Title: Epic the Musical

Epic is EPIC.

All these songs are bangers but the ones I’ve gotten stuck in my head this week since being recommended the musical are (in order)

- Open Arms (Polites my beloved!)
- Warrior of the Mind (Athena’s VA is PHENOMENAL)
- God Games (Had Athena and Hera’s exchange in my head all yesterday lol)
- Love in Paradise (I feel for Calypso, man.)
Wouldn’t You Like (Hermes’ laugh is everything!)

I might’ve missed one... can’t think of it right now though; something with Circe, I think? That’s my favorite saga lol. Also, the difference between this Hermes and André de Shields’ Hermes in Hadestown is jarring but so good.

Title: Life Update

Activity’s been low because I started uni! I’ve got two English classes (so there’s a LOT of reading), and the focus topic for the longer of the two deals with vampires in literature. Vampires! I feel so lucky to just be there. Unfortunately, our first book, Dracula, isn’t for me. And it’s not because it’s old (my favorite of the three books we’re covering this quarter predates the Count by a few decades), nor because it’s first person and/or epistolary (again, aforementioned fave did that too, and did it first!)—I just find it dreadfully dull. I know it’s a classic, and it’s popular for a reason, and I’d suffer so much less if I liked it, which is always my intention when I crack open anything... but I don’t. I thought I’d care more when Lucy and Mina came onto the scene, but only marginally. Drac is going to take over this entire first month as well as some of the second, so there’s still time for it to get good for me. But as of right now, it’s just a lot of reading, and I’m so glad there’s audiobooks. We also have supplementary material in the back we’re expected to read. It’s a lot. Literally and figuratively. This is the meatiest of the books we’ve got; it can only get lighter from here. I’ve gone ahead and found a recording for the only book of the course with which I’m not familiar, and while also a thick book, one, it’s hardback with a beautiful sleeve; and two, it’s very straightforward in text, so it’s easier to take in, and that’s all I can ask for. Our final book is my beloved Carmilla, and while it’s ostensibly due to its short length, the professor taking into consideration our “bruised attention spans” as he put it, I believe he saved the best for last.

My other English class is about short stories. Particularly, in the art of brevity. I spent all of last year posting daily double drabbles for my favorite ship only to turn around and have to do it all over again for this class lol.

Other than all the reading and some writing, things are going so great. The commute is easy, my legs are adjusting to the walking (though I do still get winded past a certain point; there’s a good walk between campus and the train), my body is getting used to waking up at a reasonable time in the actual morning even before my alarm goes off, I’ve met so many cool people, and I only need to be up and about four times a week (Fridays are for therapy lol). This year will mark a whole decade together with my beautiful girlfriend, whom I love with everything in me. I’ve gotten into tarot thanks to her making me watch Agatha All Along (after WandaVision, natch, for context), and in exchange she FINALLY watched The Sound of Music (and she LOVED it). Lunar New Year is just around the corner, and—though I’m not exactly enthused about it—there’s talk of traveling to the elders’ home country over spring break. Life is good. I’m on the rag at the moment so that sucks, but in general, life is great.

The only thing I will say is that the imposter syndrome has hit me hard. Like, damn. Not only do I feel extra dumb in my vampire class (again, things would be so much easier if I liked the source!) but listening to everyone else’s pieces for my short story class makes me feel like I did the assignment wrong lol. It doesn’t help I submitted my first piece the way we were taught to do so in high school (LastName,FirstName_AssignmentName) which puts me at the very end in terms of presenting. I’ll need to fix that. I suppose that’s why the professor has us put names in the assignment itself.

Overall, I’m doing well. And I don’t even have to keep track of how many days it’s been.

Title: Event Calculations

There’s a cap of 750pts/hour for clicking Pokémon. And feeding a Berry counts for 3pts per, while Training is the standard 1pt. So one can feed 250 berries OR train 750 Pokémon (or a combo of both).

First target is 4K points. Dividing 4K into 750 means one can hit the first goal in 5 hours and 20 minutes.

But wait. There’s also a cap of 50pts per hour for the Game Center, which can be earned with more or less 3 good games of Hard-level Concentration. Adding the max per hour of both Interactions and Games can net one 800 points. Dividing 4K into that means one can hit the first goal in 5 hours exactly.

Now. After this, the goal moves to 11.2K. But the previous 4K is still there, you’re just adding onto it. So really, you only need to get 7.2K points to hit the next goal.

7.2Kpts divided by 750pts/hr = 9.6 hours
7.2Kpts divided by 800pts/hr = 9 hours exactly

And the third goal (because this game requires one to keep a living dex and I’m assuming this event has two evolutions) is 20.8K, which is an increase of 9.6K.

9.6K / 750 = 12.8 hrs
9.6K / 800 = 12 hrs

And that’s not factoring in the other things like fishing, battling, socializing, and rumbling.

If someone who has that amount of time wants to pull an all-nighter, they could easily get all three Pokémon required to keep the dex happy in a single day.

I’m lazy though. So I won’t be doing that. And this way I can do the absolute bare minimum and get all I need.
