“They will expect us to forget it. Leave it to the adults to handle this situations. They’ll claim the everything is fine, even if it’s obvious that it’s not. I, for one, would love to assess the damage done to the crystal. But yes, we really should head to bed. We need to be well rested for tomorrow’s lessons. Do you think I could rest here for the night? I wish not return to my dormitories, and I have things to study. So why not do it in company, however silent and dark it seems? The presence of other dragons makes me feel better…and less alone. My studies won’t affect your rest, I can assure you of that.” Lifei answers, head tilting as she looks at Estelle and solstice

Lifei’s lips curve into a more sinister, threatening growl as she saw Flamesurfer, and electricity once more arched across her back. As the news spreads though, she calms down. “Looks like Sir Tren tried and failed to keep the news from spreading. I knew it. A dark force is trying to destroy the crystal.” Seeing Estelle’s tired look, she brushes her wing gently against Estelle, boosting her strength with mental energy of her own. She tried making ice sculptures, finding that she was able to do so with relative ease. Delighted, she tells Estelle, and the dragon she presumed was Halu “Our powers are back. They’re fine now.”

The very second she receives news of the powers returning to normal, Aether sprints to Pitaya’s dorm to check on her friend. Despite Emily’s protest to not go, she soon finds Pitaya’s dorm. “Pitaya, are you alright? The magic is back, we should be fine now” She tells him, wings fluttering comfortingly as her windchime noises expresses her happiness at her power returning

Lifei began worrying slightly about Estelle. Granted, she seemed the type to be like her, completely unbothered, fine, mostly unbothered by the breaking crystal, but she couldn’t be too sure could she? She went looking for Estelle, eventually finding her in her Dorms, with Halu. “Estelle? Did you notice our magic is gone? The crystal must be in danger. Oh and who are you?” She asks. “A little bit ironic, don’t you think? Straight after the warning by Tren, the crystal suddenly plunges into danger?”

Lifei wasn’t all that bothered, until she tried to spark a orb of electricity to light up her spare night light for reading. She soon realised that she couldn’t, making her rather worried. What was happening? Several students were clustered around discussing, but she didn’t feel all that inclined to join in. She turned on her night light the normal way, before continuing to read. This was way more interesting anyways. It involved explosions! Why bother so much about the fact that magic was gone?

Aether was very panicked. She couldn’t use her magic at all, and she figured none of the other dragons could either. “This has to do with the crystal of power. Something’s happened to it.” She said, so loudly and clearly her voice carried throughout most dormitiories, but also so teacher couldn’t hear.

“Thanks. I’m personally quite good at geography, so if you need any help, you can always ask me! I doubt you’d need my help though. I see chemistry and magic brews as one the same. I especially enjoy it if I do things with absolutely zero clue what I’m doing. It makes it all the more fun. You haven’t actually experienced chemistry if you haven’t tried to blow up the lab at least once. That’s the fun of it. Explosions of different stuff mixed together. I put ethanol near the fire once, when i was trying out something. Not on purpose, but a small part of the lab was in flames before i could put it out. Let’s just say ethanol, fire, ice and electricity don’t exactly go well together” Lifei admits, with a grin on her face.

Aether tilts her head in the fascination. “A cave in the desert with plenty of water? Like a jungle? Odd…but it does show how powerful nature can be. An oasis, surely, a haven of peace for you and your family. If I ever go to the deserts again, I’ll be on the lookout for things like that. I would like to see how this works for myself. How interesting….gosh I’m rambling again. Isn’t dinner almost over?”

Aether smiles “People will eventually find out when she shows herself, so why not tell them the truth early on to prepare them? Reality is never what they seem. It’s why there’s no instruction manual. No one knows what exactly is going to happen. Villains aren’t just going to lay out their entire plan to you, will they? Best to have lesser secrets between your own side, lest all hell breaks loose.” She replies, still closely observing Pitaya to get a rough gauge of whether he liked it or not. Judging by his facial expressions, she figured it was still something relatively new to him, not pleasant, but not something awful either. Somewhere neutral, in between. “You don’t live anywhere near the sea do you? You seem new to the flavour and smell of the sea.” She asks.

“Mainly books on geography. Or science, especially chemistry. There’s been one too many times I nearly blew the lab up— too curious, I suppose. I also enjoy mystery stories, even if they’re fiction. I don’t like history books all that much. I find them too lengthy, as if the author tried to cramp his entire brain’s worth of thoughts into a small book. If one was properly made, it should be thick with several volumes and fill up a shelf on its own. Not squish everything into a small paragraph. You end up with condensed information.” She replies, as she enters the library with Estelle, finding two comfortable seats for them, and placing her geography book at the small round table for 2 in the centre of both seats.

“Emily prefers organs. Animal organs. She doesn’t eat vegetables, or at least the leafy parts. She eats the roots and stems, as well as wild raw ginseng, cloud red herb and ox blood. She’s very strange. She’s basically the opposite of me. If I’m nice, she’s not. If I’m patient, she’s not. However we do have traits that never change. We’re both loyal, analytical and we’ll persevere through anything. Not sure if you meant to think aloud, but well…” Aether answers, chewing the squid thoughtfully. “Did you like the squid?”

Lifei gets up. “I’m done with my food. I want to visit the library since we still have some time left. Care to join me, Estelle?” She asks. Her plate is already cleared of food….and well…cleared. The plate was gone, too. She unfolds her scroll again, and finally spots the library. “There it is….” She mumbles, probably to herself.

Lifei grins “Practice. Lots of it. And it’s fun, once you get the hang of it. Although I am curious…how do you eat only vegetables? Don’t you need meat or seafood?” She asks curiously. “I think you should try one someday, if you want to know what it tastes like. You can close your eyes and pretend it’s not an insect.” She suggests, before heading over to take another smooth, teal colored diamond shape fruit that seemed too pretty to eat. She went back to sit with Estelle, before eating it. It tasted like cheese.

“Yup. It’s squid alright. But if I can’t find seafood I will eat shells. And I can handle food with mild toxin too. Or, I choose something way less delicate. That’s just my other personality. Her name is Emily. She literally eats organs. She likes to eat raccoon liver. Ew. That really sucks.” She shivers is disgust. “Would you like to try some squid?” Aether asks, nearly losing her balance. “Oh yeah, the spiky fruit you don’t like the smell of is called durian. It’s sort of an exotic fruit which some like. Personally I find it too strong.”

Lifei grins “I take it you don’t eat bugs, or durians either? Me too. But I supposed we should respect what everyone eats, even if it is odd. She’d survive well in the wild, with a resilient stomach like hers.” She pokes at the shell with a claw, flipping the lobster body over.

Lifei looks at the assortment of food, the grasshopper eating Fae, and sighs in confusion. Why did they even serve bugs? She, like Estelle, took a LOT of vegetables, and a clawful of berries, before motioning for Estelle to come sit. She had also grabbed a lobster, and instead of just prying it open, she crunched it up in her mouth, shell and all, before neatly spitting out the lobster shell, still in once piece (but barely holding together) and looking very pleased with herself. The shell was dented and had many cracks, but it was obvious it was a lobster, except empty.

“Dragon…fruit? Those pinkish skinned fruits with green tips? Like scales? The one with soft white flesh or purple pink flesh on the inside? I think I’ve heard of those. I’ve never actually tried one.” Aether asked, as if trying to recall what on earth that was. She led Pitaya into the cave, before taking a piece of grilled squid, and some scallops, along with a fair share of vegetables and her favorite swallowberries and stormberries, both of which seemed strangely untouched. Huh. That was odd. She figured they didn’t really like that kind of berry. She balanced her plate on her head, waiting for Pitaya to finish choosing his food

“I like seafood, with a little of plants and berries. But if I can’t get that, I can settle with meat. No insects for me though, I’m skittish at their squirming legs— way too many, and creepy proportions. I made the mistake of seeing a butterfly up close, and now I never want to see one again. You’ve probably guessed, but my favourite is grilled squid, with that smoky barbecued flavour. I also like crabs and scallops. As for plants, any will do. Just no eggplant, I hate eggplant. Or Brussel sprouts. That sucks too. Berries? I like both sweet and sour, though swalloberries are great at cleansing one’s taste buds before eating. But enough about me, what about you?” Aether asks, chatting as the two walked to the cave for dinner.

Hearing Estelle’s words, Lifei nodded, and walked a little ahead of Estelle. “Come on, we’re gonna be late. I know we both haven’t eaten at all, so we should hurry. Otherwise there’s not going to be any food left” She gestures with her claw, pointing towards the very nearby but oh so far dining cave

Lightning jumps off her body in a smooth arc, Lifei stumbling in shock, as Estelle bumps into her. She sneezes, and instantly ice forms a thin layer around them. She shook her head, looking down, and finally taking a good look at Estelle. “Oh. Hello. Don’t apologise, and whoa, slow down. You’re speaking faster than I can register. I’m pretty sure you didn’t bump into me on purpose, so that’s fine. I was waiting for the kitsune dragon, Itsu. I suppose she’s eating already, so wanna walk with me? My name’s Lifei” She states, soothed by the frantic dragons apology.

“Ooh yes. It was lovely. And we always loved adventuring, even from birth. I met her while attempting to scale a mountain on foot. Turns out she was trying to do the exact same thing. We were both resting in a cave during a snowstorm when I met her. We shared some cooked fish and somehow became friends ever since then. We don’t usually meet that often anymore, but we’re still excellent friends, and go adventuring together when we have the time” She replies.

Upon hearing Tren, her lips curl into a grin “Sir Tren is going to have a really hard time. Too bad he mentioned the crystal of power, I’m pretty sure half the students will go breaking the rules. Come on, anyways. Let’s go for dinner” Aether motions to Pitaya, before slapping her head in annoyance at herself. Pitaya can’t see, you stupid dragon. She thinks.

Lifei hurries to dinner, having forgotten to eat again because she was studying. She was very hungry now. She sighs, and hangs around to find Itsu first, so the two could go get dinner together. In the meantime, she ate a few snacks first, before she once again completely forsook her health and fainted.

“No, unfortunately. My sister does not go to this Academy. She goes to another one. Her name is Iridise, and she loves adventuring just as much as I do. There was once, we flew far far away from our homeland, to a beautiful jungle full of exotic flowers and trees. They had curved trunks, and the leaves pointed straight up. We went camping there, and we met several creatures and critters. Oh— and we hunted in the sea, for food. The island was beautiful, and so was the weather. I made a shell crown for her, she made me a daisy crown. We loved that place….the sunsets were simply surreal. And what’s more, it was suprising how many animals there were, land sea or sky. There was a kind of berry there— a native berry, that was so sweet with a easily breakable skin. It was like a fragile bubble with sweet honey like juice. It looked oddly like a square though. We had grilled squid too..gosh I’m getting hungry. Enough about food, we also went cave exploring, and racing, and ice skating and more. Oh I wish I could bring you there to see for yourself.” Aether states, clearly very happy to share her experience

Aether grins, once more tinkling wind chime noises ringing out, indicating that she was happy. “I know you’re not helpless. No one is, unless they aren’t even willing to try. You’re strong. If you were helpless I would have simply gotten a teacher. I don’t know how to deal with those kind of dragons” Aether folds her scroll into her scales, leaving her claws free to help out. “Thanks, I’m glad you think that way. And I can also tell you my stories! I, too have been to several places with my so called sister. Well, not by blood, but we’re certainly close.”

Low mutterings could be heard, but Lifei cleared her throat to reply “It’s nice to see you, Itsu. And yeah, I’ve already unpacked, not that I brought all that much anyways. As much as I hate to admit, some people really do need to rest more, we can’t all be studying for almost the whole day. But you’re right, they could have just dimmed the lighting on their end.” Speaking to Itsu made Lifei feel calmer, and the jolts of electricity reduced, now much calmer ripples, instead of the angry jagged cuts that were previously there. “I really enjoyed chatting with you, but I think you should probably head back to your own dorm, and make other friends. Goodbye, Itsu, you’ve been really nice. Thanks for helping me calm down.” With a smile, Lifei heads off in a random direction, intending to find a quiet spot to study.

“The name’s Lifei, I didn’t get yours either. That dragon, She gestures to the door, turned off the goddamn lights when I was still reading. I was about to write, and i nearly splattered ink everywhere!” She greets, before grumbling to Itsu, electricity still arching off her body in strong pulses. Though her face didn’t show it, her voice and her appearance both showed that she was pissed off to a certain degree, while somehow keeping her face straight. She holds her geography book in her claws, like another dragon might come and disturb her, and cause all hell to break loose. “I’m not one to play around with studies, or anything academic related. I suppose I’ve never actually been to a school like this before. My other school was quiet, everyone either offered their help and expertise or studied quietly. I suppose…I’m going to have to learn things like these..on how to come to a compromise” She sighs, anger evaporating a little, as she makes eye contact with Itsu

Lifei lets out a highly annoyed snarl, fangs bared so she looked primal and wild, scales rippling with electricity that was off the charts as a sharp icicle shot up from the ground. The lights suddenly turned off, just as she was about to pen down her thoughts, on her favourite topic on geography. She cast a highly peeved glance at the sleeping dragon, amber eyes full of unbridled anger and storms out of the room, heading off to find Itsu for some better company.

note: disturb Lifei when she’s studying and that’s the last thing you’ll ever do. other than that she’s pretty nice

Lifei gave a cheery wave to Itsu, before heading off to Amethyst dorms. She heard that there was a dragon like her. Tesona, if she remembered correctly. She really hoped the two of them could experiment together, she certainly had a lot to share. And Tesona was a electric/plant dragon, so they could combine all three skills together! The idea itself intrigued her, and she flew speedily to her dorms, placing her bag down before taking out her book on geography, waiting for Tesona to arrive. Come to think of it— she hadn’t seen her at all, or heard mention of her name. Oh well. If needed, she could check with the Teachers.

Aether watches as everyone is dismissed, before asking Pitaya. “Need any help? I’ve got time to kill, AND stories to share.” She asks, scroll now safely tucked behind her scales, as watchful eyes scan the ebbing flow of people leaving the Hall.
