Roused by the smell of the omelet, Akane finally stumbled down the stairs half awake. She hadn't made much effort to fix her appearance. She was wearing a baggy t-shirt and sweatpants. "Morning. . ." Akane yawned.

Jeremy smiled slightly as Akane sat down in a chair, he pushed the other half of the omelet in front of the female. "You look like you were wrestling a bear in your sleep."

Akane just smiled a little and mumbled a tired "thank you" to the maker of the omelet. and something along the lines of "the cake's a lie too" toward's Tayla's direction.

Jeremy looked in the direction of the crash and the panicked tribute. Very slowly he set his mug of coffee down. "Protect who from what?"

Aside from the omelet Faith had made, the options were practically endless. Pancakes, cereal, Orange juice, and other things that Tayla recognized and some she didn't.

Not always a morning person, Jeremy fixed himself a cup of straight black coffee as he cut the breakfast egg in half, some for him and the other half for Akane when she woke up. Charlie bounced in her seat and dug into her omelet, the fluffy egg bursting into lots of flavor on the mute child's tongue. She appeared to love it.

Charlie's hand shot up in the air as she bounced in her seat, eggs were hard to come by for her. Jeremy and Moona looked at each other for a moment but both nodded, it smelled wonderful.

After a long afternoon of healing people, Leaf and Blossom were able to heal up most of the injured and even though the people wanted to show some gratitude for their help, but Leaf and Blossom turned the offers down (not that it stopped them anyway).

But for now, Leaf, Star, and BLossom were curled around each other as the new day turned to afternoon.

Jeremy jumped back in surprise when Faith suddenly started the corner of the table on fire. Moona just stared at it before using some of her own magic to keep the fire in one place in case Faith decided to use the fire for her omelet in the making.

Akane after a few moments nodded in understanding. "Well, alright, if you're sure. We'll leave it open for you just in case." Jeremy had slipped into the bathroom to clean his teeth as Akane finally snuggled down under the covers. When Jeremy came out he gave the child a polite nod before crawling into the same bed as Akane and holding her close, his frame guarding hers against the night it seemed.

*Time skip to morning.*

Akane was still sleeping, but Jeremy was already up, him being an early riser compared to Akane. Giving the sleeping female a peck on her cheek before heading downstairs to get something to eat. Much to his surprise, Charlie and Moona were already down there as well, both children eating oatmeal and swinging their legs under the table as they did so.

Akane looked down at Ibaraki. "Are you sure you'll be okay sleeping down there? There is a spare bed if you want it." Her voice though concerned was still kind to the child.

(Last post from me then I need to head to bed, I'm up too late as it is and I need to work at 6:30-)

There was a huff before he pulled out a tablet-like device and tapped on it a few times. "Ibaraki?" When the child nodded the Peacekeeper somewhat annoyed escorted the child to the same room he'd been shown to before. Putting the back of his glove the door opened. Jeremy and Akane looked up but didn't move from their spot, clearly taken aback by the sudden interruption.

"This is your room. You've been paired up with tribute Akane and tribute Jeremy. If you get lost, find one of them, I'm sure they'll be kind enough to help you find your way." Giving the child a pat on the shoulder he left the three alone.

Akane watched Ibarki shuffle on his way then shut the door deciding to leave him be. With that taken care of her mind wandered to back home. What were Rue and Leaf doing? Were they crying over them or were they trying to be strong for their sake? Akane sighed as she sat on the bed, pulling her knees to her chest.

Jeremy came out a short while later wrapped up in a green robe. "Was he lost?"

"He insisted no with a shake of his head, but honestly I didn't pry too much into it," Akane admitted as Jeremy sat next to her.

One of the few peacekeepers saw Ibaraki wandering around and fixed him with a glare. "Why aren't you in your room?" His voice wasn't kind and he wasn't even trying to be, his hand hovered over a baton in case he needed to use it, though he doubted it.

Jeremy sat up at the sudden apology as if it had upset him, even though he wasn't, if anything it had taken him by surprise.

Akane had gotten out of the shower and was dressed in a modest faded blue nightgown. "Jere? What was that?"

"One of the kids here might've mistaken our room for his," Jeremy explained.

Akane nodded. "Shower's open if you want it." Jeremy nodded and headed that way. Once he had gone she walked to the door and opened it, where Ibaraki was still trying to find someone to help him. Akane squatted so that she was his height, "hey kiddo, are you lost?" Akane's tone was calm and friendly, she offered a small kind smile, but she stayed in her spot not wanting to intimidate him in any way.

Moona looked up at Faith in confusion. "But. . .this room is mine, Charlie, and Tayla's?" Her voice had dipped up in confusion, a quick glance at the small name holder next to the door revealed that Moona was right. This wasn't Faith's. "Maybe yours is nearby."

From behind, Charlie sat up on her bed and looked over at the two in conversation with confusion.

As the chariots finally made their way back the tributes were ushered up to their combined rooms for where they'd be staying up into the arena. Charlie and Moona found themselves roomed up with Tayla. Charlie almost right away ran towards her bed and jumped onto it, almost sinking into the pillows and comforter upon impact.

Akane and Jeremy were roomed with each other and Ibaraki. Akane and Jeremy were the first ones to arrive and Akane went to shower off the makeup. Jeremy sat on his bed and laid back on it, sighing as he waited for Akane to finished.

(have fun guys! Everyone room with another person, either NPC or not!)

As the parade got started, the tributes were ushered into their chariots and got ready. Finally once the anthem started they rolled out and headed towards the President's mansion. Akane and Jeremy were together, much to their relief. Charlie and Moona were paired together.

They circled the mansion twice before finally stopping in front where President Snow himself was on the balcony, his amber eyes held their gaze upon the tributes, though they held onto Moona with intent of some sort for a few moments.

The word "chat" made Charlie inwardly flinch. Conversation. This was a huge weak point to her, everyone around her seemed to take that for granted. Still, she headed over to the angel and the other girl with tentative steps dreading how she was going to even talk to them when she had no voice.

Moona, as she introduced herself to Faith, noticed Charlie's sudden appearance. "Hello, how are you doing today?"

Charlie in response just gave a small smile.

The angel girl looked up at Faith and nodded, "I was. It's all really strange, they said if you win you don't have to participate again." She looked down at her shoes for a few moments then back up to Faith. "I dont think I got your name."

Thankfully there was a little time to mingle before they were forced on the carts. Charlie had stuck by Tayla when she had first reemerged, but her attention was quickly taken away by the new tribute girl who hadn't been on the train. She tugged lightly on Tayla's hand, the child's gaze was still on this young wisp of a tribute.

The young angel girl was quietly standing by herself, both of her hands were clasped together in front of her waist as she looked around like a lost lamb. Sure, she knew was coming next, but that didn't make it any easier as she knew none of her new fellow tributes, at least last year she got to know one of them.

As the train pulled up to the Capital, the tributes were ushered quickly away from the prying eyes of the large crowd and onto a smaller train to be escorted to their stylists who would fix them up for the tribute parade.

Charlie was wearing a blue gossamer gown with a flower crown gently placed on top of her head. Much to the child's dismay, her fanny pack had been taken from her and put in her room. If she were to be attacked now, Charlie was all sorts of screwed as her powers were essentially gone.

Akane was wearing a champagne-colored dress that stopped at her knees, next to her Jeremy was wearing a dark green tux (which he loathed) the only thing that tied Jeremy and Akane together was that the cloth that made up Akane's dress was the same as Jeremy's tie.

From the crowd of tributes, one young tribute stood out amongst the others. Her brown hair was down and free-flowing slightly, a white dress was adorned with a pink bow and a pair of matching white flats. Two small angel wings stuck out from behind her, slightly bent as if preparing for flight. It was impossible to not recognise her as the "victor" of last year's games, the one who had supposedly died in the arena.

Charlie nodded and with a smile of thanks carefully took the fanny pack from Talya and readjusted it around her waist again. When she had finished she looked up at Tayla with hopeful eyes.

(sorry for the late post, I got distracted. X_X)

Charlie had been pushed into the same room as Tayla, the small child's fanny pack slid off of her and bumped against Tayla's feet. Charlie pushed herself on her feet rubbed her elbow, it was tingling and numb from hitting it on the floor, her eyes scanned the floor trying to find her fanny pack not noticing it by Tayla's feet.

Akane and Jeremy were trying their best to relax, Jeremy was gently stroking her short hair as she laid into his chest. Jeremy had tried to console Akane by ensuring they could write letters back to Leaf and Rue, but Akane wasn't as good on paper and the things she wanted to say went with a caress and hugs.

With the final tributes finally rounded, Akane and Jeremy looked at each other. Okay, sure this sucked a lot, but at least they got to say their goodbyes before going in this deathmatch. Akane didn't have much of a family and she knew Jeremy did, but they were mostly looking forward to saying their goodbyes to Rue and Leaf, the latter needing it the most. At least by giving them a final goodbye it would ease their minds just a bit.

Oh, how wrong she was.

All the tributes were ushered not to the back where they got to say their goodbyes to their loved ones but rather had a strange wristband slapped on their wrists (the ones that prevent fights) and ushered straight to the train. When they arrived many of the tributes were raising a reasonable fuss once they realized they weren't going to say goodbye. In response, the head Peacekeeper mearly grinned like a cat that had eaten a canary and only responded with one sentence in an overly chirpy voice, as though he was enjoying their dispair. "New procedure."

Akane jerked her head back to where she had come as panic rose in her chest, just barely she could hear Leaf and Rue screaming at the peacekeepers holding them back about how unfair it was. Akane was only able to shout a goodbye before she and the other tributes were forcefully shoved on the train, which quickly sped off towards the Capital. And on Akane's lips were her last words she wanted to say, but would never get to.

"Why are they doing this, they can't!" Akane's words burst out of her in frustration and heartache, she pounded the train window once with her fist in anger. "We've always been promised to say our final goodbyes!"

"You know why," Jeremy stated softly gently helping her up. "Because last year, they never got a victor."

Last year, they never got a victor.

Akane looked down at the floor, her numb mind slowly started to function again. Of course, last year was the Games that everything got thrown out of whack all because of the final two tributes. The first was an eighteen-year-old boy who was built like a killing machine with a matching rap sheet to match, the other was a young twelve-year-old girl with the innocence and kindness that could solve all the world's messed-up issues. The arena was a barren wasteland. . .

It was just the two of them, him chasing her until she was utterly exhausted. When she tripped he was on her, ready to end it all, but she had a plan. At the last moment, she trembling like a leaf in a twister, held her small dagger in self-defense. He didn't see it until it was embedded in his chest and he landed on the ground struggling to breathe like a beached fish. Once she had realized her actions she rushed over to help. Her actions were rewarded by him slashing her throat with the last ounce of strength he had before succumbing to his fatal wound. Once they realized what had happened, the game makers scrambled to get her out before she passed away from blood loss, hastily declaring her the winner, their normally polished efforts were thrown into the wind as they struggled to keep her alive.

If she died, the word screwed was an understatement of what would happen to them.

When a good week had passed before they were finally able to see that Ceasar for once in his many years, did not have a victor on stage, rather grim news that the would've been victor had died despite the Captial's best efforts to save her. The fate of the Gamemakers had been determined, and the crowd would be their witness, as a reminder that the President wouldn't tolerate any tomfoolery. That week of normal "celebration" was one of terror as the bodies of the game makers were put up in full display for all to see. . .

But that even wasn't the worst of it. While the boy's body had been returned, the girl's body never made it back despite endless pleading and begging from the widow.

Akane looked at Jeremy. "Why would they punish us for that? That wasn't even our fault." Jeremy just shook his head, he may've been one of the best in their science class, but this was even confusing to him.
