Laughing at Riesbyfe's remarks, they can't escape the true weight in his words. It was true after all - going from being nothing but a nervous kid yourself, anxious to meet every expectation set by your superiors - what must the new pages think now? Are they nervous, excited? Terrified? "Crud, they'll probably expect me to be able to calm 'em down..." He thinks, sporting a worried expression. "My biggest apologies in advance." They pat their arm. "Thanks, I'm sure you're going to be great too. If they disrespect you, just call me up!" He does a goofy fighting pose at that moment and begins to look for a way to clean his armour. Have to be ready! David Having long let go of Steven, she opts to sit and wallow in her own thoughts. There is silence around her, the noise of children fading out in the background. It's never complete quiet in the Wastelands, she supposes, a direct contradiction of what she used to think. The trees swaying in the wind, the hushed conversations of the people who call this land home, and of course the children who try their best every day, she's sure. She looks their way, seeing them play peacefully, when she spots one particular kid approach a person in a cloak. Scrunching her eyes at first, realization sets in as she bolts over to them and pulls the child away, mumbling hurried apologies under her breath. The child looks confused up at her, but there's no time to explain. "Leader, I am so sorry if Zlata caused any problems, we just wrapped up our story time segment, the kids were sent out to recess, I didn't keep an eye out for their whereabouts, I apologize." Clef puts a hand to their chest in an offended motion. "Me? Not being completely up-to-date ready-to-go ready? Oh Ries, you wound me!" They aren't actually annoyed, made clear by the smile on their face, but it's not like they were telling clear-cut truth. Clef has a vague idea of what was going to happen, sure, but indicating that they weren't quite sure about the act of being assigned a page - to suddenly have a responsibility over someone's life and training - it wasn't a comforting thought. He opted to repress these excessive emotions. Riesbyfe's addition of the fact that it'd all go smoothly did soothe Clef though, if only momentarily. "Sure it will! I bet everyone will be praying their hearts out to be a page for Sir Riesbyfe." He chuckles. David "Hm? What was that, Steven?" David looks over at the fox plushie in her hand with feigned confusion. She hears the children around her waiting in suspense. It's not exactly a surprise on what's going to happen next, but setting a routine for them has proven to be quite succesful. "It's time for free play? Why, thank you for reminding me. Guess I better say that to everyone then!" Of course, the 'them' in question had already heard this verbal conversation, and announced that to David in excited voices. Waving her hand, the children took this as a sign to go out and play. Different games were already set in notion, varieties of tag and hide 'n seek ongoing, so David was all alone to her own devices. She looks at the fox plushie, suddenly looking more defeated than ever, no longer held alive by the imagination of children. Mumbling quick 'good morning's to whoever they pass by as they stroll through the kingdom, Clef runs through the schedule of today in his head yet again. It's a big day, after all. Forced to be quiet at the dinner table and listen to their father ramble on and on about this very ceremony, the one that changed his life forever... or something like that. Truth be told, Clef only remembered hating the taste of mashed potatoes of that dinner and the strained smiles when their dad looked at them. They hope this ceremony will be just like their dad said, or at least they guess they do. Arriving at the castle doors, they turn and walk in the direction of the barracks, seeing a familiar tall face. "Hey Riesbyfe, you ready for the evening?" David "Yep! It's a biiiig day for everyone today, so you have to be extra polite to all the adults, okay?" Seated in the middle of a half-circle with children to her left and right, David strategizes a plan to not get the Wasteland kids all too riled up. Maybe they know, maybe they don't, but children can for sure sense uncertainty in anyone, no matter how well you are at hiding it. They need to know not to be afraid. "Now! Name: Clef Euphonium Age: 18 Gender/Pronouns: she/he/they Role: Knight Appearance: White, long and thin hair slicked back, brown eyes. Wears leather pants and a wool shirt - has iron armour on knees and hands for daily use. Personality: Growing up, she was constantly told by her parents how he'd grow up to be a lovely knight and protect the kingdom, so... that he did. He aspires to be greater than he is, thereby giving himself very high standards for how he's supposed to be. They're generally very approachable, but they can unintentionally seem rude by being very direct and unfortunately not being all too well at putting themselves in others' shoes. Name: David Euphonium Age: 18 Gender/Pronouns: she/her Role: Floater, specialty in caretaking of the wasteland's children, can treat most wounds if not too extreme. Appearance: Medium, black hair - is sometimes seen with braids done by children. Not the absolute most fancy clothes in the world, but does have a bracelet she's pretty fond of... Personality: Although her occupation is mostly taking care of children, David tries her best to distance herself socially from others. It is needed to survive that she does the little networking that is required in a community such as the Wastelands, but she does prefer to stay silent and sit alone in peace. She saves face for children, smiling so they don't have to worry as much. Equipment: Other than her bracelet, she bears some band-aids and towels. She has a small stuffed fox, although most of it is torn to pieces, called Steven. She lends it to children if they end up hurt. Backstory: She was abandoned by the wastelands at age 4, so her memories from before are pretty shaky. She grew up here and learned to appreciate the people around her, although her past from inside the Kingdom had set permanent scars on her way to interact with others. The prices vary a lot from shop to shop, but I think 50 - 250K PD for a full piece is pretty normal (?) Some people also do Pay What You Want where it's up to the individual user ordering from the shop to decide what they wanna give as payment. Most people put their art shops in the Fanmades section of the forum :) [Read more] |

Sure, some villains take their sweet time and chat to heroes as if nothing was wrong, but this just seemed... weird. Who wastes their time giving tea to their prisoners? After having observed a light Q&A between the... creature, and a seemingly young child, he decided enough was enough. If you're a villain having chats, you're at least supposed to answer the most frightening questions. So, he walked up to them - what did they call themself, Vortex? - and gave them a piece of his mind. "Excuse me, are we supposed to blindly trust what you say? You must at least know why you captured us. I can't believe that you're this unknowing, so spit it out." [Read more] |
