Athena was normally pretty calm and nonchalent. And she still was. Just with a slight hint of surprise. She was pretty sure schools weren't supposed to kill their students on the first day. The tendrils of shadow were easy, basic theory, light cancels out shadow, so she simply blasted them a couple of times with starlight. Starlight was the strongest kind, and she had to admit that she did enjoy the cool fireworks effect when they mingled with darkness. And that was sure to impress everyone.

She summoned a glowing ball of light and made it float in front of her, lighting her way, though there wasn't much to see. Just neverending layers of darkness. There were a couple of other struggling students, and she used her sword to cut through their bonds, giving a quick wink as she continued on her way. Always good to gain a few allies.

Welcome, to the Institue of the Unique, Talented, and Magical!

"Please, find a spot, we might be a little crowded, but don't worry, there's space for everyone." The level ones were ushered into a wide room, void of all furniture, apart from the long podium squeezed against the east wall, and colourful banners hanging on top of it. Above the banners, seven rings of balconies were separated from the main room by glass panels, as if they were zoo enclosures. Faces were pressed against the glass, hundreds of students watching as the level ones timidly stepped into the room. When the noise of moving bodies subsided, a clear voice rang across the room, and all heads turned towards the tall figure of a beautiful woman dressed in a luxurious red gown, standing in the middle of the podium.

"Welcome, to the Institute of the Unique, Talented, and Magical! And welcome to your sorting ceremony!" Then suddenly, the room dissolved into darkness, and all the level ones found themselves entangled in tendrils of shadow.

Athena couldn't care less whether the Peacekeeper had found her that day, and the subsequent series of events had happened. But she had to admit there was a slight thrill of excitement at the prospect of being able to stretch her limbs a little. Standing casually at the front of the crowd, she found no reason to volunteer, as she would be picked anyways. She didn't look for fame like certain others.

At the announcement of team battles, she didn't even blink. Though it was slightly annoying that she would have to work with others, instead of killing them. But nontheless, she was going to win.

Upon her name being called, it was like she was a puppet come to life, suddenly brightening and straightening, just before all eyes turned to her. Stepping gracefully up to the podium, she smiled and gave a light wave to the assembled crowd. And it was extremely satisfying watching the disapointment of those who had tried so hard, but alas, just weren't good enough.

Appearance: I'm tempted to use the cute anime girl, but how about some more detailed verbal description this time?
Pale blonde hair with her usual frost blue/silver/white eyes, they normally possess a soothing kind of effect, but turn icy when she's angry. Has a pair of frost blue/silver/white wings which she make appear and disappear at will. She hasn't told anyone about them, and doesn't intend to. Usually wearing a loose-fitting dress the same colour as her eyes and wings, she switches to tighter fitting clothing in the same colour when expecting needing to move quickly and agily. A sword whose blade and handle are intricately decorated in swirls of, you guessed it, silver/frost blue/white hangs at her side on a thin belt of, yes, the same colour. The belt is also home to other smalled weapons like daggers or darts, all decorated the same way as her sword.

Personality: Let's see if I can RP her personality clearer with my newfound experience...
Obedient, hardworking, and energetic to her teachers, she is the exact definition of a perfect student. Perfect grades, perfect track record, first hand up in the air, full and complete answers. Perfect. Just perfect.
Secretly rebellious, she isn't afraid to bend a few rules without adults noticing. This is the side of her fellow students and friends know. Friendly, charming, and mysterious, she is, to many students, a goddess.
But alas, every hero must have a dark side. Athena is still naive, in some ways. She is afraid of blood, and has never, would never hurt anyone in a serious way. She is also quite fond of her reputation, with both adults and students, and will try to the very best of her ability to uphold it. She has quite a severe case of self-blame, thinking that all the bad things in the world is her fault, and she could have prevented or fixed them.

Backstory: There is only one possible option.
Princess of Altanlis, the kingdom the Institute is located in, her name is known far and wide, both because she is a well-loved princess, and her track record of competition victories is, let's say, quite impressive. Her parents were strict, and old-fashioned, their plans for Athena's future was to get married to a rich man, and become a mascot of the kingdom, in a way, not its ruler. Athena opposed this as soon as she heard of it, and has tried her very best to rebel, but fear has kept her from doing what truly needs to be done.

Unknown to everyone, she used to sneak out into the city at night, the city city, not the mansions aristocrats lived in. The part which really couldn't be called a city, more of a big village. Living conditions there were strained, even though it was right next door, her parents couldn't be bothered sorting out its many problems. She'd made friends there, made a reputation for herself, she had a life there.
She'd met a wonderful person, by the name of Pietro. He was funny, handsome, and they pulled pranks and laughed at the results together. He was the only person who knew her true identity.
Then whispers of Him started. The murderer. Who killed in a way no one had ever seen before. At first she thought nothing of it. She was confident of her skills. But He came. He sneaked up on her when she wasn't watching, tricked her straight into a trap. He'd leaped, armed with nothing but his powers, and was about to slice her apart when Pietro leaped in front of her. She could still remember the strange reddish colour of His spell, like fresh blood. The spell which was supposed to take her life, but took Pietro's instead. His blood was spilled, and He'd collected it in a tiny crystal vial. Then He'd left without a word. Without an explanation. And Pietro, her one true friend, the one person she'd ever confided in, was gone. Forever.

After the incident, she sank into a state of depressed sulking, forgetting food, water, everything. Basically losing the will to live. She didn't bother returning to the palace, giving up the identity of Princess Athena Luminia Lediana and becoming just another one of the suffering villagers. She pretty much tried to commit suicide, but apparently she couldn't really starve to death. At least not quickly enough. She was ready to stab herself, but upon seeing the injustice in the village, she resolved to using her power to help them. Originally planning it to be the last thing she did, she returned to the palace, claiming she'd been kidnapped, and petitioned for better conditions for the village. She succeeded, and was about to go through with suicide, when her parents decided to send her off to boarding school, hoping to gain more reputation through their daughter's acheivements.

Appearance: Frost blue eyes with hints of silver, pale blond hair, slender and possessing a kind of otherworldly grace. Clothes change as suddenly as her personality.

Personality: Whatever she needs to survive. She'd learned long ago that to survive, she'd have to learn to please people. Or drive them away when neccessary. She can go from energetic and friendly to serious and silent and back again in a matter of seconds.

Powers: Telepathy
Able to read people's minds and track thoughts, as well as tamper with their minds should she wish. Depending on the difficulty of the task, her mental energy will be drained after performing it. Examples include (Ranked by difficultly):
1. Mental shockwaves - These can kill if strong enough, but she mostly sticks to minor ones which cause dizziness or confusion. Usually requires few hours, up to a day's rest after minor ones, will pass out for at least a day if something stronger.
2. Memory tampering - Adding or removing memories, up to half a day's rest afterwards.
3. Transmitting - Speaking in someone's mind, barely drains her energy.

Athena somehow managed to kick the cloaked figure holding her. Her response was an even tighter grip. That alone was bad enough, but worse yet, she felt her magic draining away every moment whatever they were using to restrain her was at work. She was losing energy rapidly.

"Hurry up, you wouldn't want to waste too much time. I have such festivities planned!" A blast of red energy hit Rei in the chest. "I don't want anyone regretting leaving before they've seen them!" The windows and door slammed shut, then made a hissing sound as they locked themselves.

"Rei! What do you think you're doing!? Let him go, let all of them go!"

"Don't worry little princess. He'll be fine." Turning back to the guests, the figure's voice got harder. "We don't have all night."

Literacy// Semi-Literate - 3-5 paragraphs (sometimes less, but longer paragraphs), very few to no spelling/grammar mistakes, engaging and fun plots. Needs to work on expressing emotion in a non-confusing way. Can RP in Chinese. (And Spanish?) (But English will forever remain my first and favorite language.)

Length and Style// Depends on how much I want/feel there is a need to say. First posts are usually very long. Dialogue would be much shorter. Third-person and past-tense, kind of like writing a story.

Interests/Genre// FANTASY! MAGIC! Magic schools forever, but I love just schools in general, or sci-fi, or quests, or war, or mystery, or pretty much anything exciting! Percy Jackson, Keeper of the Lost Cities, Warrior Cats, Harry Potter, Maximum Ride. (If anyone's read the last one.) Note: Horror is kind of a stay-away for me, got an overactive imagination.

Maturity and Romance// Romance is fine, so's gore/violence. I'll write what I think appropriate for my character at the time, within the RP rules, of course. I'm not the best at writing romance, as I don't often put my character in relationships. But I'll try my best! I'll tell you if I think it's getting overboard. Do keep in mind that I'm 11. ~~Do what you want with that information. Yes, I mean it.~~

Athena hissed and struggled, and blasted random bolts of fire and ice, feeling slight satisfaction in hearing painful grunts. “Now now, you don’t want to destroy the palace, do you?” They tied her hands behind her back. Trying to phase out of her bonds, panic was truly starting to settle in when nothing seemed to work. No telepathy, no paralysis, not even creating a tiny light to see what was going on. “Now, you stay here like a good little princess and I’ll be right back.”

“Welcome, ladies and gentlemen! To the true gala!” The same cloaked figure Athena had run into earlier seemed to materialise in thin air, giving a little mock bow to the king and queen. Tall and imposing, the room temperature seemed to drop ten degrees. “Your majesties, such a fine party you had planned. Pity I shall have to alter it a little.” Turning back to the assembled guests, he spread his hands and addressed the room as a whole. “Save the panic, there will be much use for it later. But no need to get so serious, let’s lighten up the mood, shall we?” A cloud of black smoke appeared, clearing to reveal Athena, still very much beautiful, but obviously being held captive. “Like I said, your princess won’t be harmed. Though you will have to pay a little entrance fee.” A pouch appeared, floating in the air, next to all the guests. “Just put all your valuables in there, and we’re good to go.”

Just a little more... Athena sprinted around the corner - to come face to face with a man in black robes. "Why little princess, thank you very much for your wonderful diversion!" Figures emerged from all around her, cackling.

Meanwhile, the guests were panicking. The masked figures had herded them back into the throne room, where the king was struggling to get everything under control. "Settle down everybody. Don't worry, your precious little princess won't be harmed - if you give us every last piece of gold you have."
