Girl wakes up at the nurse’s office at her high school. She’s dressed for going out, complete with her wallet and whatever was in her school bag, despite knowing she went to bed in pajamas the night before. She has her ID on her, but she’s not registered in the system. Her house still stands, but it’s not hers anymore; instead, the school butt-monkey lives there.

She realizes she’s been dropped into a world in which she does not exist. Her hometown is virtually unchanged aside from this. The girl who was her best friend in her world, Vera, is still here, but, of course, this version of her doesn’t know who she is.

And to top it all off, the day before was her birthday, and her wish was to be able to spend more time with Vera.

With nowhere else to go, she heads to the local library. While gathering her bearings, she finds someone has slipped a mysterious tape in her bag, alongside a note to bring said tape to Vera later that evening. So she bides her time, and she goes. Turns out, Vera is hosting a movie night with two other girls, but they can’t agree on a movie to watch. Vera invites her in. They watch the movie she brings.

Big mistake.

The movie is her only link to the world she came from. It shows her the bad things her Vera had done, and this Vera is adamant that, while those events did happen, it did not happen like that. She didn’t do half the things that girl who shares her name did. Needless to say, everyone is upset, and Girl is horrified.

After the movie, when everyone is sent home, she tries to reason with Vera. She never would’ve showed the tape if she knew what was on it, and she didn’t look beforehand because it didn’t seem right to peek at something which wasn’t meant for her. She didn’t plan this, she doesn’t know who gave it to her, and she doesn’t know why she has to deliver it. She tells Vera who she is, that she’s from a different universe, another timeline where they’re best friends, and she has the photos to prove it, photos she always keeps on her since they’ve grown distant. To her relief, this Vera believes her, offers her a place to crash, and promises to help her find a way home. They end the night on good terms, sleeping side by side in Vera’s bed, and for the first time that day, she has hope things are going to get better.

And then the next day, she wakes up in the nurse’s office again. And Vera doesn’t know her anymore. And the tape is in her bag, alongside the note to bring it to Vera later that evening.

And she realizes she’ll have to do it all over again.

Plot is as follows:
Sweet Rich Girl leaves home, ostensibly to go on her Pokémon journey, but in actuality she’s looking for her older sister, who their parents disowned long ago. Before long, she runs into Streetsmart Tomboy Chick who invites herself to tag along. Tomboy teaches Rich Girl on battling and generally how to take care of herself. It gets very messy. Not sure if anyone wants the twists, but maybe when I have more time.
