Stealing from a thief? Isn't that hypocrisy? In all seriousness, I think this is a good idea just maybe something with a bit of dialogue from the thief instead where they say, "Oh shoot! Uhh hey bud, look...I've got a neat shiny item from the Game Center...I hear it's very valuable and expensive these days...buut I'll only let you have it if you promise to let me off the hook this time around 'kay? Deal?" And then something like: They quickly throw the item at you and vanish in the blink of an eye.

"You'll probably need them more than me...but I'll take the ones you dropped..." He carefully picked up the peanuts from the ground and cleaned them of sand with some water and his sleeve. He ate them and started walking. "And I agree but we need to find resources first...it's hard to build a shelter in the desert and we don't really have anything...maybe we should just try to walk and find help?"

Surprised that Zoe didn't simply just hand the bag to him, Atticus caught it but didn't take any peanuts. He nodded for Zoe's first few sentences, trying to understand her better. The moment Zoe cried out for something, Atticus exclaimed, "W-what is 'it'? What're you looking for??" Her personality set Atticus on edge but he knew he just had to deal with it until they could get back home. Home...he missed home...thinking about that would have to wait though... He blinked and looked at Zoe in confusion.

Hesitant about Zoe's attitude, Atticus decided it'd be best to follow her, surprised and excited when they found water. He carried a bag and only now rifled through it, hoping to find something, anything of value for his- no, their survival. He pulled out a slightly cracked water bottle and laughed. This was great! They could carry water with them! He first scooped up water next to Zoe and drank. It felt like cool, crisp heaven against his throat and he drank more and more. Afterward, Atticus scooped up as much of the precious liquid as he could in the bottle and stored it away. "Zoe...we can do this! I noticed you had peanuts before...do you still have them with you? You should eat those and get your energy back. And then we could continue walking...I know you hate me but sticking together will help us survive..."

Atticus hesitated, unsure of how to help her. They were in a very dry desert and there didn't seem to be any water around as far as Atticus could tell. He thought for a moment before he offered, "I'm not in good condition either but I can try carrying you...either way we need to get moving now that we don't have to worry about heat. We need to find water and other resources as soon as possible...and hopefully find others...maybe..." He held out a hand.
