“Ah. Shieta.” Hui Xin greets, as warmly as she could.

“And yes. I do indeed have a little plan~“

As much of heroes as the government were….eradicating the mafia would take second place if she could cause big enough of trouble someplace else. After all, they were all about damage control, weren’t they?

“Call up Xuanji. Get her to find the busiest part of the Town Square, Central Park and the Grand Avenue. Oh, and find me good vantage points that are discreet enough. Oh, and when it’s the busiest too. I want as good a view you can get from the surveillance cameras. I’ll get the lackeys to prepare two ambulances too. Boy do I have a fun game to play~“

Hui Xin grins, grabbing her coat and disguise, heading to find Ldeya.

Huixin’ phone lit up with a soft chime, the text bubbled displaying a new message from one of her lackeys “Boss, the National Security Department has dispatched the Elite Security Agency to eradicate us. They found our main base of operations”

She picks it up, swiping past the message to the files of the members of the ESA. Printing them out, she carefully took the freshly printed copies of their profiles, flipping through them. Her eyes lingered briefly on Ophelia’s picture, softening for a fraction of a second. Even her official photo looked exhausted.

Flipping to the page sectioned for her powers, she looked through it thoughtfully. Huh. Overpowered. But restricted heavily by the government.

Well…they were certainly a threat. But Huixin felt confident enough that they would be able to succeed. And it would be funny, to have the government’s puppets defeated by a bunch of kids. Speaking of kids….she should probably give Shieta a nice treat for being the resident babysitter. Maybe a nice dinner? Dinner was good for showing appreciation…right? Huixin hums, googling ‘Top 10 Ways to thank your employees’, scrolling through the ideas offered.

And now, dinner aside……what was the best way to put the government in their place? Huixin smirked, her eyes darkening. She was going to make sure there was hell to pay. For every step the National Security Department took, she would be sure to send them a warning gift. She would rain down hellfire on those that challenged the reign of her Mafia. She got up, walking out from her office, hair swaying softly as the sharp click-clack of her shoes reverberated through the hallway. Time for some fun~

You’re…right. But I’m also being nice today. We shouldn’t piss them off right from the start. Play along a little. You know what I mean?

Andrea laughs, but gets up from her chair as if she was really planning to leave

Orrrrr we could go now? If you can convince me!

I’d be pretty upset if you died. I still have plenty to show you about my various experiments”

Okay, fine. We’ll wait till after the quest. Ugh. Boring

Andrea huffs, itching to carry out her grand plans now. Why was the Quest more important than my experiments? Boo. This sucks”

“Well, I would, but by the time I go check on them they’re dead. Sad”

Andrea drawled out, not sounding sad at all.

“Maybe you can help me ask them. If they survive long enough, that is………….but that’s unlikely”

“We die too easily, which honestly kinda sucks”

“That is correct. I have observed this regardless of age group, the human mind’s inherent nature is to survive. Once you’re in a life or death situation, it really is every man for themself”

“Well, there are a few anomalies, of course, but those are few and far between”

Andrea, hums idly, clearly void of any semblance of guilt over what she’d done to humans in general. Either way, if the world thought she was a monster, what did she care?

“I don’t know, they seem pretty keen on surviving. Have you ever heard of the human gas experiments?”

Andrea asks, now genuinely showing interest in Ldeya.

“I’ve been testing the morals of humans for a while. How it works is that gas masks are hung from the ceilings, and every few minute or so they are lifted up by say, a good few centimetres. Eventually you’re going to have to stand on someone’s shoulders to survive and keep breathing in safe air from the gas masks”

Title: mother’s day

happy mother’s day, mama | in which a troubled anne tries her best to celebrate mama ray

Anne had never celebrated Mother’s Day before. With parents who slaves away at their jobs with little time to spare for the children, Anne was left to her own devices whilst her siblings were all out being ‘superstars’. This year, however, equipped with some knowledge on this special day and a mother figure she actually cared about, she decided to try and make today special for Ray. Anne stood in the kitchen, her hands trembling slightly as she put the finishing touches on the breakfast tray. She had woken up early, determined to make this Mother's Day special for Ray. The pancakes were perfectly golden, adorned with fresh strawberries, and a steaming cup of coffee sat beside a small vase of wildflowers Anne had picked herself. Granted, Anne had burnt two batches before that, as well as her fingers, but hey, to Anne, it was a good attempt nonetheless.

As she carried the tray to Ray's room, Anne's heart raced with anticipation and nervousness. Perhaps this was too much, Ray didn’t think her good enough to be a daughter. Perhaps she had made the pancakes wrongly. No, she couldn’t have, she followed the recipe to the very last word. This was considered a nice thing to do for Mother’s Day. She had spent weeks planning this day, hoping to see a genuine smile on her mother's face. How could it not be perfect? But when she entered the room, ‘Mama’ barely looked up from her phone, mumbling a quiet "thanks" as Anne set the tray down. Anne could feel her heart shatter at the lack of a genuine smile. Why? Why did she feel like this? It was….nothing big, was it? Just some pancakes and flowers…….so why did she feel this way? Why did she feel so crushed by Ray’s tired, halfhearted response?

It wasn’t like Anne did some grand thing after all…..why would Ray even bat an eyelash?

Throughout the day, Anne's carefully planned gestures were met with halfhearted responses. The handmade card elicited a brief nod, and the photo album Anne had painstakingly assembled was flipped through with disinterest. Anne’s hands shook as she waited eagerly for approval. Approval that never came. To the ordinary family, these treats for Mother’s Day would be the norm, but to the young Anne with little to no knowledge on how families should be, each simple action felt like a massive effort on her part. Each lackluster reaction chipped away at Anne's resolve, only serving as a reinforcement that she would never, ever be good enough for Ray. Even if she tried her very, very hardest.

The final blow came during the photoshoot of Illusion Studio’s models. As the various models posed for their photos, Ray’s suppressed grief, stress, and anger all coming out at once when several of the Studios’ staff admitted to making a mistake that would set them back by hours. Her mother's patience wore thin, and Ray snapped. "Can we just be done with this? Properly, without any of your stupid mistakes this time?" Ray snapped, her voice laced with irritation.

Anne lowered the final gift box she was holding, her face a mask of calm while her heart shattered inside. She flinched, putting the box away with steady hands that belied the turmoil within, refocusing for the photoshoot. As she watched a frustrated Ray retreat to her office, Anne allowed herself a single, quiet moment of grief for the Mother's Day she had imagined – one filled with warmth and connection – before locking away her disappointment behind her usual stoic facade, smiling brightly for the cameras as she posed, shoulders slightly sagged with the weight of crushing disappointment of not being able to make Ray’s Mother’s Day special.

The day after Mother’s Day
Anne thought it was all over. That she could go sob in a corner over the failure, but at least in peace. However, Ray’s shrill voice soon cut through her heart like a knife, and Anne scurried to see what the matter was. Oh. Her room. Right. Littered messily with hot glue stains, torn paper and everything else she had forgotten to clean up in her hurry to get Ray’s gifts prepared. As Ray lectured her on the importance of….well, whatever Ray was saying, all Anne could hear was her heart beating faster and faster, Ray’s voice nothing more than a distorted and angry yell. Still furious and hurt from the previous day, Anne hurled her feelings out in a cruel stream of words. ”Its no wonder no one loves you. Who could love a monster?”

“Do I believe in the value of living? Eh…..maybe.”

“But do they? Of course, when you force them into fatal situations there’s really no such thing as friends anymore. Everyone wants to survive, and they wouldn’t bat an eye at using others to achieve that”

Andrea smiled, happy to have someone who didn’t shy away from the thought of human experimentation. Maybe she would try being friends with Ldeya. Maybe.

“I’m sure there are other people equally interesting”

Andrea laughs softly

“Humans are interesting. Just not so much in the way you’d expect. After all, it’s a wonder what the mind can do when fear is involved. Humans…are surprisingly determined to survived. Parade your kindness all you like, but we are all incredibly selfish beings”

Andrea hummed as she thought about it

“They’d do anything to survive. Anything

“I’d love to. If I could, that is. Maybe one day I’ll bring you to my lab. I don’t do the….well, unsavory in broad daylight, now do I?”

Andrea lets out a sharp chuckle, downing the last of the wine

“I like you. You’re the first I’ve ever known who’s shared my beliefs. Sure, not all of them, but almost no one gets me. They say I should be put in a hospital”

She laughs again, a smile on her face.

“You don’t find us humans interesting, Ldeya?”

A lot. Though none of it is willing, unfortunately. If only humans used more of their brains…but sadly that seems out of the question for now.

I do research, as you can probably guessed. Started off with plants and stuff. But humans are far more interesting. Intelligent not so much, but interesting…well I’d say they’re plenty interesting. So much to pick apart and discover. I learn something new every time.

If I told you, would you believe me?

Andrea asks, looking up as Ldeya. She lazily waved her hands, bringing one of her dolls to life and taking the wine glass it presented. She hands it to Ldeya and pours her another drink, before sighing

I like to experiment, see. The human mind works in curious ways and there’s so much untapped potential within all of us.

Andrea brushed the doll’s hair as she spoke, before lifting it up to show Ldeya two very lifelike eyes in the doll’s face, in place of where the normal drawn on or plastic eyes would be.

How else do I get them to trust me, dear Ldeya? Sure, I’m pretty, but I still need more than that. You know? After all. I need them for….things. Plus it’s a good way to get free gifts. People are suckers for a charming personality.

Andrea chuckles dryly. She could sense Ldeya wasn’t the type to care about public appearances, and she honestly respected that. But as much as she shared the same beliefs, she also had her other motivations

Andrea let out a scoff of disbelief “More like it’s some fetch quest where we do the dirty work for them. Graduation Quest my foot, more like free labor.”

A bored yawn, before she spoke up again “Hopefully it’s exciting. I don’t expect to waste my time here” Andrea rummages in her luggage, pulling out a bottle of hard liquor that probably…likely wasn’t included in the packing list. She poured herself a glass, and handed another to Ldeya. “Cheers. Hope I- we don’t die of boredom”

Andrea huffs and glares at the others in the auditorium. “I’d rather be sleeping, Ldeya. This is a very poorly planned graduation”

“Hmmm? Oh yeah. Andrea. Andrea Kingsley. That’s me.” Andrea glances up at Ldeya tiredly, offering the girl a half smile. “Nice to meet you Ldeya” Andrea replies, smile perhaps a little more fake than usual. Looking Ldeya up and down, she smirks a little “Not particularly excited to graduate, are you? Well neither am I”

Title: Flower Crown | Blossoming Bud (Picture Not So Perfect)

In the quiet countryside, far from the hustle and bustle of city life, Anne's family lived in a small, weather-beaten shack. The roof leaked whenever it rained, and the walls creaked with every gust of wind. Despite their financial struggles, Anne's parents did their best to create a loving home for their children. Anne, the youngest of four siblings, always felt like she was living in the shadow of her older brothers and sisters.

Her siblings, though kind, often overshadowed her with their achievements, however modest. Her eldest brother, Ethan, was the best mechanic in the village, known for his ability to fix anything. Her sister, Alice, an excellent cook, her dishes bringing smiles to everyone who tasted them. Even the mischievous youngest brother, Jack, had a knack for storytelling that captivated the neighborhood children. Anne, however……well, she struggled to find her own place.

From a young age, Anne knew that her family's poverty was a heavy burden. She watched her parents work tirelessly, her father laboring in the fields and her mother taking up odd jobs around the village. Anne wanted more for herself and her family. She was determined to escape the cycle of poverty and to prove that she alone was capable of achieving greatness.

Anne devoured every book she could find, from tattered old novels to school textbooks her siblings had discarded, fishing the grimy, torn books from the dustbins before cleaning them off with the utmost care. Each book was a treasure trove of knowledge waiting to be discovered. She spent countless hours studying, often by candlelight, as her family slept. The more she learned, the more she dreamed of a different life. She envisioned herself living in a grand house, wearing elegant clothes, and mingling with the upper class. But these dreams were not just fantasies; they became her driving force.

Her dream became her goal, her determination turned into an obsession. Anne sought perfection in everything she did. She practiced her handwriting until it was flawless, rehearsed speeches until they were captivating, and honed her skills until she excelled in all her subjects. Her teachers noticed her dedication and began to give her extra attention, seeing a spark in her that was rare in their small village.

Despite her achievements, Anne's relationship with her family grew strained. Her parents and siblings didn't understand her relentless pursuit of excellence. They saw her long hours of study and her increasing detachment as a sign that she was abandoning them. Anne's mother would often find her lost in thought, staring out the window at the distant city lights. "Anne, come back to us," she would say, but Anne's mind was already miles away.

Anne's transformation wasn't just academic. She observed the behavior of the wealthy visitors who occasionally passed through the village. She noted their manners, their speech, and their poise. She practiced these traits in front of the mirror, perfecting a charming smile and a graceful demeanor. She knew that to fit into the world she aspired to join, she had to become someone entirely different.

As Anne grew older, her hard work began to pay off. She received a scholarship to a prestigious school in the city, a place where she could finally prove herself. Leaving her family behind was the hardest decision she ever made, but she was resolute. With a heavy heart and a determined spirit, Anne set off for the city, vowing to return one day as a success.

In the city, Anne's transformation was complete. She adopted the persona of a confident, sophisticated young woman. Her charm and talent won her many admirers, but few knew the true Anne hidden beneath the surface. The distance from her family grew, both physically and emotionally, as she climbed the social ladder.

Anne's success story became well-known, but only she knew the cost. Her obsession with perfection, her relentless drive to be the best, and her carefully crafted facade left little room for genuine connections.

”Oh shit, why are half of them kids?”

Name: Liang Hui Xin
Age: 25
Gender/Sexuality: Female/asexual-demiromantic
Alliance: Mafia
Position in Alliance: Boss
Appearance:

Personality:
ISTJ | 1w2 | TiSe
Huixin is the boss for a reason. Charming, deceptive, yet calculating and cruel. Huixin is someone who is not to be messed with, a ruthless logician under the guise of a charismatic beauty. Being in the mafia leaves little room for mistake, with every step comes the possibility of being ambushed by the security agency. Hence, Huixin is careful to plan every attack, she and her crew carrying out each mission with frightening precision and efficiency. If you’re planning to stand in her way, you better be prepared to be completely obliterated.

That isn’t to say she doesn’t care for her mafia, though. Despite being a little emotionally detached, she tries her best to treat them well, whether it be a nice meal or the occasional gift.

Ability:
Reality Warping.
Huixin is able to change, create, or even destroy parts of or the entirety of reality. Basically, she can freely control and alter reality, potentially even having complete control over it. One drawback is that the world must be balanced. For example, if she wanted to make the sky green, then grass would have to become blue. Furthermore, the extent to which she uses her energy depends on how grand the change is, as well as how big the space is.

Weakness:
Huixin can be rather harsh and brutal at times to her own crew. She’s not quite sure who she really is at times, having been numbed to emotions

Reality warping depends on how strong an emotion is, too. So weaker emotions like anticipation wouldn’t trigger a very realistic change, and misdirection of her magic may hurt those around her.
History:
She took in Yu Xuanji after she had been abandoned by her parents, providing her with a roof over her head and the occasional warmth of a mother

About Ldeya Starlys : Executive
“Ldeya? She’s very capable, and she’s drop dead gorgeous. Extremely useful when the target is some annoying middle aged man. She’s executive for a reason. I would know, I appointed her myself. She seems eager to learn the ropes, and I must say, she has a lot of potential to be the boss if I ever step down. She’s my little prodigy student.”
About Yu Xuanji : Member
“Xuanji? She’s the little baby of the mafia. I took her in, see, poor thing was traumatised by her brother’s suicide. I’d love her like my own, that is, if I knew how to love. She’s talented, albeit a bit cheeky at times, but she’s young, she’s still got lots to learn”
About Mun Saeng-i : Medic
“Saeng-i? Oh, you mean little salmon. Our resident medic, and talented too….it’s just that she is a little impatient sometimes. She could achieve so much more if she put her mind to it. But poor thing, I don’t blame her. She’s still young anyways. She’ll learn the ropes, she has Shieta
About Shieta Ravil: Chief Medic
“Shieta? Well, you know how those games of Werewolf and ironically, Mafia, that we used to play, there was this role called witch? That’s Shieta for you. Resident mom and fun-spoiler. Say….I probably should pay her for being a therapist and babysitter too”
About Liyue: Member
“Liyue? She’s far too pure and innocent. I wish I could give her a brother…but I don’t think Shieta would approve of me taking some little child’s life to swap for a brother for little Liyue.”
