Right?" He said, addressing rest of the room.
For a moment he had to hold back the question how she could be so open about this, but then he thought it might just be an excuse to make him stop. Plus, he'd possibly give away a little too personal information.
Mallory looked at Matt with a grateful expression. «That would be nice,» he said. «Thank you.»
Tristan shrugged at Matthew's words. «I guess.»
Matthew gave Ten a 100-watt smile, he couldn't pinpoint the exact moment in time when Tenebris began to treat him as a friend more than a stranger that showed up at his house with a bunch of other humans but... He was happy it happened. Maybe Matt seemed completely oblivious most of the times but he certainly noticed the small changes in his behavior and he wouldn't trade them for anything else. "Relax, Clover! I survived my own death, managed to live in another universe for over a year and now my goal is helping my pals to save the world- I am not letting anything get rid of me that easily. You have an obligation to do the same and not get yourself hurt- Mauve, Keep an eye on him. Don't let him near anything electrical."
With that, he strode out of the room, waving goodbye with his left hand and motioning for Mallory to follow with his right.
He gave the tall, black haired boy one last glance before he left the room, ready to follow Matt. His movements were stiff and he seemed really tense.
Once Mallory left the room, he relaxed visibly. «Well, that was awkward,» he said quietly and more to himself before he realized that he actually said it out loud. He looked at Matt for a moment, hoping he didn't hear it. Mallory didn't want to have to explain himself yet again.
After Matt and Mallory left the room, Tristan looked at Sarcasm. He didn't want to ask Ten directly, not after the confrontation before. «What's that White Rose thing that guy keeps talking about?» Tris asked, glancing in Ten's direction when he said ‹that guy›.
Matthew didn't catch Mallory's words, as he was too busy trying to remember where the nearest restr- Turn to the left when you reach the potted plant (Areca Palm, He wasn't uncultured.), continue forward and then left again. Here we go. He clasped his hands behind his back as he walked, looking as not even earthquake could somehow shatter his seemingly carefree persona. He slowed down just a little so he could walk by Mallory's side. "Now, be honest with me- And I am not going to judge you, I swear- Do you really need to go to the bathroom or did you just wanted to take a breather and get away? Becouse that is the oldest trope in a book..."
The short brown-haired boy felt his heart skip a beat. For a moment, he was fighting with himself if he should tell the truth or lie to him.
I will probably have to fight alongside him - honesty and trust is a condition for good teamwork.
He took a deep breath and stopped. «You got me, Matthew,» he said. «I just. Felt really uncomfortable when Tristan started flirting with Skylar.»
He scratched the back of his head. «I don't know why, it's just really awkward,» he tried to explain.
Once Matt realized what he was doing he clasped hands behind his back again. He didn't know what expression he was making but it was probably way more revealing that he wanted it to be. "I also have no clue why this is happening... But there is nothing wrong with that. Let me tell you a secret, people like you and me are really rad folks! Tell anyone who doesn't know. It's completely alright to feel this way! You are not being childish, it's not weird and you aren't heartless! Remember that."
That's something Matt would most likely want to hear when he was younger- Well, Now too. It's never too late for some positivity.
If the situation was any different Skylar would most likely jump out of her skin in pure disbelief and proceeded to give a lecture but those people were from another world- She shouldn't be surprised that they don't know about Earths history, much less World War II. "Excuse my slightly personal questions. Don't feel pressured to answer, I am just trying to get a proper picture."
She made a face as if she was a Judge, questioning suspects at a trial. "Tenebris, you said you are an Alhike. Mauve already informed us about them. Do you have a familiar? Or if that's not a proper term, are you bound to some kind of creature? And if my assumption is correct, you three belong to the same team- Sarcasm, May I ask what is your exact role on the team? I repeat, if you do not wish to answer for whatever reason then I will understand."
"And yes, I am bonded to an animal. My Keeper, as they're usually called." Ten replied, picking up where Sarcasm left it hanging for him. "A foxan imp. Familiars are different from Keepers, the latter are actual physical representations of their owner. If anything was to seriously injure or kill my Keeper, I myself would feel the pain, or even die as well. But I trust her to make good choices." He paused for a moment, as if rethinking that. "Mostly." He added, as an afterthought.
He rudely interrupted Skylar. «So what's the "deeper meaning" behind 'Team Eyeliner'?»
At Ten's other words, a thought rised in his head, but he quickly shook it off - metaphorically. He didn't actually shake his head, obviously.
Mallory stared at Matthew in surprise. «Wait, so you- know how I feel?» he asked shyly. But in the next second, he felt joy warming his heart. «Well, thank you, I guess,» he said, his voice had a shy tone again. He didn't know how to react to this properly, but it made him feel a bit better.
Sarcasm frowned. "Actually, the pronunciation is Ukauu, and it more closely translates into Faded Lyrics. Every native-born Traditionalist messes that up." Mauve rolled her eyes and waved a hand at them. "Yes, that." She said.
Skylar wanted to thank them for their cooperation but Tristan beat her to it before she could even get out the first syllable. She decided to take the upper route and remain quiet, appearing entirely unfazed. Turns out there is a fourth person- Death. Skylar cringed internally, that name must have been eighter a blessing or a curse.
"On a topic of language, Is 'White Roses' the official name or just an English translation?" Maybe this could be considered nitpicking but such small detail could go a long way. If they want to navigate accurately in the Ather, they should at least know the fundamental info about the high-ranking teams.
"I'm happy to help! If you ever want to talk about it or just rant then it shouldn't be hard to find me." Was all the freckled boy (Matt is 19 now, Maybe he should stop calling himself a boy- He is a grown man. Adult. Physically, at least. Mentally? Even he has to admit that not even in slightest. ) said in response.
He understood all too well that this subject is uncomfortable for many people and he isn't going to push Mallory... But Matt would welcome the opportunity to rail at feelings for once. He had some people at Ather who he could talk to but not about this- They were under a lot of stress already and he doesn't need to add salt to the wounds. So instead, He considers talking to a complete stranger whose life was just thrown for the loop- Because that's a way to go. It was just easier to talk to Mallory because Matt didn't know him. Does that make sense?
They are probably gossiping right now. I can practically feel the last bits of my good reputation leaving this mortal plane...Tell me when you will feel ready to go back- But don't rush yourself. Have all time you need."
