Two Worlds, Too Many Monsters (1x1x1 with Arwen and Noshu)
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Private RP → Two Worlds, Too Many Monsters (1x1x1 with Arwen and Noshu)It's not like Skylar liked heading toward almost certain doom but it was either this or the outside- And she doubts that she could survive once these monsters overtake the streets. Or any other human in this room for that matter.
"Well, look who finally decided to show up." Mauve said, reaching into her bag. She brought out a bottle of brightly colored liquid, probably soda, and tossed it to them. They caught it smoothly, and opened the cap to take a sip as she continued. "Do you know how long I was waiting for you? And don't say you were busy, everyone knows by now you can get out of anything if you try hard enough."
Skylar doesn't like playing the advocate. It's certainly the worst position she could possibly find herself in but she already made her choice- Stay here and see how things turn out. She can make up her mind about the rest later.
He recalled Mauve mentioning the name earlier. «I assume you're my savior, as Mauve put it.»
He glanced at Mauve with his green eyes, just for a second, before he looked at Sarcasm again. He wanted to say something, but the words simply didn't come to him.
In the meantime, Mallory found his voice instead. Tris' gaze shifted toward Mallory as soon as he started speaking. Still quiet and a bit shaky, Mal said: «Why am I here? I - I am pretty sure I can't "bond" with any animals or creature.» His voice gained some confidence after he choked out the first few words, only to start trembling again as he continued: «I want to go home.»
He sounded as though he was about to cry.
Tris couldn't help but feel bad for Mallory. The short boy looked like he was maybe 12 years old, at least when one would go by his height and his features, and if that was his actual age, the poor kid would grow up like one of the Winchester's.
Maybe that wasn't the greatest example to go with, considering that some kids might actually dream about being like Sam and Dean Winchester, but it was the only thing that came to Tristan's mind at this point.
Her expression briefly changed to the typical Why-Me face as she looked at Tris and Mallory.
Tristan is an unpredictable time bomb and Skylar can't yet get a proper read on him and Mallory... It's not like Skylar isn't sympathetic, This child really knows how to tug at the heartstrings but Skylar sincerely hopes that he soon learns how to quickly grow up. "There must be a good reason why you are here, don't worry about that. You can eighter go home now and risk your life... Or stay here for some time and learn how to protect yourself and others. Which option sounds more preferable? " She said, addressing Mallory with voice shallow as a puddle. Hopefully, she will not have to give Mallory a full pep talk.
Mallory's heart made a little jump when Sarcasm mentioned him being a special case, and even more when they mentioned "something non-human about" him. Did they actually know about Madok? Maybe they also knew how to get rid of him!
He felt a piercing pain in his chest for a moment and the deep, daunting voice of Madok spoke up inside of his head: «Don't you dare even trying.»
The pain slowly faded away and left Mallory in an insecure, scared state.
He wiped his eyes as if he was wiping away tears, except he didn't actually cry. His voice still sounded as if he was about to cry, however, and Tris could clearly hear how scared he was. «What do you mean "Rid us of immunity"?»
Tris had a feeling what it could mean, but he didn't want to say it out loud, especially since it might be wrong and he already felt bad enough for the child. For a moment, he kinda wished to switch places with Mallory - he honestly wouldn't care if he or his family would get killed at this point, but Mallory probably loved his family and wouldn't want anyone to die, including himself. But then again, Tristan indeed had no problem with the current situation at all.
Though, now that he thought about it, a question rised in the back of his head. «Where exactly are our families anyways?» he asked Sarcasm. He decided to casually ignore the comment of Mallory having something non-human about him.
Sarcasm chose their words very carefully. They seemed to have a bit more trouble speaking than Mauve, or any other human for that matter, but it wasn't too dramatic. Really, it was only noticeable if someone was to pay attention to it. "Immunity is given to each family member in the case of acceptance. No matter the current branded list, their parents and siblings are not allowed to be terminated or hurt by any student under any circumstances. That being said, if the accepted student fails or drops out, their family is no longer given immunity. If humans do end up as branded..." They trailed off, not willing to finish that sentence.
"I'm very sorry, Mallory. Ather does not make a habit of bringing children into dangerous affairs, and I attempted to remove you from the list early on. Unfortunately, the stakes are much higher this time, it seems. They didn't listen." Sarcasm said. Their pale yellow eyes softened, almost turning sad, but there was also something angry in there. For a few seconds, the entire room was suddenly static-charged, and a whiff of ozone could be detected. However, the moments passed and they sighed. "Please, Mallory. Give Ather a chance. Don't decide right now, wait a little longer to hear the full story. After, you can choose whether to stay or go, and I will make sure it happens. No one will judge you for it. Deal?"
After a short pause, a slight smile of amusement crept onto his face. «Children» was what Sarcasm said, and it honestly amused him. «You see,» he muttered, «I'm 16 years old.»
He glanced over Mallory. He was short, his features resembled those of a 12 years old kid maybe, and his behaviour was... well, not quite mature if you asked Tris. I ain't mature either, though, he thought.
«Are you serious?» he asked doubtfully.
"Tell me what?" he asked, poking his head around the doorway. For a moment, Ten glanced around, his pastel blue eyes taking in everyone's faces. "Oh. Newbies. I forgot."
If somebody told Matthew years ago that someday he will be friends with monsters and that his life will shift completely, he would most likely thank them for the much needed laugh- But his Friendship with Ten is less of a shocking plot twist and more of a puzzle- Where every piece just conveniently fell into a right place. As of lately, he was glued to Tens side at any possible moment (When both of them weren't helping around Ather) and so it wasn't a big surprise that he was currently standing on his toes, trying his best to peek over Tens shoulder. "Some actual enthusiasm wouldn't break your neck, Clover. We don't want to scare away our new comrades just yet!"
"A few liz imps got loose, so I helped gather them up again. And stop calling Matthew my boyfriend." Ten replied, stepping fully into the room. His face remained as unimpressed as usual while he surveyed the assembled trainees again. Doubt laced his voice as he spoke again. "This is all?"
Mallory was a bit surprised at Tris' reaction and decided to go between them. «Stay calm, Tris,» Mallory whispered as he carefully shoved him away from the new person.
He turned around to face the new people. «And you are...?»
Matthew didn't change much in last 2 years. His wavy hair mostly lost its lilac coloring and returned to its natural blond but few locks still stubbornly held onto the purplish shade. He also gave up on braiding his mane, letting it fall loose well below his shoulders and onto his back. He didn't even grow taller, not even an inch. Fate was simply cruel.
If we ignore that he was breathing Genetic Miracle (Dark Skin and Blond Hair, that's not supposed to be happening) and small freckles that were just about everywhere and made him look like a cheetah, he could be considered not-a-complete-eyesore (That's his opinion at least, he actually looks quite nice- Not handsome by any means, but acceptably pretty with unique charm.)…. But of course, old enemy decided to make an appearance. The dark circles under his eyes were there for quite some time and it didnt seemed that they will disappear anytime soon.
As he entered the room, he felt his mouth go dry- Even though he managed to keep a soft smile on his face. This really wasn't nearly enough to get them out of this mess... "Matthew, Local Disaster. A pleasure to meet you all!" He composed himself so he wouldn't immediately shoot Tristan a glare, he said it himself- They cant scare them away on the first day, there is going to be another opportunity later on.
"All right, tone it down a bit Ten-ane. You've established your creepiness level, you can relax now."
Mallory interrupted. «That's enough.» He glared at Tris, then at the person who just introduced himself as Ten.
His expression shifted to a friendly, shy smile immediately as he turned towards the other guy who was apparently named Matthew. «It's nice to meet you,» he said, his voice now sounding softer. «I assume you already know my name, but I'm Mallory.»
Tristan just huffed and crossed his arms. He looked into Ten's eyes for a few more seconds before he broke the eye contact and looked to the side.
After a few seconds he asked himself why he was even listening to this kid, but he decided to not further question it. This situation was strange enough, maybe it affected his behavior as well.
