"That's nice. At least you had people to take care of you. I think everyone should have a family, even if it's not by blood," Zigzag nodded a little, as if assuring himself. "It's important. My family taught me pretty much everything I know too. Except dancing."

Zigzag's nose twitched, as if he was trying to smell them himself. "Hm," he hummed in reply. "You said ladies raised you. Why not a family? Do you have one?" Zigzag couldn't imagine life without a family. Chao loved to joke that he would've gotten himself killed without them, but it was probably pretty close to the truth. He couldn't count the number of times one of his siblings had whacked him before he made a stupid comment or his mother had stopped him from going some place he shouldn't.

Zigzag glanced at her, blinking a little. "How do you do that?" He asked. "I mean, how do you know when I'm sad?"

"Uh," Zigzag shrugged. "I guess I wouldn't mind. Our styles are a little different, I think. Still, I'm sure we could make it work." He had before, with a lot of other pieces. He could already feel the choreographer part of his brain started to wake up again, filled with all the dusty, cobweb-covered ideas he'd never used. He didn't know why he was suddenly ready to accept it, but he had a feeling it was because of the loss of his siblings. The grief he felt over watching his best friend walk away without looking back didn't quite compare to losing his family. That was like comparing a cut to a gunshot wound.

"I," he blushed, ever so slightly. "I, ah, did a lot of different types of dance. I guess a lot of modern? I don't know..." Zigzag shrugged, kind of seeming embarrassed. "I stopped after my friend left. Didn't feel right without him. I still remember most of it, though, I think."

okay so i haven't written anything in, like, the past two weeks that i can even show here. so, have some old poetry, yeah?

Show hidden content
Flawless
You were spotless,
Clean and pure.
You were perfect
And I wanted you.
Yet,
You pushed me away,
Pushed everyone away.
So I stayed
As close as I could get,
Digging under your pristine surface whenever I could.
And I found,
Under that white shell,
You were stained
The deepest red
I had ever seen.

Condensation
You were a window,
Allowing a glimpse of untamed beauty.
People would gawk,
Pressing their foreheads to your cool surface.
I was the condensation from their bated breaths,
Fleeting, barely there,
Replaceable.
I was a stray,
And you, a traveler, brought me in,
Saying we were alike.
Yet, you left again,
Following the winds,
Laughing and smiling where I couldn't see you.
You were a promise,
Made from sobs and tears,
From broken hearts and late nights.
And I was the expectant child,
Waiting, waiting,
For you, always.
You never glanced back,
Moving on to another,
Exchanging me like a faulty piece in your machinery.
I kept counting the hours,
Turning to the clock,
refusing to give up,
Even when it became obvious,
You no longer remembered us.

i'm planning on making a background story for two of my characters sometime soon so let's hope i can post that.

"Please, no heights," Zigzag said, looking down. "But, um, I already kinda know how to dance... I mean, I haven't done it in a while..." How long had it been? Five years? Ten years? Honestly, if someone had told him two decades ago he would give up dancing voluntarily, he would have laughed at them and asked if they knew who they were talking to. His hand crept towards his pocket, where his phone was hidden.

"I..." Zigzag thought about that for a while. "I don't really have many hobbies. I like to read. And I write a little." He shrugged, nose twitching a little.

"Yeah," Zigzag replied. He still jumped a little when she touched him, but not as much. Although he's pretty sure one or both of them are going to die within a couple of weeks.

"Oh, it's fine. I just kind of overreacted, I guess," he replied. It was an understatement, but there was no reason to tell her that. He did, however, plan on finding out how much she could tell by his expressions in the near future. "Have you been crying?"

"Uh, hi again," Zigzag said, taking a step back andto keep her from running straight into him. He was very light, and she didn't seem particularly heqvy or anything, but she could probably at least throw him off balance. "Back so soon?"

Zigzag watched her run off and let her go. Didn't he predict it? Of course he messed everything up. He headed back toward Rebeka's room, waiting a few moments before entering.

Zigzag's yellow eyes narrowed and darkened, his expression turning blank. "What?" he practically hissed.

Zigzag stayed quiet for longer than strictly necessary. His nose twitched, just like a cat, and he tugged on his choker a little, attempting to unravel some of the anxious knot in his chest. "Oh, uh," he said, "yeah. I'm not really used to seeing others hurt, I guess." I'm usually the one who's hurt is the part he leaves out.

"What?" he asked, probably a bit too snappish from worry. He didn't really mean to be - he kind of liked her. But she might not even survive more than a few weeks, he might not even survive a few weeks. He couldn't get too attached.

Zigzag glanced at Michaella, question in his eyes. Silently, he tilted his head toward the door, asking as best he could, outside?

Zigzag started when she took his hand, almost pulling it out of her grip he jumped so bad. People rarely touched him for more than a few seconds purposely without permission - all of his family had asked before they initiated anything, and anyone he wasn't close with didn't want to. Honestly, he didnt know why she wanted to. Although she did seem like a nice girl, and he hadnt had a real conversation with her yet. Few nice girls stuck around after a couple of hissed snarky remarks.

Zigzag stared at Rebeka, suddenly regretting following Michaella here. He hated being around people in pain - not because he didn't know how to comfort them, because he didn't know if he should - and Rebeka was in a lot of pain. At least Talon had medicine, right? He didn't have to step in if he didn't want to.

Zigzag had heard Talon and Michaella earlier, and had decided on following them to Rebeka, but he almost gave up when he saw Michaella waiting a bit for him. Clutching his book to his chest while tugging on his sleeve, he stepped up to her and muttered, "Hi. You're going to find Rebeka, right?"

Zigzag debated going after Rebeka. He was surrounded by loud people he didn't know, and he had that weird out of place feeling without her. Then again, she was very angry, and he was kind of frightened at her outburst. He was considering remaining in a room of strangers, that's how terrified he was. He wavered between choices for a moment, but by then Rebeka was already gone. Maybe he could hear her if he got close enough, yet it was unlikely he'd manage it, this library was huge and he'd never been very good with direction. Quietly, he set his book down and glanced up at the other demons, half tempted to bolt and hide. Still, he didn't move, just pulled out his phone and surveyed the wildly different people in the room with him.
