Ah, the nickname, huh. It was amusing to Molly that the announcer hadn't used his legal name though he understood why. It really was a mouthful after all. Stepping past the tributes, he shot concerned looks at the most ragged looking ones, namely Faith and Ibaraki. Though the two seemed to be in good hands, with the former being surrounded by a few people and the other being comforted by someone else. So all would be well. Walking in, Molly squared his shoulders and the game makers nodded. "Impress us." Someone uttered and Molly grinned. Oh he would impress them all right. But not in the way that they expected.

By the time Molly walked out, he had a satisfied grin on his face though his throat was sore. Giving a half hour lecture on the various ways to both kill and heal someone through one plant alone was something he had never tried before but it was quite cathartic to simply speak to his hearts content. The game makers also tried to stop him multiple times but Molly just barreled along, giving them a nice long lecture. They even had time to fix all the lights during his lecture! Splendid.

Everything was like floating underwater, sounds coming half garbled and unintelligible. A quick shake of the head did little to clear the air but Ibaraki did realize that someone's foot steps matched up with the child's own shaky stumble. It felt like moving the world, the simple action of raising a heavy head and focusing tired eyes on whoever it was, a warning snarl building up despite the exhaustion. That was quickly forgone, however, when familiar straw blonde hair was registered. Tayla. And she was speaking too. Pointed ears twitched slightly, straining to catch what was being said. "-red those Game-" "-half to de-" "-ssed, good job." That was all that the child could really catch but a dopey smile spread over a tired face none the less. Ibaraki was praised for doing a good job! No one ever had said that after Ibaraki let the curse run wild! O-of course Ibaraki still had to be wary around Tayla, she hadn't proved herself but maybe Ibaraki could start being less suspicious.

Unconsciously, Ibaraki let out a tiny and soft giggle at the praise. "Y-you think so, ma'am? You helped me though. You turned off the lights, right? Thank you ma'am." Came the tired mumble, one hand coming up to rub against a tired shoulder. To Tayla this would only be another mark of bashfulness but moving around was starting to become painful, each step feeling like glass shards stuck in the soles of Ibaraki's feet. The child was also very visibly tired, heavy eyelids drooping and exhaustion slurring well meaning words slightly.

"Ibaraki Douji" the voice chimes, though there seems to be a bit of fear in it. Ibaraki blinked, hopping up as Tayla passed the child. "Good work, ma'am." Ibaraki said dutifully, one point added in the child's book for making the gamemakers sound frightened. Maybe teaming up with her wasn't that bad of an idea. Before that thought could get too out of hand though, Ibaraki slipped into the room.

It was dimly lit, only one light bulb replaced on such a short notice. Ibaraki didn't mind, the child felt more at home in the dark anyway. There were other things to mind, such as the game makers. They didn't even have to say anything, their indifference towards the small tribute as clear as day, not even bothering to ask Ibaraki to impress them as they had with everyone else. They just ordered servants to find more lights as quickly as possible so that they could watch the tributes better. "U-um, would it be okay if I started now, sir's?" Ibaraki asked, raising a hand. No mind was paid as servants exited the gamemaker's area in search of more bulbs to replace the broken ones, the only sign that someone heard was an offhand wave.

Taking that as sign enough, Ibaraki tottered over to the weights, finding the heaviest one and hefting it high up effortlessly. Ibaraki's arms weren't even trembling as the weight that very few tributes could even move cleared the child's head, showcasing the child's immense strength by walking around the arena all without seemingly breaking a sweat. And to Ibaraki it really was not sweat. The child had always been careful to be in control of the monsterous strength the resided within a cursed body, only ever being scolded for it. Here though. Here the things that were bad could be praised! But no praise ever came. In fact, noone paid any mind, all too preoccupied with regaining their vision. One could see exactly when the child's heart broke, small arms wavering for the first time since the private training started. But rather than sad, Ibaraki was livid.

A loud bang caught the gamemaker's attention though as Ibaraki threw the weight across the room and put a sizable dent on the floor, glaring at the people who had ignored the child up till this point. "It is quite rude to not pay attention to people when they wish to show you something." Came the ragged snarl from within the dark, a heavy pressure weighing down even from beyond the force field. From the shadows a heavy footstep that couldn't have ever belonged to a child resounded and then the creature stepped into the light. Ibaraki looked... different. Pale flames licked up one arm and the nub like growths had grown into a full fledged horn. Golden eyes that usually held innocence and positivity was narrowed and threatening, a silent rage that burned as hot as the azure flames that wreathed Ibaraki's body. The fan of white hair was highlighted in blue, swaying under the nonexistent winds as soft skin was rendered sallow by the low light. Perhaps most striking of all was that Ibaraki no longer looked like a child. Instead the small child-like body had grown even beyond human proportions and Ibaraki could now stand on eye level to the game makers. It was a jarring change, something completely unexpected as the gamemaker's room shuddered at the force of one demonic clawed hand slamming against the barrier, the remaining lights shaking. "Remember you manners, sirs." Came the deep throated rumble before Ibaraki retreated back into the shadows.

Emerging from the doors, Ibaraki was as the child always appeared, small and weak. Though there was an undeniable tiredness surrounding Ibaraki, each stumbling step broadcasting that loud and clear. Of course this didn't escape the eyes of more predatory tributes, some sneering and marking the child for the kill. But Ibaraki didn't pay any mind, whole body aflame as the curse ravaged the child's small body. Such a change wasn't without backlash and Ibaraki was suffering for it. But for now, the child would seek safety with Cree and sleep the pain away.

The moment the whistle was blown, Ibaraki's eyes lit up and the sight of so much food. Quick as a fox, Ibaraki snatched up a sandwich and seemed to almost inhale the food, not even swallowing. A second sandwich was quickly snapped up in a similar manner as well, the ravenous child licking up the crumbs left behind from the merciless carnage. It was clear that Ibaraki was hungry and could obviously eat much more but after feasting on the meager morsels, the child slunk away into the shadows to the fish hook making station. Pilfering some materials, Ibaraki hunkered down to attempt to make something while keeping an eye on both the other tributes and on Cree. What the child's intentions were was yet unclear but Ibaraki was working with intent so hopefully it wasn't anything dangerous. Hopefully. Debatable as there seemed to be a whole bunch of wires and sharp objects among the stolen materials.

Thankfully before anything potentially dangerous could be created, a loud shout had the child startling so badly that the construct fell to the floor, scattering into the many different pieces that Ibaraki had used. The child's lower lip wobbled slightly but other than that, Ibaraki calmly swept the fallen materials into a pile. and began tinkering again.

Having felt very proud of himself for teaching Moona some new knowledge, Molly filled his plate with vegetables, snacking on a celery as he watched the other tributes. This year seemed to be full of troublesome tributes and he was hoping to make niceties with some during this time. There seemed to be a group of tributes who seemed haughty and arrogant. If he could appeal to their lofty self image, Molly could strike an alliance with them but then again Molly wasn't just looking to ally himself with a few people, he wanted to ally himself with everyone. But a few people were a start anyways and he began to make his way over to the loudly chatting group. Before he could though, a even louder commotion drew the whole rooms attention. Turning to watch, Molly wondered if playing mediator would put him on the two girl's good list. Probably not. It would be best to watch for now and step in if needed later. He did, however, move closer to observe.

Ibaraki stared up at Cree with awe sparking in those large golden eyes, taking in the new appearance. Cree had appearance changing powers too! So that meant that Cree and Ibaraki were really really similar! Both couldn't taste food, both could change their appearances, both were friends! That was three things in common! A thud drew the child out of ecstatic pondering, however, as most tribute's gazes were drawn towards the sparring mats. Those punches looked like it hurt a lot and Ibaraki frowned at that. Why would people try and hurt each other on purpose? It made no sense. Whenever Ibaraki hurt someone, it was always by accident even if the victim said otherwise and it was always followed by an apology. Adults were weird if they wanted to hurt people on purpose. Ibaraki's button nose wrinkled in confusion as the child shuffled just a bit closer to Cree.

Oh that was good to know. At least in the arena, finding food wouldn't be a priority for the both of them then. Well, as long as Ibaraki didn't use the curse to alter anything. "Is food... tasteless for you too?" Ibaraki questioned, voice uncertain as if what the child had just said was supposed to be something sensitive. In a way it was, Ibaraki didn't quite go around announcing that anything put in that fanged mouth had no taste, but it also seemed kind of sensitive for Cree, the subject of food.

Following Cree's actions, Ibaraki took a good look at the obstacle course. It looked hard and despite seeing a girl breeze through it no problem, many were still failing at it and for good reason. It was hard. Ibaraki would be satisfied with just getting pst the first obstacle, the sheer physical difference between the others and the child too large of a gap to mend. Yes, Ibaraki could bench press almost all of the tributes (Cree was the only uncertainty, he was probably too big for Ibaraki to even get a hold of) it didn't mean that those short arms could grab a hold of the bars resting high above Ibaraki's head.

Good question. Ibaraki had no idea. It wasn't like the child could read what was written on the packages either so the only option was to open them. Very careful to not use too much strength, Ibaraki peeled open the packet to reveal multiple oval shapes with a brown coating over each shape. Still unsure of what it was, Ibaraki popped one into a waiting mouth. It was soft but also a bit toothy, though the softness soon melted away into something a bit harder. "Hmm... I do not know but it is safe to eat." Ibaraki reported, rolling the chocolate almond around cheeks that had yet to fully loose it's childish fat. "You should probably eat something though. Come to think of it, I have not seen you eat anything at all... Do you not need to eat? I am sorry for bothering you if that is the case." Ibaraki was unaware of it, but the child was making what some may call puppy eyes, looking demurely up at Cree with a slight pout.

Shuffling in, Ibaraki breaths came in sharp heaving gulps, having ran all the way down. Immediatly golden eyes caught sight of Cree's form and Ibaraki immediately went over to the obstacle course. "Good morning!" Came the cheerful chirp as Ibaraki slowed to a stop beside Cree, holding out young hands for the other to inspect. In them were two packaged snacks, foisted from the mess hall. "I did not see you at breakfast so I brought some food for you in case you were hungry. I do not really know what you like to eat so I hope this is enough!" There was a shine in the child's eye, as if Ibaraki was a puppy looking to get praised.

Molly smiled kindly while shaking his head. "Not at all. I'm here to save people, not to kill. Teaching others the skills they need to survive is part of that mission." He explained. On the inside, he was absolutely estatic. Being able to finally take that first step towards helping people survive longer in the games was the only thread he was hanging on to, the mantra he repeated in order to prevent a spiral of terror. It was unavoidable that he would die but with this first step at least his death wouldn't be in vein.

Molly paused, hands stilling before they resumed it's tapping. "My Mom loves plants so I learned a lot from her." He admitted. The culmination of both of his parent's passions resulted in Molly being particularly knowledgeable about the healing properties of plants but he knew other things. Like the meanings of said plants. And other healing techniques. And... Well anything that had to do with those two fields, Molly was an expert in. Anything outside of that... well one could tell with his superb conversational skills. "Would... You like me to teach you?" The offer was a bit hesitant almost like an afterthought. Molly hadn't taught anyone before and while he knew his material inside and out, he wasn't quite as confident in teaching it to someone else.

Blue eyes flickered over to Moona and they widened for a moment. That was the girl who had died last year after being named victor. A myriad of question floated around his head but he tried to narrow everything down into a conversational tone. But Molly had never been good with words or conversation in the least so his attempt was... questionable at best. "A stab to the chest is treatable if one does chest compressions. By acting as a second heart, one can keep the victim alive long enough for help to arrive. A slash to the throat is less treatable and will kill someone within the minute if any of the four arteries located in the area and cut. If what was broadcasted was true, you shouldn't be alive. It is quite the honor to meet a living contradiction of modern medicine." Molly said lightly, hands flying over the screen to match up the herbs used for healing as well as killing. A long spindly plant blinked off the board as Molly matched the pairs up. "That one was Shepherd's Purse. Very useful for clotting blood. Yarrow, Goldenrod Root, and Nettle powder are also effective alternatives." As he spoke, the listed plants disappeared off the board one by one. It was clear he was knowledgeable on the subject but his manner of speech and method of approaching Moona could have definitely done with some improving.

Molly knew basic survival, that much was a given. Mother had made it her duty to teach her children how to live out in the wild so his survival skills had been gained from that. Knives seemed easy enough to wield, probably not all that different from a scalpel so that left Molly with a range of weapons to test. Though showing off his medical knowledge wouldn't be a bad idea. It would at least give other tributes a sense of safety to know that someone was capable of healing their wounds. Or maybe not, it could get him targeted first, but Molly was willing to take his chances. So on to the plant identification corner he went.

Ibaraki had startled when the Peacekeepers announced that the tributes should finish breakfast in a timely manner, having already wolfed down a second piece of toast during the chaos. Narrowed eyes glanced around, not spotting Cree in the crowd despite hearing his haunting cries echoing around the hallways. Mind made up, Ibaraki snatched up as much food as possible, mostly packaged snacks, before scurrying towards the exit. As the child did so, however, Tayla's familiar appearance passed Ibaraki's vision and a very sullen "Good morning ma'am. Let's do our best today, ma'am" passed through reluctant lips directed at her. While Ibaraki couldn't fully trust Tayla just yet, she hadn't proved herself like Cree had, Ibaraki was still a child that had manners and to not greet her would simply be rude. But with such pleasantries out of the way, Ibaraki darted out as quickly and as silently as the child had first entered the mess hall.

The pitter patter of small feet filled the hallways as Ibaraki tried to remember which room was the assigned one, each door and hallway looking identical to the last one. But with a little guesswork and a lot of internal debate, Ibaraki is very proud to announce that the first door that was hesitantly opened did indeed reveal to weird man and the slightly less weird woman that occupied the same room as the child. Taking the utmost care to be as quiet as possible, Ibaraki sneaked into the room even being careful to close the door without any noise before creeping over to the mess of blankets in the corner. Silently hiding the smuggled food under the blankets, the child finally let out a ragged breath. Oh, now that most of the danger was over, Ibaraki realized that breath was quite hard, too empty lungs fighting for more air. Ah but showing weakness was a big no no, at least that's what Dad always said. Armed with the knowledge that Akane and Jeremy were still in the room, Ibaraki glanced around for any distractions. There! On the bed! Clothes! Yes, that would work. Hurriedly scuttling over to the empty bed, Ibaraki snatched up the clothes before all but running into the bathroom.

As soon as the door clicked shut, Ibaraki let tired legs rest as the child sprawled over the cool tiled floor. Gasping breaths and chilled tile felt nice against the slightly flushed face but there was way too much noise and childish hands clamped over the heaving mouth in an attempt to stifle the noise. A thundering heartbeat was the background music and if Ibaraki concentrated enough perhaps a tune could be forged from the warbling beat. It soon passed however, the labored breathing evening out into something more even as Ibaraki's unique condition began to settle into something resembling normal human breathing patterns. With that out of the way at the very least, Ibaraki at least had the strength to stagger over to the sink to splash water onto clammy skin, much too short to actually look into the mirror and see just how bad the acute attack had rendered the child's appearance.

Glancing over at the pile of clothes, Ibaraki hesitantly picked them up. The tank top wasn't terrible on the child, nothing too scandalous revealed. Sure it was tight and restricted precious airflow all while showing that Ibaraki definitely needed to eat more, but all in all it wasn't all that bad. But the one that the child felt most uncomfortable with were the shorts. They fell around mid thigh, short and not all that appealing as Ibaraki constantly tugged the fabric down. Perhaps the real reason why Ibaraki disliked it though was the fact that it put on display scaled legs that bent awkwardly almost like a birds. They were quite ugly with the scales bunched up in odd patterns that seemed to make no sense. It simply wasn't very humanoid and Ibaraki was much too tired from earlier that no energy could be spared to try and hide grotesque legs. Chewing dry lips, Ibaraki shucked the shorts off and replaced them with the track pants from before, Dad's words ringing as the child shyly shuffled out of the bathroom. Have to hide the ugly parts. Have to keep safe.

Shuffling past the commotion, Ibaraki quickly snatched a piece of toast and skittered away. Keen eyes surveyed the chaos as the child picked a corner to eat at. Mostly, Ibaraki was staring at the tumultuous events even as fangs wolfed away at the bread, devouring it within seconds. Licking the crumbs off newly human fingers, Ibaraki stayed silent. There was still lingering pain in those childish hands, a burning that licked up unblemished skin. Flexing the limbs, the tingling died down slightly but it was still there. It seemed worse than normal though, the constant wildfire that coursed through the child's veins a mere matchstick in comparison to the hungry flames that consumed very human looking hands. Yet another aspect of the curse that Ibaraki would have no choice to but to live with. With a muted sigh, Ibaraki huddled into the corner and returned to watching the chaos unfold

Of the three, Ibaraki was the last to wake up. That perhaps was a blessing as the child shot up, heaving for breath as small lungs worked to carry the needed oxygen through the system. There was a growing pressure behind the child's eyelids that refused to go away as Ibaraki crawled out of the nest of towels. Dashing into the bathroom, small hands hurriedly splashed cool water over the slightly flushed face, going through the motions of getting ready for the day quickly. There was a moment where Ibaraki squeezed golden eyes shut and there was a burning sensation in the child's hands. Biting down on any sound, the hands slowly shifted into more... human-ish appendages, though the nails were slightly sharper than what could be normal. In return, the horn like growths branched out, growing larger as a response to the curse.

When it was all said and done, Ibaraki was left breathing heavily on the bathroom floor, hands twitching ever so slightly. It was a sacrifice that Ibaraki thought necessary. Everyone was going to be training after all and it would only be a hindrance to what the child could do without worry. Besides, the capitol only gave tank tops leaving no room for Ibaraki to hide monstrous hands. Staggering to the door, Ibaraki slowly shuffled down towards the mess hall, not all that hungry. But even in the mess hall Ibaraki couldn't quite catch a break. Tyler's appearance and haunting words certainly did catch the child's eye but there was no sense of fear to be seen within them. After all, Ibaraki knew of scarier things than Tyler

A firm shake of the head was all that Akane received as Ibaraki slipped under the towel, tugging the fabric up to rest against a button nose. "No thank you, ma'am. Good night ma'am." Came the reply though there didn't seem to be any signs of the child actually going to bed. The most that happened was Ibaraki shifting so that the walls were bracketing the child's form. Golden eyes were still staring up at Akane, observing and unblinking in it's vigilance. It was almost a bit creepy having such an intent stare fixed on someone.

Oh so it wasn't a mistake after all. Face coloring with embarrassment, Ibaraki kept small hands up to hide away the unpleasant oddities as the child shank away from the stares. "... 'm sorry for all the trouble." Came the mumble as golden eyes surveyed the room. It was much different from anything Ibaraki was used to. There were beds everywhere and as someone who was used to sleeping on a pull out couch bed, this was already a luxury. Quickly to avoid any more staring and to discourage any questions, Ibaraki ducked into the bathroom. There wasn't any intention of actually washing up, it was just to buy some time, but Ibaraki did kick off the too tight shoes in favor of walking around bare foot. The towels provided could be a very comfortable blanket and pillow if used wisely but first Ibaraki quickly washed off the weird paints the adults had applied on pale skin. It felt weird and the child didn't want to be sleeping with it on. With all that done, Ibaraki gathered up a face towel and a regular one, the load almost threatening to topple as Ibaraki carefully opened the door and buried the scarred face into the soft towels.

Scampering out of the bathroom, Ibaraki ignored the beds and instead picked out a corner of the room where two walls meet, giving a sense of safety. With the spot picked out, Ibaraki set to work folding up the face towel into a nice square before sitting down. This was a much nicer bed than what Ibaraki had at home but it was just comfortable enough that the child could easily sleep. The perfect combination. With the sleeping situation all sorted out, oversized sleeves reached up to start untying the braids that had been woven into fluffy hair.

There was a moment where Ibaraki simply froze, confronted by a higher authority figure. Shrinking into a small ball, less of a target for the peacekeeper to hit, Ibaraki mumbled something slowly stepping back to put distance again. That didn't exactly go over very well as the Peacekeeper only growled, eliciting a yip of surprise from the child. "I-i can't read!" Ibaraki quickly confessed, wincing at the admission of weakness. "So uh... I do not know which room is my own.... sir..." Ibaraki didn't dare mention anything else, having lifted small hands up to cover the horn like growths as well, the dangling sleeves long enough to hide the mangled cheeks as well. Golden eyes were also squeezed shut, as if Ibaraki was doing everything to hide all the weird parts that came with the curse running through young veins.

The moment the door creaked open, Ibaraki hastily covered ghastly cheeks with oversized sleeves, keeping the unsavory parts away from sight. Shrinking away from Akane, Ibaraki seemed to asses the situation. The lady seemed nice enough and wasn't as weird as the man from before but on the other hand, Ibaraki was very firmly convinced that this was the wrong room. So a firm shake of the head was given. Ibaraki was absolutely not lost, just given incorrect information. With that misunderstanding out of the way, the child glared at the unfamiliar woman and slowly shuffled away putting more space between them. While Akane looked nice enough, there was simply no knowing other people's intentions. That's what Dad said.

Stepping off the charriot, Molly let out a yawn and sauntered through the hallways. His room was close enough thankfully and opened the door to his room. There didn't seem to be anyone in his room yet and though there were other names inscribed along with his, Molly didn't stop for long enough to read who it was. Ducking into the shower was perhaps the best part of the day as through his mind formulas and medicine ran through his mind. Things that could be made from all matter of ingredients, plants, animals, even unorthodox ingredients such as stones were reviewed as he lathered shampoo through thick pastel locks. But when it was all said and done, Molly exiting the shower feeling quite refreshed, there was still worry gnawing away at the boy's heart. What if the arena turned out to have an environment that no medicine could be crafted from? What if he died during the bloodbath and couldn't save anyone? These worries raged on in his mind as he got ready for bed.
