While all that had been happening, Makau had been sitting in a tree, trying to figure out what to do next. She knew how bad her injuries were, a deep scrape on her shoulder that had been opened even more by all the climbing and a more direct hit to her upper thigh. Knowing it could have been worse, considering her attacker was aiming to kill, she didn't complain, but now she was in a bit of a predicament. Since she'd run from the grunts, she had very little idea where anyone else was, and she needed to get back to base before she lost too much blood. So, with hasty bandages made from scraps of her jacket, she got out of the tree and started walking in the direction of the base.

Makau could actually feel the bullet as it whizzed by, and she was really wishing she'd picked up that gun now. But she didn't stop moving - or didn't dare is more like it - because she knew they'd run out of branches, and her small size would give an advantage on the thinner limbs. Or, at the very least, she'd trap them. She had a feeling they didn't particularly want to tangle with her.

Perfect, she thought with a sinister inner smile. She took a moment to remember where they were, ducked around the trunk between shots, and threw it best she could, aiming for the face. 	Makau reached across to another tree, out in the open for barely a moment before she swung and hid behind a trunk once more. She continued this, getting closer to the grunts every time, until she was only a tree or two away from them. "'Morning, Andy," Kace says, like absolutely nothing just happened. He picks up his phone again and scrolls a little further through instagram. Many - almost too many - of his friends were already posting pictures and such, despite it only being 9:30 or so. Although, many were from last night as well, and he could tell at least a dozen of his dancer friends had been together for a sort of 'good luck' tradition. Kace remembered telling Elin he should go, but as soon as the blond knew who already planned on going, he'd rejected the idea.

Kace is about to say something, but Elin stands up, grabbing a black duffle bag from beside the coffee table. The taller boy smiles, opening his arms in a 'give me a hug you adorable nerd' way. The blond stares at him a moment, neutral expression not shifting in the slightest, but then walks over and gives his friend an one-armed hug. Kace places a light kiss on his cheek before he can pull completely away, and Elin doesn't seem fazed by it at all. "Do well, all right? And bring home some gold, 'kay?"
"'Kay," Elin replies, "I'll be back at four or five. Remember to feed Ave." With that, he heads out towards the front of the house, and a door closes a few seconds after he leaves.

Makau tried to take cover best she could, but a bullet grazed over the top of her shoulder despite her efforts. With a low hiss of pain, she hauled herself up onto a tree branch using mostly her uninjured arm. From there, it was a little easier to climb, but she had to stay on the side of the tree that wasn't facing the grunts, and that made it slightly more difficult. Really, this was an idiotic plan if there ever was one, but she was 59% sure she could pull it off.

	Within what seems like a fraction of a second, Makau's in front of the grunt, already bringing up her hand. Putting as much force as she can behind the strike, she slams the heel of her palm into her attacker's finger joints. The gun is knocked out of the grunt's hand, skidding in the snow to an almost safe distance, and her smile widens. "I don't need to stall for time, stultus." [Read more]

The bullet only whistled by, but it was close enough to send Makau's heart leaping in fear. But she didn't flinch, didn't give any outward sign she was terrified. Instead, she looked up, directly at her attackers in the trees. "Too afraid to come down and fight a lone kid?" She asked, raising the pitch of her voice slightly. If she tried, from that far away, she could seem little more than 11 years old, and it'd be too late once they came down.

	Makau, as silent as a mouse, started to follow Rylie outside, but changed course slightly. She'd already heard a couple of gunshots, and wanted to make sure she didn't run directly into anyone if they went after Gem or Rylie. This is the time where your gun would have come in handy, Kau.
