Then, they found the monsters.

They were terrifying, really. Bipedal. They had thick, yellowish black scales, forming some sort of armor around their body. They had two pairs of arms, yet thankfully only wielded a single spear each. Their faces looked like a distorted bull, and they had twisted, gnarly horns that branched like a tree, yet were as sharp as a knife. Their feet were cloven. As the party drew near, the temperature grew hotter, and hotter. They seemed to be investigating… something. But it was indiscernible from this distance.

“Oh… wow…” Yawen couldnt think of anything else to say.

	“I don’t know animals too well, but those are really… odd?” Yawen bent down to look at them closer “Well, I don’t think they can be from anyone in the city, probably those monsters..?” The drone would be able to measure that when it got closer to where the encampment of monsters supposedly were, it got much hotter. The wilderness was probably once beautiful. But now, it was a withered mess. It seemed all vegetation was yellowing. Birds could be seen pecking at trees for seeds, but finding little in return. On the ground, large footprints could be seen. They didn’t match any known animal, and were far too… strange to be anyone from the city’s. It was clear that these were the monster footprints.

Waiting for them at the barn was a young woman wearing long dress pants and a light blouse. Her hair was neatly kept in a tight bun. When she saw the last person arrive, she spoke quickly, jotting something down on her clipboard.

“I am Lady Iwu’s assistant, Anhu. I’ll be the one overseeing you mostly. I actually used to do this myself but I was underprepared, and it didn’t end well for my team..” Anhu laughed nervously, before continuing “But you all look more than prepared. A group of monsters have recently become very active just south of here, and we think there might be something crucial to be found. Your job is to take care of that, and report any findings”

	He took the vial, drinking it. It didn’t taste good. Like, at all. But more power was more power. “What will it do?” Perhaps it wasn’t a good habit to just. Drink things that are given to him.
