Though it's been a long time for me, I believe I first saw the pokemon series when it was still the original series in Kanto.

My first game that I played was leaf green. After that I played at least one of the games from each generation up until you required a nintendo 3DS, which I really could not be asked to get, as that was the time I got in PC gaming, but I still enjoy to load up the old games and go through them every once in a while.

Oh and games like pokemon mystery dungeon and pokemon ranger were games I also played. I am a little disappointed now that they aren't releasing any new pokemon ranger games.

I constantly think about how grateful i am to the people who run this game. yes , there are long maintenences and sometimes glitches happen , but that is true for any online game. the good people who run ptcgo do their best and work hard to keep the game running. it may seem easy to run an online game but its not. i have had my hand in enough game development to know that something can always go wrong and it can take a while to get things working just right. it really shocks me to see what some people say about the the people who run this game. We wouldn't even be able to play this game if it wasnt for there hard work. All im saying is that we could show a little more respect to the people who make one of the games we enjoy the most possible.

Pokemon has been around since most of us here were kids; long time, so I'm curious if you ever got into heated debates over Pokemon themselves, cards, other franchises, etc.

Pokemon, both the anime and games, started airing in the States when I was in mid-middle school and it was all the rage. We loved the cards, the games, and would rush home immediately after school to watch the latest episodes. I dragged my mom to get cards (the worst ones possible too) for me to play with everyone else, etc.

But at the time, given my personality type, there was a little show called Digimon that I literally hated more than life itself because in my mind it was the "ripoff Pokemon". Despite the fact I never watched it. Oh, I hated it. I couldn't say enough bad things about it.

And one day after school, after Pokemon was over, I turned it to Fox for Digimon just to laugh at how stupid the characters looked, etc, and that damn theme song got right in my head, where I was listening to it again and again.... while still parading around the Anti-Digimon mentality persona I had at school.

And then I started watching it, from the beginning, and man, it was good. I wanted to keep watching it. I grew obsessed and I realized this actually even had a plot and characters, unlike Pokemon.

And when I grew out of Pokemon (the anime at least), I still had a soft spot for Digimon, and still it invaded my line of thinking quite a lot. I became a bit obsessed.

The dub of Digimon now is one of the worst things ever, but I can imagine if I gave it a chance in Japanese, I'd still find it pretty enjoyable.

Just hilarious that I was so adamant against it as a ripoff without ever giving it a chance, and yet I wound up liking it more.

Out of every single Pokemon Region, you are given the ULTIMATE task by the professor to fill the pokemon pokedex. What he tells you is that the purpose to do so is to catalog every single last pokemon, so that the information will serve to better their study or something like that.

But here is the thing, the pokedex already has all the information about every single pokemon in existence. So, adding a new pokemon to your pokedex does in no way further the research of the pokemon world, since everything that ever could be known about that pokemon, and all pokemon is already known. So, there is no point in sending a child out into the world in order to capture a number of pokemon that they are financially incapable, and physically incapable of taking care of.

There are several reasons I think this.

1. When you capture a new pokemon, you already know the opposing pokemons name already, which means its not a new species.

2. When you capture the pokemon, you do not get to choose what the pokemon is called. For instence, if you capture a Pikachu, you don't get to call it Pikachu the Iron Stallion Pokemon. It's pokemon type, Information about the history of the pokemon which would be impossible through any kind of scanning or dna testing is already unlocked in your pokedex. As well as its average height and weight, type etc. This means that everything that your pokedex tells you about it is already known.

3. The information is given to you only AFTER you capture it, and immediately afterwards. Which means the info on all pokemon is already in the pokedex system. Its just DLC at the time. ( Disk Locked Content).

4. Other people own pokemon that you have not captured, and the information on them is not already automatically available to you in the pokemon dex. This means information about pokemon is out right restricted from you INTENTIONALLY.

So this leaves a few things debunked about WHY we have to fill our pokedex.

1. It does nothing for the research of the pokemon professor since all the information you "gather" is already known to that pokemon professor.

2. It does nothing for being on an adventure, since catching them all does not make you understand any pokemon better, it just means you have more of them.

3. It cannot be a friendship lesson since the more friends a person has the less friends a person has. You cannot grow intimate friendships when you converse with 700 people a day that you consider a friend.

4. It is irresponsible to have that many pets. Therefor, the purpose of the adventure cannot be about teaching responsibility of any kind. Nor can it be about setting goals as this is an unrealistically irresponsible goal to have.

Hey everyone, this is just something I'm posting for fun, get some some of the creative juices flowing for those who want to participate. Anyway, anybody who has clicked on the TV in the games, that at random, has either news, a commercial, something educational, or even a scen from a old movie in the real world, like describing a scene from the movie Stand by Me. Hey, even on ORAS, Pokémon took a crack at Super Sentai/Power Rangers, with the Hoenn Rangers Coexistance Force.

So right now, those of you who want to flex your imagination, imagine what kind of shows they would play in the Pokémon World. You can do a bit of a crossover, like use something from the games, anime, or anything from the Pokémon franchise that would be seen differently in said world, or an actual show or movie, or something from this world, that could be use as a bit of a crossover.

Here are some examples:

The Pokémon Trading Card Game, being given a Yugioh touch, that is either just another series in the Pokémon world, or an actual spectator event.

Todd from Pokémon Snap doing a National Geographic type show where he records wild pokemon that are protected from capture of any kind.

Pokémon Ranger meets Yogi Bear, in a way, where a Ursaring is the Pokémon version of Yogi, and a Teddiursa is Boo-Boo.

Pokémon Stadium is used for a tournament type sport involving Trainers

If you want to come up with something, even come up with a scene. like say, picture Machoke playing pro baseball, and when at bat, hits a homer so hard, the ball fly out of the park and brings down a blimp by puncturing it with a hole, making it sink down like a balloon.

Well this challenge is simple. I need a group of 3 or more people for this tournament. We will be doing generation 1 through generation 5 as a nuzlocke and after each gym we will be taking our current team at the time and using them to face off against each other. We also have a point system to insure that that even last place can still somehow win in the end. If you are interested in doing this challenge, please leave me a message on here.

Below is the list of rules and how you get points.

You can only catch the first Pokemon in each given area1
If a Pokemon dies it must be perm boxed
You must nickname all the Pokemon you can
Players must tell others what each of their Pokemon are.
After each gym leader is beaten, all participants must go to showdown and fight with their Pokemon^2 & 4
Static Pokemon and pokemon given to you are free and do not use up the encounter for that area. ^3
Only use Speed Up for grinding levels.
Before fifth gym means restart with a new rom and catch up. After fifth it means your out for the gen
One Legendary per team during pvp battles.
^1.) If that Pokemon uses a self destructing move, roar, or a move to run away then you get another attempt

^2.) You can choose the ev/iv of your Pokemon until the fifth gym.
^3.) Static Pokemon are Pokemon that are found in the field and usually need to be spoken to to fight them.
^4.) If your pokemon’s level goes 3 or more levels above the gym leader’s ace then you will not be able to use that pokemon in the showdown battle.

Point System.

Rival Defeat: 5 points
Pokemon Captured: 2 points
Gym Leader Defeat: 10 points
Gym Leader No Healing Items Bonus: 5 points
E4 Defeat: 20 points
E4 Champ Defeat: 25 points
E4 No Healing Item Bonus: 10 points

hello,

I wanted a Pokemon I couldn't catch yet that was found in the tall grass of a neighbor's garden. I decided to trespass and noticed that the neighbor had covered the grass with a tarp that looked like some sort of mat you'd see on the floor of a kindergarten. I sat on the tarp, pulled it up and started rubbing my feet in the tall grass, hoping to get a random encounter when I overheard the man talking to a police officer. I then ran up to them and shouted "Gimme a Cutiefly!". The officer just folded his arms and gave the man a serious-looking glare. Then I woke up. I don't even know why I wanted a Cutiefly of all things. It seemed so random to me. Wanting a Houndour, Stufful or Mienfoo would make more sense in a case like mine.

Hi Guys,
Dunno if this has been done, but which types do you think have the best designs overall?
While not my favorite type, I think Ghost has the most consistently good designs overall, such as haunter, sableye, banette, chandelure, Decidueye, Dhelmise and all the ones based on ancient civilisations:legends such as Golurk, Cohagrigus, Aegislash and Frosslass
Not to mention great legendaries such as Giratina, Lunala and Marshadow

I dislike Pikachu clones, but other electric types have dope designs too, from electric sheep (based on the novels that inspired blade runner), anglerfish, eels and spiders to wolves and lions

Grass, water and Bug types tend to be consistently great for me too. What about you guys?

Like I said in my previous post post in the 'Your interest in the franchise right now', I psyducking love Pokemon. But even hardcore fans like me can't remember literally all 802 and counting creatures it has given us. So what are some of those critters who just slip under your mind?

For me it's Hippowdon. Has it ever had any relevance to the games, like has it been an ace for a gym or anything? Maybe not. It's also hideously ugly too, so that's another reason why I've never bothered to keep it my mind. It doesn't offer anything new from other Ground mons too, so that combined with the above reasons means that I'll probably never use it over other Grounds. I guess having Sand stream means that it's kinda useful in competitive but I don't play competive. So yeah, Hippowdon is easily the most forgettable and obscure mon, in my eyes.

Other than that, I dunno. Maybe there are more but I actually did forget their existence lol. Though in a recent example, I actually totally forgot Unown's existence, until I saw someone use it in a nuzrun and had it die. I don't think I've ever seen someone use an Unown before, let alone have it die, so that must be how I forgot about until then, so I guess that makes it another forgotten one here lol. So what are some mons you occasionally forget over time?

I've been having trouble knowing which Pokemon I should use (to evolve or power up).

- So if 1 Pokemon has a Higher CP and the other has a higher HP, which one is better?
- What about the white bar? If 2 Pokemon have similar stats, is the one that is a little less filled the stronger one? (better to level up, what if not going to use stardust on it?)

I tried a couple of those IV Calculators, but they seem to be such broad ranges (50-90% or 60-80%, or not able to calculate), so it doesn't seem to do much for me. I never really understood the IV training in the Pokemon Gameboy games either.

I have been thinking a lot about it and first of all I'd like to see the buddy system get improved I mean the distance needed to travel for one candy is ridiculous it should be lower not much but some also I'd like to see my Pokemon following me in real time not just as an invisible partner and then the trainer versus trainer battle system I'd like to see it vamped up not just the gym battle set up honestly I hate it I'd rather have the swiping motion left right to Dodge up to jump down to duck giving us the chance to Dodge with a more realistic command of our Pokemon also the tapping to attack for basic such as scratch or bite but with a command prompt for 2 other attacks that energy must be built up for before using this battle feature I'm sure would give us all a more realistic feel as well as something we have all wanted for a long time in a Pokemon game to be just like ash and tell our pikachu to jump Dodge block an attack with an attack to truly be in the folds of battle not just your Pokemon has 100 cp more than mine you win but you were the better trainer also a bonding experience would be nice I remember playing Pokemon and keeping some that I had for so long just because they had been with me through so much and we don't have that here what we have is a meat grinder if the cp is low into the grinder they go no remorse no second thoughts no issues no bond the buddy system tries to fix it to a point let me see my buddy with me and a bond can form lol the movesest can be horrible as well I got my first gyrados after hunting down all those karps and got a1700 cp gyrados with the worst movesets ever that's been awhile now I have 3 over 2300 but only one has great moves I'd like a way to change moves maybe with enough candies you can change it randomly say gyrados cost 50 karp candies to change a move allowing you to keep Pokemon longer hold them because you love them and give us more of the nostalgic feel for the old days but this is all what I'd like to see don't know if others agree or not but

To be honest, I'm not all that interested in Pokemon Go, as I'm not much of a mobile game person. However, my sister has really wanted me to try the game and play with her and her husband. Thing is, I use a Lumia 950, so I obviously can't get the game on there.

The initial solution was for me to use my brother-in-law's Galaxy S4, tether it to my 950, and go forth in that manner. However, upon setting up the phone (and a Google account...) and installing the app, it continuously gave a GPS error. This was despite numerous settings changes, including having the GPS on High Accuracy, GPS-only, and data-only (WiFi/cellular). I also attempted tethering it to my 950 via WiFi (though not Bluetooth, which this game seems uninterested in), and I tried having it on a strong, local WiFi connection. In every case, I was unable to get it to find a GPS signal.

The GS4 is on Verizon, my 950 is on AT&T. I can't just swap the SIM in. Android complains every time I power on the phone that I will not be able to do some stuff without a SIM card, but I've got no clue the extent to which that takes effect (just no cellular stuff, or does android/Samsung restrict it even further?). So, does anyone have an idea if you can do what I'm attempting, tethering the phone as a WiFi-only device? Would I need to get the GS4 unlocked from Verizon, or even root it, to get it to cooperate? Would getting the phone unlocked let me throw in the AT&T SIM (I can't remember the band setups on those things, is it a universal radio?)?

Yet another complaint post but... what the heck is this Christmas event? This was like the definition of a letdown. It's Christmas, which would be the perfect time to release gen 2(I mean all of it). People have money/gifts. They started the month trying to hype people up about new stuff coming. They start it by giving us hope for gen 2. I guess their idea of releasing it is only releasing 8 Pokémon, and only allowing them to get it by hatching eggs.. may I remind you that it's winter and it's cold asf. This would've been okay to do in the summer but really? It's like they don't think at all. I've actually hatched a lot of eggs since and it's been the same bs I've been hatching since July. If they want a staggered release of Gen 2 there's gonna be no comeback to the game. Release it all at once so players have more time to catch them. While players try to fill their pokedex you guys could.. i don't know actually work on making the game better rather than adding these minor conveniences to the game. Right now there's not really a point to the game other than filling your pokedex and putting a Pokémon in a gym for a whole 10 minutes. And.. then their idea of a Christmas update is putting a Christmas hat on pikachu.. that's all. Yeah these will be valuable when trading comes out but at the rate it's going that won't be out for like another couple months. And the main event are these gifts which require you to spend money, 1 incubator with 1 use(very generous) per day, increase spawns of the special pikachu, and increase egg hatches for the new Pokémon. It's very obvious you want us to spend money on incubators that require us to walk around for hours at a time in freezing weather. I get not every place on earth is freezing but a lot are, and since this a global game niantic shouldn't favor one part of the globe over another. So good job. My family is really disappointed in this as well as me. I heard though the other half of the event is increased spawns for the starters which is good because two of the few Pokémon I need to complete my pokedex are Venusaur and Charizard... it's not too bad of an event but a full release of gen 2 would be sooo much better for their popularity. I'm hoping that voicing my concerns could help improve the game but chances are they'll just add something else no one really asked for.
Also: is it just me or does everything jump out more than before?

Hi, I'm trying to hatch my eggs bur it seems to be very difficult for the app to recognise me walking.
I have genuinely walked the distance but it only recorded a quarter of that. I also have to keep the game and screen on in my hand otherwise it doesn't do anything. That's not a problem for the Iphone, if the screen is off and in a pocket it still registers the distance.

I'm using a 6P. Any thoughts on what I can do? Is there a setting I can change so the app is still working when screen off? (I switched from iPhone to android so still trying to work out all settings available)

I've come across one too many rare Pokémon that have ran from me. I use razzberries, try to curve ball and hit them but I just find it nearly impossible to catch super rare Pokémon. I've had a snorlax and a raichu(just today) run from me and they're the only ones aside from Persian that are in my seen but not caught club. When I saw the raichu on my radar I was barely excited because I knew I probably wasn't going to catch it. Any tips to make catching Pokémon easier? Especially if they're farther away because i'd hate to run into another snorlax just to have it flee again.

I was at a local shopping center this morning and had some Pokémon pop up around me while driving through the parking lot. Had to resist the urge to stop where I was, so I got out and walked. Others popped up, so I imagined driving around the [mostly empty] lot picking them up. Since it's a parking lot, it would be busy later when the rest of the stores open, so you definitely need to be aware of your surroundings when searching for and capturing them.

Also be careful when you go out -- I've read some are available at night, but with that said don't go to a park in the middle of the night by yourself (many are closed at dusk anyway). Just use some common sense and have fun.

Do any of your close friends or family play Pokemon GO? How about your boss or your colleagues at work? I ask because my mum has been getting into Pokemon GO recently! In fact, I think she's been playing more than I have at this point. She's currently a higher level than I am but I don't mind since that means she must be enjoying the game. I'm just glad that we both agree that Zubats are awful and that Weedles are adorable.

I think it's really cool how this game can bring people together though. I never thought I'd have a pokemon catching competition with my mum out of all people?! I suggested a competition as a joke but now she says that if I win, I get 20 dollars. We haven't had a competition yet since I've been busy with school but we'll probably be having one over the weekend. I've also been teaching her a lot about the different Pokemon and what items and Pokestops do which I honestly thought I'd never have to do. So that's my small story! What about you guys?
