Floria had ran off into the group to find help, when she heard Zaru’s cry. Her heart dropped like a stone and despair began clawing its way into her mind. She turned and ran back to Linii, tears pricking at her eyes. “Linii!!” She cried, desperately hoping for a response. If only it were summer. If she had her grass-type moves she could have done something. She shoved her nose into Linii’s fur as silent tears ran down her snout. She laid down and cried with Zaru, sobs racking her body. She told herself she wouldn’t lose another one... why hadn’t she done something!?
A wave of emotions had hit her like a smack in the face, and the overwhelming feeling just made things worse. She pulled away, tears wetting her face, and shook her head. There must be something they could do! But deep down, she felt it was hopeless. She laid her head down on her hoofs, tears running down her muzzle as she quietly mourned for her friend.

She looked up at the new Pokémon that had come over but said nothing. She didn’t trust herself to speak right now. She would let Zaru handle this. She laid her head back down, her tears slowly coming to a stop, but her hopelessness not failing to tear open the gaping hole she thought she had finally closed.

Ribbon was laying in the shade of a tree a little ways away from the main group. Lots of the Pokémon had run away before they had defeated Team Rocket, but the majority of them were there. He could see everyone tending to their wounds, helping each other, reuniting with the friends they’ve made along the way. He scoffed and layed his head on his paws. Friendships were useless, they only set you up for betrayal. He didn’t need that again. He was glad they had gotten out of there safely, but the chip on his ear was still bothering him. He stared off into the forest surrounding their little safe spot. What was stopping him from just leaving, right here, right now? He didn’t want anything to do with these weirdos. But at the same time, he knew that, deep down... he didn’t want to be alone again. He sighed. Maybe he could give this whole friends thing another try. He glanced back out at the group of Pokémon, all smiling and happy, finally free, and he smiled to himself. At least they were happy. At least it was over.

Floria was laying with Linii, making sure that she was ok. She had been scared out of her mind that night, and she vowed to never let anything like that happen again. She flicked her ears, feeling the sun shine down warmly on her back, a feeling she had forgotten the feeling of for so long. She smiled softly and lifted her head, her ears picking up on a multitude of conversations as the Pokémon healed, the majority of them positive. The Zeraora was nearby, whom she had learned was named Zaru. Zaru was nice, but he seemed to carry a lot of weight that most likely shouldn’t be carried alone. However, she had yet to decide on talking to him about it. So far, she was content with resting here until they could move on and find a better place to stay. She noticed the Flareon sitting a ways away from everyone else. She had yet to learn his name, but she felt kind of sorry for him. He looked so lonely, but he also looked as though he did not want to be bothered, so she didn’t approach him. She wasn’t very injured other than a sprained ankle from tripping on a stair, and that was already starting to heal. She had learned that the shiny Eevee’s name was Margo, and she was starting to get to know some more of the Pokémon here, though a lot of them are nervous and shy. She honestly couldn’t blame them, and she did her best to make them feel safe. She couldn’t help everyone though, which is why she swore to protect those she could help with her life. She smiled to herself. Even though Team Rocket must be looking for them at this very moment, she felt a sense of calm washing over her. They were safe, at least for now, and they would be able to find a safer place in the future. While a group this large of escaped lab Pokémon may not be the best thing to stay hidden and stealthy, it was better than splitting up and losing someone. She rested her head again. She was so glad that they had finally escaped. She could see Talon again! She smiled and closed her eyes with a happy sigh.

Skie watched as the new creature Nico turned back into a lighter-looking creature. He seemed happier this way. With a happy little yip she gave her tail a wag and trotted forwards, nuzzling Nico’s hand making a happy expression with her eyes.

Ribbon quickly dashed to the other side of the cages’ area, trusting that every ‘mon was still following, holding up and leading the Leafeon as he went. With a few final, quick steps, he made it to the exit door. He pushed down on the handle, but it was locked. With an annoyed snort, he shot a blast of fire and melted the handle off the door, causing it to swing ajar, revealing a semi-lit hallway that ended in stairs going up. He glanced back at the group and called out for them to follow him, and if they ever got separated to just follow the stairs up. They lead directly to the outside.
He could tell others didn’t trust him, and they had good reason not to, but he was done taking so many close calls. With a huff, he led the group forwards once more, through the dark passageway and up the stairs. They had barely started ascending the stairs when Ribbon’s ears twitched and he heard the vines burst. “Hurry!” He shouted, and raced forwards, not waiting to see if they were following, still carrying the Leafeon on his shoulder.

Floria darted her way across the area, following the Flareon skeptically. When they made it through the exit door, Floria shivered, her fear of the dark starting to creep up on her, but she knew that any light would give them away. If, y’know, the open exit door didn’t do it enough. She sighed and pushed forwards, and upon hearing the vines snap, panic filled her chest and she raced forwards, following the Flareon’s advice to hurry. She glanced back to make sure Linii and the Zeraora were alright, and they seemed to be, but it was at that moment Team Rocket burst into the hallway and started chasing them. She yelped in fear and dashed up the stairs. Most of the Pokémon were climbing the stairs by now, and if they weren’t they were almost there. The ones at the back had started to fend off the Team Rocket grunts with their moves, but it wouldn’t be enough. She raced faster up the stairs, only checking behind her ever so often to make sure her friends were still ok. Panting hard, she climbed more, beginning to grow tired.

Skie watched in amazement as the large wolf disappeared and the other baby dragon tumbled out from their hiding spot. He cocked his head as it touched the new creature Nico and sent a wave of energy through him. Curiosity jarring him to move, he stood up and wobbled over as well to watch, his big eyes showing nothing but pure awe and wonderment. His tail flame had sparkled to life again and illuminated the new creature Nico with a kind and gentle light.

Skie squealed in fear and dove out of the way of the wolf just in time, its jaws snapping right behind her tail. She watched in horror as it prowled closer, and as the new strange creature Nico slowly lost control. She was frozen in fear and she squeezed her eyes shut, letting out a whimper. She crouched low, her tail-flame flickering with a much dimmer light than earlier, reflecting her mood. Too scared to look up at the large creature coming towards her, she ducked her head in between her claws and huddled there, awaiting the strike.

Skie blinked his eyes open. The dark cave barely shone with any light, and he could hear squeaks and noises coming from different parts of the main cave. The floor was littered with eggs, but they glowed with a warm magic, and a few of them rocked and cracked, slowly hatching. Out of his 4 days of being alive, Skie had witnessed many baby dragon hatchings. There were so many eggs, he would never have guessed the dragon population was still extremely small. He wandered around the cave for a little, playing with a few other dragons, and noticed that none of them ever looked quite like him. He never dwelled on it, but it was a bit disconcerting. He sniffed around, looking for food. The big dragons that took care of all the babies, Skie had learned to call them Mothers, didn’t seem to be around. They must be out hunting. He slipped around egg clusters and ducked under large branches and loose paddings in the Nest’s... well, nest. He finally found something he hadn’t found before- a small entrance to a small tunnel that opened up into a smaller, darker cave filled with the smell of eggs and damp nesting material. He snuck his way into the opening and squirmed through the tunnel, popping out into the open cave, nearly stepping on a tail. Wait... a tail?? Eggs don’t have tails! He looked closer and saw that it belonged to a newborn fairy-sky dragon. His eyes widened and he gave a friendly dragon-yip. It was at that moment he noticed the strange-looking, tall, skinny creature sitting in the cave as well. That didn’t look like a dragon, but it had wings just like one! Feathery wings, but still. Curiousity getting the better of him, and his lack of caution training, Skie wobbled over to the new creature and nuzzled what looked to be its hand. He gazed up at it with large, starry eyes and flicked his tail, lighting it up with a blue-purple fire and illuminating the cave with a dazzling light.

Welcome all to...

The Nest!
A mythical RP about baby dragons having to find their way in a hostile world. Join with others on your adventure, as you explore new terrain and learn to fly! Find your mother, bond with your siblings, and escape from deathly hunters. See below for the rules/other about this world! I hope you have fun! ^^

MAIN STORYLINE/BACKSTORY:

In this world, dragons and humans used to live together in harmony. However, humans slowly became more greedy for the dragons' special powers, and soon started hunting them down. This led to a war between the humans and dragons, some other mythical creatures joined either side as well but it was mostly just between humans and dragons. The dragons won the war, but after a long and gruesome battle, and their population had been worn down to 1/3 of what it was before. The humans were also affected, but the dragons decided to seek shelter and scatter in order to repopulate and get away from the evil humans. The Nest is the one main nest of dragons, with the mothers caring for the eggs until they hatch, and then caring for the young for 2 months until they are ready to go off on their own. One day, though, the Nest was attacked, and the baby dragons were forced to leave, whether they were ready or not. The mothers had to fly away, and the babies were left on their own, the new generation of dragons left with a destiny that was not theirs.
Our story begins in the Nest, right before the attack. If your dragon is a pre-born (aka not hatched yet), it will be one of the few eggs to have made it out of the Nest alive and you can choose to hatch it whenever you like.

* Gold - gold dragons have the ability of Mine, these dragons can summon ores from deep within the earth to use for anything they wish. Hunted for many generations, humans have long always sought to capture these creatures and use them for their own greed, to gather riches and take over. But these dragons, aware of mankind's thirst for power and greed, hid themselves away deep inside caves, and only through the most difficult of tasks must you complete to find this dragon and share some of its minerals. Ribbon’s mind had been encased with panic ever since the shiny Luxray shouted those dreaded words, and he could barely think straight. He was terrified to fight in case he lost control, and if he was seen by the Team Rocket grunts he was sure they would trigger the Virus. He gave a slight yelp of surprise as the shiny Eevee evolved into a Leafeon and pulled him forwards, but he didn’t resist. Following her advice, he focused on a star, and he felt his mind begin to ease, but it wasn’t enough for him. His eye started flickering, and he felt the screaming headache coming back. His breaths became quick and shallow, shaky and very noticeably upset. He shook his head, trying to clear his mind. He wouldn’t let it! He gritted his teeth and felt them flare up, catching on fire, and with a growl he shoved it back down. He saw that one of the Pokémon had covered the entrance in thick vines, blocking Team Rocket from coming in, but it wasn’t going to hold for long. Fortunately, the coverage allowed his panic to subside slightly, enough for him to think straight, and he called out to everyone. “This barricade isn’t going to hold! We need to leave now!” He shouted, looking around at everyone. The vines holding the door shuddered, and his inner panic started rising again, but he didn’t show it. “Hurry up! Follow the nearest person out, there’s an exit ‘round the back of this area, we can escape through there!”
Finishing his cry, he turned and, helping the now-Leafeon so she didn’t get left behind as her energy was noticeably low, he led them all towards the way out.

Floria was scared they would be overwhelmed- there were just so many of them! With a snort, she blew fire at the grunts, pushing them back. She noticed others struggling, and Linii got a splash of water in her face. Rushing over to help, she fought off the Team Rocket grunts that were threatening to overwhelm her friend. She then made sure that Linii and the new Zeraora was ok, when she heard a voice speak up. She looked back and saw the Flareon speaking out to them, and she agreed with him. These vines wouldn’t hold for long. She could tell in his eyes that something was wrong, though. She whispered to Linii, ”We don’t have another way out so we should follow him, just be on guard. I have the feeling something’s gonna go wrong.”
And with that, she turned and dashed off, following the Flareon and all the other Pokémon as they rushed for the opposite end of the cages, spotting an exit door.

Ribbon was startled by the shiny Eevee's gesture of compassion and her warm, gentle voice. He was shocked, but he followed what she had said and closed his eyes, calming down. As he fought it back, the headache of screams in his head died down to only a faint whisper, enough to be blown away by the wind. He calmed his mind and opened his eyes. This kind Eevee had come over to help him, despite everyone else not seeming to trust him. And, despite everything, it gave him... hope.
A feeling that he had not felt in what seemed like years now lit up his heart, and he did his best to force it back down. However, he did let a little bit of it stay, for even with his doubts and cautions, he didn't really want this feeling to go away.
Looking down at this shiny Eevee, the Pokemon that had started this whole escape thing, staring directly into her eyes, he hoarsely whispered, "Thank you."
His voice sounded scratchy and dry, just as his mouth felt, but as he stared into this powerful Eevee's eyes, he suddenly no longer felt so alone.

Floria had noticed the shiny Eevee helping the Flareon whom she had freed earlier, and she felt a twinge of guilt. But she couldn't help everyone, even if she was trying. As she hurried through the Pokemon, making sure no one was too badly hurt, her ears picked up on a multitude of conversations, some skeptical, others sorrowful, most hopeful and excited. She was glad everyone seemed to be getting along, and as she kept her eyes on the suspicious Flareon, she started to realize that maybe he wasn't so bad after all.
She finished up with the last Pokemon and went over to a space that was a little ways away to where Linii and a shiny, much powerful-looking Zeraora stood, talking, and waited for the Flareon and the Eevee to be finished so she could check on them both separately. She sighed and closed her eyes, but kept her ears perked for anything new or important. The longer they stayed down here, the higher the chance they have of being caught again by Team Rocket. She flicked her ears as anxiety slowly crept up into her throat, but she forced it back down and continued patiently waiting. They had come so close! There was no way she was chickening out now.

Floria glanced over at the shiny Zeraora talking to Linii. He looked very powerful, but he also looked kind of lonely. She sighed. There were many Pokémon here that looked more powerful than others, but oftentimes the ones who are the strongest are the ones who have been hurt the most. She noticed the Flareon that she had freed earlier starting to get agitated. By what exactly, she wasn’t sure, but uneasiness started rising in her throat, and she suddenly understood why Linii had become so on-edge. There was something off about this Pokémon, and she suspected it had something to do with his oddly-colored eye.

Ribbon’s train of thought was interrupted by a splitting headache. He grunted and flinched, putting his forepaw against his head. Squeezing his eyes shut, the headache continued, slowly becoming more and more painful. Something was wrong, and it sent a wave of panic through his body. He shook his head but that did little against it. He growled at himself, getting a few strange looks from other Pokémon nearby. He laid down and closed his eyes, trying his best to focus his energy. It couldn’t happen now! What had happened to trigger it?? He growled again, but the growl surprised him. He didn’t tell himself to do that. He could tell he was slowly losing his grasp on it. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, focusing on bringing himself out of it. He hadn’t completely fallen in yet, so maybe he could pull himself out. After a few short seconds he opened his eyes and the headache subsided. He let out a breath of relief and stood up, his ears twitching.

Bumblekit’s eyes widened and sparkled with excitement as the warrior welcomed her closer. She looked quickly up at Oliveeye before bounding forwards, nearly running into him. She skidded to a halt and gazed at the warrior, her eyes lit up with joy, questions immediately starting to flood into her mind, swirling around like a storm of thoughts. She couldn’t pick one to ask first, so she said, “Hi!” in the most energetic, purely curiosity-driven voice ever. She didn’t realize nor did she care how childish she may be being, this warrior was talking to them! She flicked her tail and sneezed, bits of dust settling on her nose.

Ribbon sensed the shiny Luxray looking at him, and he fought the urge to return her gaze. If he made eye contact that would be seen as a challenge, and Ribbon would prefer to have as little conflict as possible, so he averted his gaze. As soon as she looked away, however, he looked back at her. He could tell she didn’t trust him, and honestly, he couldn’t blame her. He didn’t even trust himself. He stood up, sensing that they were getting ready to make the big escape. Ribbon just hoped that even though some Pokémon may not trust him, they’ll still allow him to help. He stretched, flicking out his fluffy tail and arching his back high. With a quick shake of his head, he perked his ears and awaited further instructions. He just prayed they didn’t run into Team Rocket while they were escaping. The chip that’s on his ear doesn’t just serve as an off button...

Floria could tell that Linii was on edge, but at least she was rallying everyone. Unfortunately, the Espeon seemed to have passed out from exhaustion, but Floria couldn’t be sure. She was determined not to leave her behind though, and would carry her on her back if she had to, despite the Espeon being fairly larger than her. She kept her ears perked, catching on to Linii’s confidence and enthusiasm, and she could tell the others were picking it up as well. She smiled to herself and followed Linii’s directions, being careful not to make too much noise. They didn’t want to alert Team Rocket of their plans, or else this all would have been for nothing.

Floria nodded. “It is me.” She said. She stayed by the Espeon in case anything happened as she watched Linii speaking to all of the Pokémon, rallying them, giving them light and hope. She was proud, and she felt as if the giant, gaping hole in her chest was finally starting to close. She smiled. A genuine, happy smile. They hadn’t even escaped yet and Floria was filled with hope. She must admit, the large group of Pokémon all milling around and talking and bumping into and around her was starting to fill her with anxiety, but she did her best to push it down. They were finally escaping! It was finally time...

Ribbon listened as the Luxray talked to them. He couldn’t muster up much energy to care, especially since Team Rocket must already be onto what they’re doing, but he was still willing to try. He tried to pay as much attention to whoever was speaking as possible, but he felt his mind wandering. What was he gonna do when he got out? He couldn’t go back to his family, that ship sailed a long time ago. He didn’t want to go back to living alone. Maybe... maybe he could make friends here. He shook his head, snapping himself out of his mind. He told himself that was ridiculous. Don’t give yourself false hope! he scolded himself. They’re only going to betray you again.
With a sigh, he closed his eyes, but he kept his ears perked in order to hear further conversation. Maybe this thing really was going to work...

Floria noticed the Flareon’s eye was slightly discolored, but she didn’t say anything. She could tell he was confused about her fire-type usage, but again she chose to say nothing. Instead, she turned and scanned the Pokémon all standing around, until her gaze fell upon the weakened Espeon that had helped them escape. Concern enveloping her mind, she ran over to check if she was still ok. “Hello? Are you alright?” She asked worriedly, crouching by the Espeon and checking her breathing. She didn’t seem to be dead, which was good, but she still needed to wait for a response and hope she didn’t fall unconscious.

Ribbon watched as the deerling bounded away into the midst of the Pokémon. He twitched his ears, picking up on multiple different groups of Pokémon muttering in hushed tones. His large ears were well attuned for picking up smaller or fainter sounds, unfortunately that meant that louder sounds hurt his ears much more than normal. He lifted up a paw and scratched his ear, the little chip that Team Rocket had attached in order to keep the Virus at bay bothering him. He growled softly and sat down, awaiting the next step in this glorious plan. They’ve all gotten out of the cages, sure. Now what?

Floria was in utter shock and awe. A mega-evolved Espeon?! How was such a thing even possible! She shook herself. There was no time to dwell on the matter, she looked like she needed help! She saw a light shine from Linii’s cage and realized that her friend had gotten out as well. She finally decided to stop sitting around doing nothing, and with a grunt, she stood up and prepared her attack. Her grey flower flickering with red, fiery sparks, she inhaled and shot a blast of heat at her cage door, melting the locking mechanism and opening it. She gave a cheerful snort and pushed the door open fully, walking out, the heat from the recently-blasted metal not bothering her. She figured anyone who had seen that might be a tad bit confused- ”how could a deerling use a fire-type move?” -but she didn’t bother dwelling on it. With a huff, she glanced around, seeing Linii up-close for the first time. She smiled at the Luxray, then looked around again. It looked as though everyone’s cage had been opened. Then she saw one that was a little ways away from the shiny Eevee’s cage, still locked and closed, with barely any space in-between the bars so she couldn’t tell what Pokémon was inside. She looked back at Linii. “You go help the Eevee- or, Espeon, please, I’ll get the last one.”
Without bothering to wait for a reply, she dashed through the cages and reached the locked one.

Ribbon watched as all the Pokémon were freed. Just his luck that his was one of the only ones that didn’t open. He gave a low rumble in his chest, but didn’t complain. Not like it was that important anyways. He heard the other Pokémon breaking out themselves, and he sighed. Resting his head on his paws, he closed his eyes.
He was startled awake by a gentle but firm voice outside his cage.
“Hello?”
Immediately on guard, Ribbon growled in response. He got no answer, but whoever had asked seemed to be satisfied. Just then, there was a blast of heat, (not bothering Ribbon as he’s a fire-type), and the door slid open. Standing outside of it was a strange-looking autumn deerling with a greyed flower. How... did this deerling make that heat blast? I thought Deerling were only normal/grass? Ribbon wondered. But he pushed those questions away for a different time. Standing up, he shook out his fur and stepped out of the cage he had been rotting away in for so long. The rest of the Pokémon had already come out of their cages and were all waiting around anxiously for their next instruction.

Floria immediately perked her ears to listen to the Eevee, of which she still did not know the name of. She listened carefully, and nodded earnestly, determined to do whatever it took to get out of here. Then, she watched in awe as the shiny Eevee evolved. She was shook. How could a Pokémon do that?! Just... evolve! Right then and there! And in these conditions? She decided not to question it, but it did give her slight hope. Maybe they really were getting out of here!

Ribbon was awoken by the sound of a voice. Twitching his ears, he moved his head up and looked out, seeing a shiny Eevee speaking up. He didn’t feel enthusiastic about escaping, especially since he had lost all hope a long while ago, but he was willing to try. He stood up and stretched, flicking his tail behind him. Just then, the shiny Eevee glowed with light for a split-second and evolved into a Sylveon. Ribbon was shocked and confused, but he didn’t say anything. This place was messed up, so he shouldn’t really be surprised, but still...
He shook his head. This might be their only chance of escaping. He’s got to give it a shot.

After a fretful sleep, Floria woke up to the sound of... nothing, actually. It was surprisingly quiet. Leftover strands from her nightmare still hung in the air around her, and she tried not to think about them, but they were very persistent. Floria twitched her ears. There was little to no sound in the air, but Linii had shone new light into the cages, and Floria was silently grateful. Her fear of the dark had surfaced as she was being experimented on, constantly being left alone in a pitch-black enclosed space, with no way out, never being able to relax or get any sleep, worrying about when the next human would come and take her to be tested on again. She shuddered, taking her thoughts away from those. She was glad to see that Linii seemed to be doing better. A deep hole was still very much present in Floria's chest, but at least it was slowly closing. It didn't matter that it wasn't closing fast- it mattered that it was closing, and that was what Floria focused on. Now that she had woken up, Floria figured she wouldn't be able to go back to sleep, so she shifted in her cage, still being careful of her leg, and re-positioned herself, watching the steady stream of water drip onto her floor, slowly dousing her hoofs in damp liquid.

Ribbon flicked his ears as light inconsistently shown throughout the cages. Most of the crying had settled down now, which he was glad for, but he could tell most of them were still awake. He gave a quiet sigh. None of this was supposed to happen, but it did and he couldn't do anything about it. He could only sit here and mope. The others were communicating with each other, scheming to get out, and he had almost scoffed. There was no use. They would be torn apart from their friends eventually, they would be caught, they would be tortured again. He curled up, wrapping his fluffy tail around himself, and closed his eyes. Part of him said that if he willingly went Insane, he would have the power to break free, but he would never be able to get himself back in control and would likely kill the rest of the Pokemon in the process, so he vetoed that idea immediately. It still popped back into his mind though, quietly pestering about the things he could do. The things he could have done...
