Athena wrapped her wings around herself tighter, effectively making a feathery blanket of sorts. She didn't have any winter gear, apart from a tiny heater that only ran for five hours at a time. That was saved for emergencies.

She didn't really mind suddenly being dumped into a maze of doom, it was quite different from the monotonous nature of 'home', and a lot prettier. And no one would care if some random street rat just disappeared off the face of the earth. Death was commonplace, and everyone who had a single working brain cell knew that they were going to experience it sooner of later, might as well have some fun before it happens.

"Mostly convincing animals to help me, and gaining insight which otherwise wouldn't be accessible." It was a boring power to be honest, telepathy and flight were thousands of times more exciting, but of course Athena tried to make it sound as interesting and useful as possible. Not that there was much to say.

"I can speak to animals." Athena preferred to keep her telepathy secret, and no one suspected in the slightest that she had more powers than what she let on. Though her mother knew that she had wings, but that was another matter. People were easily distrustful when they met a telepath, and it was just much simpler to have everyone think she was as normal as the rest of them. And being a secret telepath did mean she could play pranks and convince people easily.

"Well then, you all better step back." Athena pulled out the bomb and faced the east gate, the one closest to her. Flinging it at the gate and then leaping back, the gate shattered with a rumble. Not the most subtle, but the gate was too thick to be cut through, her usual preference.

Turning around and giving a little cheery wave, she disappeared into the pathway.

"Look everyone, whoever made this maze, they didn't have any good intentions in mind. If any of you want to live, I suggest you, or we, should the decision be made to stay together, start looking for an exit. And for those distraught souls thinking they're going to be trapped here forever, there has to be a way out. What fun would it be to stay stuck here for all eternity?" All locks could be picked. This one was taking quite a while to figure out though. Last resort would be to just blow it up, she had the bombs ready.

Athena thanked Miss Peri and took the timetable. Memorizing it was easy enough, a quick glance and she slipped it into a gray binder labelled 'General'. There were many others in her bag, one for each subject.

Athena narrowed her eyes at the gates and the paths leading from them. Mazes and tunnels were quite a normal part of her daily life, after all, the sewers were her main method of transportation. But those she had already mapped out with care over the course of many years. Sure, she could make a map of this maze as well, but by then it would most likely be too late.

Inspecting all the gates carefully, there was no draft that she could detect, or any kind of clue which direction was out. Her best bet right now was really to just start walking, but that wasn't the most strategic. And she should probably gather some food and materials before going, there was no telling how long she would be spending in here.

Athena leaped up and reached for her sword - which wasn't there. Finding it lying a few meters away from here, she narrowed her eyes before grabbing it in a sudden motion. Arm still attatched, brain not fried yet - good.

Warily scanning her surroundings, she took in the other people. Most of them weren't up yet, but that wouldn't really make a difference when they were. Scanning their minds, the feedback she received was enough to put her off the task.

They either:
A. Had some blocking mechanism which totally frustrated her
B. Had exeptionally bright minds
C. Had chaotic minds which threatened to drown her
D. Something else altogether

Whatever it was, it was obvious these people weren't from her world.

That is exactly why I do not enjoy being Neo's sister. For the 'reasons why Athena should be on the family tree', yes, this part is forced, so do not blame me for whatever strange pieces of evidence and reasoning may be displayed, Cath is on the family tree.

Oh she did not like being reminded of all this. Her failure to just solve yesterday's problem once and for all... A slight ripple of unease could be noticed by a trained eye. "This land cannot rely on powerful beings to solve its problems. If, for example, we were to just swoop in, destroy the government, and leave, I am not confident that everything will be fine."

She had no intention of following her mother's footsteps, or becoming any traditional princess for that matter. Heck, she didn't even look like her mother! Ok fine, maybe she did. Mostly. But not the wings. And quoting herself, "There are many differences that anyone with a acceptable eyesight would be able to discern."

Still, she kept a smile on her face like she was totally ready to sleep for 100 years and wait for a true love's kiss. That sounded totally ridiculous.

Athena woke up the next day with an extreme headache. But life must go on, and having a headache sadly didn't mean that she could take the day off. Unless she wanted to starve.

Flipping out of bed with a considerable amount of effort, she let her body go on autopilot mode and began thinking about her current predicament. Ayran was still running around, as was Felix. Kaori's memories weren't completely gone, and she wasn't one to take risks. Though any more telepathic ventures today would probably be the death of her. So she would have to wait. And Athena Luminia Lediana was not a patient person.
