As the interviews came to a close, Narukami let her shoulders sag energy slipping out of her all at once and it felt like she was unraveling at the seams, the sheer humiliation of passing out in public the only thing keeping her together. It was rare of her to drop like this but she figured it was warranted after such a fraught day. Tomorrow would be even more stressful, and Narukami didn't know what to feel for the last night she would be alive. While she wasn't the type to be pessimistic, she still liked to look at life in a realistic light and that realism of hers told her that it was most likely that she would die in the bloodbath tomorrow even with a partner. She was strong, yes, but from the interview today she could tell that the rest of the tributes had powers that they could use to their advantage that would override her physical prowess. Her weather control was rusty and unrefined at best and she evidently hadn't gotten any sponsors from her performance today. It would be difficult to survive with these conditions in place.

He nodded, lacing his fingers with Ariel. "As long as you want to." He agreed easily.

Sou felt his throat dry at the swirling void of Favonius' eyes, their unique nature catching the boy off guard. It was mesmerizing, seeing something so unnaturally beautiful that it nearly thralled him into blurting out his thoughts. Before he could do something that embarrassing, however, the general's voice snapped the servant boy out of it and Sou scurried after him, his childish stride struggling to keep up with the other, nearly tripping over himself in his haste to keep up with Favonius so much so that he nearly ran into the snake-turned-man's back when the general suddenly stopped. Standing up straight as he was addressed, hands gripping the edge of his slightly oversized shirt, Sou nodded eagerly. "What would you like to see? I know the best times to go out and buy cheap without large crowds, the cheapest stalls, the tastiest food, which streets to take to avoid patrols, which shopkeepers will lower the number if you ask nicely, which roofs are okay to run on, things like that. I don't know everything though so we can learn together!"

The queen's final words sent a shiver down Sou's spine, the first sign of an emotion other than blinding optimism. But still he heeded the Queen's silent dismissal and quickly scurried away unable to hide the wide grin that stretched across his face. The Queen had asked him to do something! That small fact kept a smile on his face as his childish feet ran as fast as it could to meet up with the new general. Skidding to a stop a few paces away from Favonius, arms windmilling in a desperate bid to keep his balance, Sou grinned at the imposing man. "Hello there! Her Majesty told me to accompany you to the city." He declared, tongue tripping over the slightly complicated words. "Is it okay if I call you General Favonius? Or would Sir be better? Gotta make sure you feel welcome after all!" Rocking back and forth on his heels, Sou could still remember how pretty Favonius had been in his serpentine form with pretty shiny scales and sleek streamlined strength.

Friend. She still wanted to be friends with her. The idea of that made Narukami tear up slightly before it was quickly blinked away to make way for a beaming smile. When was the last time someone had been friends with her and hadn't been repulsed when the seemingly delicate princess turned out to be a knight who had a mean punch honed through years of school yard fights. Regardless, she did shake her head gently patting T'val's hands making sure to not touch any of her afterimages. "Even if not allies, never enemies." She assured, talking slowly becoming easier as her mind and body slowly easing out of the stressful situation through the occasional looks still had pinpricks running down her back

"I agree... But the alternative is that they hold her child over her and make Faith do whatever the Capital wants." He sighed, feeling much too old for this.

Scratching her cheek, Narukami laughed embarrassed. "I got angry." She admitted, hesitating before elaborating a bit. "Hated how they laughed... He spent so much time learning- teaching- showing us to speak with him." Her shrug was a bit helpless but her smile was softer, less strained. She hesitated for a moment before asking a bit softer. "Your interview- said- had alliance. With me. You... still want to be allies?"

Happily returning the kiss, Sorrento had to draw back when his name was called by Caeser. "I'm really happy for you." He managed to whisper before he straightened out his outfit and walked out onto the stage, steeling himself for the interview to come.

"Sorrento, what a pleasure. If I remember correctly, your score on the evaluation was quite high! A 10. Mind sharing with the audience your tricks?" Caeser asked, and if Sorrento looked hard enough, he could see that the other was shaking slightly, no doubt exhausted and apprehensive after the barrage of criticism from the other tributes.

Deciding to play nice for now, Sorrento inclined his head with a sweet smile. "Why of course. I'm a fishermen so I know all types of knots, ones that are impossible to unite without cutting it, ones that will only tighten the harder one struggles, ones to break bones. Combined with my powers of echolocation, I can quickly chase anyone down and finish them off with anything that can be tied. Vines, seaweed, tree bark, whatever can be found I will use. I believe its this unique set of skills that the game makers saw in me and graciously gave me a high mark." The words tasted like ash on his tongue but he forced them out anyways, knowing that the sucking up to the president would pay off later on. If it was to protect Ariel and her newfound happiness he would do anything, even become hated among the tributes.

There was cheering from the crowds as Caesar let out an amused bark of laughter and Sorrento could see the moment the emcee relaxed as he perceived him as less of a threat than the other tributes. "Well I do hope that you don't disappoint within the arena." Caesar winked patting Sorrento's knee in a sickening attempt at comradary. "Now as we all know, you volunteered in place of someone. A very special someone. Could you tell us a bit about him?"

"I hope you know what you're getting yourself into, Caesar. I could go on and on about him for years." Sorrento joked, sending a ripple of awwww across the stadium. "That was my husband. We've known each other since childhood and as cheesy as it sounds we are made for each other. He... he's the sun, the moon, and the stars. He's the Poseidon to my Nerites. I would die for him and I would live for him. The only other people that comes close to comparing to him would be my wife and children but they are their own people and have their own aspects that I adore." If he wasn't already married to Julian, it would have been disgusting how fondly he spoke of him. It was clear to anyone that Sorrento loved his husband deeply, a soft look passing over his face as he spoke full of love and adoration.

"A wife?" Caesar asked, leaning forward a bit. "Is it hard then to trust your spouses then? After all, what is to say that they won't find another?"

There was a moment of heavy silence before Sorrento sighed. "Caesar you really must learn how to be more tactful." He sighed, lacing his hands together. "Relationships are odd. You have to work to make sure that you both are happy and the relationship is mutually beneficial. This goes double when you have more than one partner. I trust that both of them will talk to me about things, and I trust that the three of us will sit down and talk it over like the adults we are. My partner's happiness is important to me and I know that we all love each other no matter what. After all, they always had so much love to give, it was impossible to just contain it to one person."

The buzzer sounded and in the end the atmosphere was both tense but soft at the same time, the crowd undeniably invested in Sorrento yet still reeling from the more unconventional relationship he had.

The first emotion to flicker across the young boy's face was confusion. Why him? Sure he was friendly, maybe too much, and he knew the people in the city but he was just a servant. No one of importance. But someone wanted his aid and that was really all Sou cared about so he beamed and nodded eagerly. "Of course, Your Majesty. Anything you say I'll do." He chirped sounding way too carefree for the situation though he respectfully kept his head down. He was much like the sun, the cold crawling over him but never reaching past the surface level melting as soon as it tried to shake him to his core.

She was a little haggard, wrist stinging from when she had punched the wall out of frustration. The gloves she had been given were purely decoration and provided no support at the wrist, leading it to actually hurt. Hearing someone clap, she raised her head and did her best to smile when she saw that it was T'val. sorry she signed, thumb and forefinger curled together in a circle and touched against her forehead before the hand was brought down in a bow-like motion with her entire hand flat. Gently touching her nose with her pointer, she then brought both pointer fingers together, hesitatingly pointing to T'val before pointing to her again with one finger this time. Finally she made a sign as if pulling something away from her chin in revulsion. There was an awkward silence before Narukami sighed as if she just remembered that not everyone knew sign. "Sorry." She finally articulated, voice audibly tired and a bit defeated. "Talking's.... hard. I didn't scare you too much?"

He quirked an eyebrow, smirk on his lips as he observed the two girls and their interactions. Star was bold, he'd give her that. It was somewhat sweet, reminding him a lot of his own childhood friendship turned romance with Julian and he only felt happiness swell up within him at the adorable expression on his wife's face. This was the right decision. "Of course. Ariel's happiness means almost everything to me and trust me when I say that our husband is more than willing to give you a chance." He assured before smiling warmly to placate the other's worries. "Ariel has told us a lot about you."

Taking the half cape back, Narukami clipped the white fabric back onto her shoulders. She gave T'val a encouraging smile as she was called up, letting her own thoughts wander for a moment in an attempt to steel herself for what was to come. Undoubtedly the questions would be invasive at worst. It seemed like in the span of a second, T'val was done and Narukami was hurrying over to ask her if she was okay before another voice interrupted them, strained but still maintaining an air of festivity.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Narukami Arashi!"

Letting out a breath at her name, Narukami steeled herself allowing herself to quirk a nervous smile to T'val before walking onstage just as she had been taught so many years ago when she had first began training as a model. Chin up, shoulders square, back straight, strides confident. Take up as much space as you can on the stage. Draw attention to your clothes, sell them. Her mentors words rang in her head as she flashed the crowd a warm smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, earning her a wave of cheers and squealing while Caesar clapped and laughed with delight. The handshake that she gave Caesar was firm as well, eliciting another round of laughter from the emcee. Taking a seat when she was gestured to do so, Narukami perched herself elegantly, a flower blooming beautifully.

"So Narukami, a knight. Tell me, are you disappointed by this decision? I think all of us were expecting you to come out looking like a princess." Caesar started off, smile so artificially bright that Narukami had to fight to not recoil away.

Instead, she forced out a light-hearted laugh, hands coming up to sign as she spoke. "Of course I'm not disappointed. I'm strong and capable enough to be my own knight. If anything, I am a Queen, not a princess." The Queen of Knights her heart reminded her, the voice sounding an awful lot like her mates and her heart clenched at the cheesy nickname that they had given her, remnants of twinkling laughter still ringing like bells in her ears.

Caesar hummed in understanding, eyes flicking to her hands. "Oh certainly. When has the name Narukami not gone hand in hand with strength? Your work has been quite exemplary may I say." He replied cheerfully, smile dimming slightly when he saw that Narukami was continuing to sign, translating his words into the language of the unhearing. "But I see that you are also quite nervous! Pre arena jitters? Or perhaps you're playing a game with us and trying to guess what you're miming! I'll go first, let’s see.... Oh, someone dying by electrocution!" Caesar’s words made the audience laugh and Narukami's hands stilled for a moment, the only outward reaction she gave to the boiling hatred exploding within her, her body itching to be thrown out of the chair and have a soft neck under her fingers, pulse fluttering wildly.

"How ignorant you must all be to laugh so freely as if there was nothing wrong with the world." Narukami finally spoke, ice coating the normally warm woman's voice, hands moving again with vigor and . "How lucky you must be. To laugh, to have warm food, to have new clothes, to be alive. How lucky am I to know how to speak with my hands. To speak. To see. To hear. And how lucky of you to be unaware of how lucky you are, to turn a blind eye to those who do not have what you have. And how lucky am I to bridge those who can hear and those who cannot with these hands of mine. You may treat it as a game, just like you treat everything else, but we are nothing if not lucky to still be able to communicate."

A wash of silence met her words, and uncomfortable smile plastered on Caesar’s face. The buzz demanding for violence was still crawling under her skin so Narukami made eye contact with one of the cameras and continued to sign. Tapping her right hip and then her heart with her fingers in the shape of a V before making a J with her thumb ad pointer over her heart, Narukami held up her hand beside her head, opening a clenched fist as if pushing something up and out before rubbing the back of her left hand. The pointed clearing of Caesar's throat interrupted her signing and Narukami gave him a very polite smile, gesturing for him to go on.

"Ah well, you mentioned before that you were a Queen and a little sparrow told me that you have quite a number of partners. Were you panning on ever marrying any of them? They must have been quite devastated at the loss of their Queen." Caesar seemed to go for an easier question and while Narukami could respect that, the wording rubbed her the wrong way. How audacious of the capital to impose their idea of a relationship onto her personal life.

"I will graciously assume that you're flustered from my previous answer and didn't quite think your question through, so I shall overlook exactly how rude part of that question was." She sighed, feeling a bone deep tierdness seep into her alongside the urge for homicide. All natural feelings for a teenage girl. "While I don't doubt that my mates do miss me, they are every bit as strong as I am and will pull through in this time of hardship. I do not intend to marry any of them, nor they me, but we are better for it and our lack of it does not make our relationship any less valid. I hope that one day, you all can see that love doesn't come in just one form." It was a solemn note to end on but Narukami stood up from her seat even before the buzzer rang, already halfway across the stage by the time the end of her interview was signaled.

Although her steps were graceful, light and airy as they carried her across the floor, she brushed past all of the other tributes with a dark look in her eyes, turning a corner and disappearing from sight. A beat passed, and then another before the walls trembled slightly, lights flickering ominously before everything seemed to realign itself and Narukami came back from around the corner, tight lipped and stretching out her wrist.

"Let me ask it this way. Why wouldn't I? You deserve to be happy and I don't mind being in an open relationship. Sure, we're married but the heart loves what the heart loves. I don't have the right to stop you." He assured. Once upon a time, if he had been younger he might have said differently, jealousy a green eyed monster who spared no body. But Sorrento had learned from his current relationship, opened up and talked with Julian about his own feelings, came to terms with his own tangled problems, became more honest with Ariel. It had been hard, all relationship were and he had to put in the work to make it as strong as it was now. But Sorrento was glad that he had grown, long since taming the ugly writhing feelings that barred its fangs at anyone who would dare steal away his treasure into something healthier.

"Of course You're Majesty." Sou pipped up without any hesitation, the familiarity of the title rolling off his tongue as if he had been practicing in secret for the day he would be called and he could address the king without botching it horribly. Or well, it was now the Queen he supposed as he hurried to comply with his new ruler's request. Although he kept his head down and mouth shut, it didn't seem like Sou was afraid. Quite the contrary if one was to look closer as what could have been passed of as nervous fidgeting was simply the actions of a child who was unused to standing under scrutiny for too long but was still quite eager to carry out any task that was asked of him. Perhaps it was because he didn't know better, still so young and clueless about the world. But for whatever reason, he still stood before his queen about as eager as a golden retriever waiting for his master's instructions.

Sorrento tipped his head, observing Star. He couldn't deny that she was aesthetically pretty, holding herself up like a lioness who knew she had all eyes on her. "Well," He started out, glancing down and he felt his heart drop at how apprehensive Ariel looked as if she was scared of his answer. He let out a small huff, fond smile spreading over his face as he squeezed Ariel's shoulder again. "You've always had so much love to give." He finally settled on, gently giving her a kiss. "It's never a bad thing to love people. But ultimately its your choice to decide if you want to pursue her or not. Whatever you choose, I'll support you with everything I have and I know Julian will too."

"I'm sure he'd agree with me when I say that you deserve to feel safe no matter the situation." Naru nodded as if she was the wisest person in the room, holding the answer to all of life's mysteries. "But what you wear and how you wear it is up to you. I'm just your friendly neighborhood model with some smattering of fashion knowlage." Sharp eyes flickered over to the mirage and her smile tightened slightly. Punishment? For what? And to whom? She was fine with whatever punishment the Capital decided to doll out to her, she was capable of taking a beating, but if it was directed to T'val then Narukami was worried. What could that message mean?

Chuckling, Sorrento wrapped an arm around Ariel, gently squeezing her shoulder. "Whenever you're ready to talk, I'll listen. Don't force yourself and take your time." He assured, half focusing on the interviews that were going on. "We'll still love you regardless."

"It's really only a half cape. Honestly, the designers should have gone for a full cape or off the shoulder one if they wanted a cape at all. It works much better with your outfit, tied around the waist and adding almost another layer to that pretty skirt of yours. You might want to take off the metal piece if you can though, it'll distort the silhouette." She huffed, a part of her already missing her usual design team. They were good people. "Besides, what kind of knight would I be if I didn't help out a beautiful lady?" She tacked on, a teasing wink tossed T'val's way. Narukami could see why the capital would give her revealing clothes, the other was quite pretty and charming in her own right. It was a shame that she disliked showing off but Narukami could respect that others liked to stay modest even if she herself tended to do otherwise.

Sou had always been exceptionally lucky. He was lucky to have been taken in as a member of the castle's staff, lucky to have survived this far, lucky to even be alive. He was lucky that he was even allowed to stand within the throne room, silently serving what remained of the royal court, keeping his head down as he observed the on goings. The snake was undeniably pretty and Sou found himself wanting to pet the reptile, though he kept such desires to himself. He always did have a fondness for animals. Carefully avoiding the gaze of his new queen and her general, he continued to silently do what he always did, as if this was another normal day and an usurpation of power hadn't happened.

"Dear, you look stunning in anything." Sorrento assured with a smile, fiddling with the cuffs of his own outfit slightly. It wasn't stuffy per say, in fact it was quite loose. He couldn't understand why his stylists thought that it would be a good idea to place him in a darker outfit fit for a vampire prince. It was just so outside his style that he felt a little bit awkward in it. "Really though, you outshine everyone else here. I'm halfway tempted to cover you up with my jacket."

It seemed that her stylists wanted to keep with the knightly theme. As she dipped her down, allowing the stylist to refresh her undercut and letting the makeup artist draw light brown streaks over her eyelids, her double eyelids making it hard for the eyeliner to show properly. The outfit was heavy as always, but at least she had a prop sword to hang by her side which was cool enough she supposed. As she joined the rest of the tributes, she had to hold in a snort at another tribute's outfit who looked like the anti-thesis of her own outfit, looking like a monster who Narukami was supposed to kill as the righteous knight. What a dumb angle to go for but she'd take any edge she'd get. Her eyes found out T'val and she walked over seeing the other's visible discomfort. While her outfit was gorgeous and quite the piece, she could see that T'val's exposed stomach was causing her pretty face to scrunch up in an unpleasant way. With a sigh, she walked over, unpinning the half cape around her shoulders and handing it over. "Would clipping this around your waist help?" She suggested. The half cape could complement the outfit T'val had, still light and weightless to fit the mystical aesthetic that the other rocked but provided her with the comfort that Narukami could see that she needed.

His laugh was slightly nervous, settling for a half truth as telling someone he had made a noose for his evaluation wouldn't fly over too well. "I tied some knots, the same ones I use while fishing, and knocked some cutlery off the table." He admitted, glossing over exactly what happened and generalizing it. "I didn't think it was that impressive."

He shrugged, gently bumping shoulders with Ariel as the TV flickered on. "I just wanted to make sure that you're alright." He replied honestly, turning his attention to the screen. The scores where all over the board, with some abysmal numbers and others reaching near the threshold. It certainly was... varied wasn't it? Ariel's name came up first and with the 9 floating beside her portrait, he squeezed her hand excitedly. That was amazing! But even more bewildering was the 10 that was attached to his name, a score that in no way he believed reflected his performance. He had just walked in there, showed that he could tie a knot to end himself whenever he liked and had a laugh over how cowardly the game makers were. Were the game makers really so masochistic that they scored him high for essentially flipping the bird at them?

An 8 hn? Well it wasn't like Narukami expected much. That session had essentially been one big stress reliever for her. The stinging aches had long since died down, washed away after a relaxing shower after her run, but the buzz under her skin screaming for her to acquaint her fist with someone's face was still present and annoying as ever. Curling and uncurling her hand in a well practiced motion, she looked up at the screen in time to see T'val's score, the large 10 making her smile. T'val did deserve that score, she agreed as she dried her dripping hair.

there was a moment of hesitation but Sorrento did eventually take a seat, smiling as he lay a hand over hers. "Is everything alright?" He asked, drawing small circles into the back of her hand. It couldn't be pleasant, going into the area a second time.

Nodding, Narukami also stood up planning on doing a quick jog around the compound to air out the lingering hot blood. "Rest well then, T'val. You did great today." She gave the other a beaming smile, hesitating for a split second before quickly patting T'val on the shoulder before drawing back. The grin was easy and she waved before setting out at an easy jog, hopping to outrun the itch crawling under her skin

In the space between one thought and the next, T'val had gotten up and sat back down, her evaluation over in a flash. "Wow, that was over quite fast. I'm sure you did great though." Narukami laughed, flashing her a thumbs up and grin. There was still an unsatisfied buzz lingering under her skin but ultimately she was a lot calmer than the past few days.

"Ariel?" He called out, keeping his distance out of respect for her privacy. He had seen that locket before but what it contained was a mystery to him. He knew that each of them had their own secrets and knowledge they kept close to their chest and he could respect that.
