"Oh, and you can have this back now." Hiraeth said, handing Ten the little device back. Without a single bit of hesitation, Ten was throwing it across the room in one fluid motion. His aim was perfect, it hit the door right beside Lee and shattered into tiny metal pieces.
"It was trash anyway. I need to rebuild the whole thing. Start over. I hate starting over. I hate this." Ten threw up his hands in a frustrated way and stomped off towards the living room. The whole area seemed slightly lighter with him gone, as if he'd taken along his own personal storm cloud. Hiraeth smiled apologetically at Matthew.
"Sorry about that. He gets into moods. He just needs some time away from his projects, that's all."

"You were talking about how you agree on my idea about sleep." Hiraeth replied. "There's plenty of space upstairs. Make yourselves at home."
"Or don't, I'd prefer it that way." Ten muttered to himself, fiddling with a tiny gear in a distracted way. He acted a little like his mind was far away, doing multiple things at once. Which wasn't too far off the mark.

"There's a little more to it than that, Greg. And, really, I'd prefer not to be called a thing, thank you very much." The snarky tone to Ten's voice sounded more hostile than before, and Hiraeth took it upon himself to answer the questions instead.
"There are many ways to kill them, disarming them is a bit more difficult. But we really shouldn't worry about it right now. You all were just reborn, you must be tired."

"Well-" Hiraeth started, but Ten cut him off with a frigid glare.
"We each have our reasons for... disliking monsters. Truth is, we hunt them too. But most human hunters decide we're lying or too much trouble and try to kill us off. But you all trusted Hiraeth, to some degree. Fascinating." He said simply, looking directly at the assembled people for the first time. He didn't appear very fascinated, but there was the tiniest bit of curiosity in his cold eyes.

"Hiraeth. I've told you three times that bringing in humans is a stupid and potentially deadly idea." Ten said, jumping off of the counter. Really, even with his fierce attitude, he didn't seem all that threatening. More tired, hungry, and sad. But his eyes said otherwise, the pastel blue depths shining with careful determination and intelligence. Hiraeth, however, looked like an excited puppy.
"But these humans are special. They're more monster hunters! They might be able to help! Right, guys?" He glanced at them, practically bouncing on his heels.

Directly through the hallway was the kitchen, with an island and gleaming marble countertops. There was Ten (sitting on the island instead of in a chair, because who really wanted to sit normally?), little bits and pieces of metal scattered all across the polished surface as he fiddled with something small in his hands and tapped his foot against the cabinets thoughtfully. Hiraeth didn't bother assuring anyone that Lee was safe or anything, just went over to Ten and plucked the tiny device out of his hands.
"Oh, great. You're home. Well, I guess it's time for bed-"
"Haha, very funny, you know you love me. We have guests." Hiraeth replied, not fazed in the slightest by Ten's withering glare or harsh comment.
"And I care... why?" Ten answered, trying to take his device back. Hiraeth nimbly avoid him, finally turning to the humans.
"They're Ten and Lee. My friends. Don't worry, they won't hurt you."

Hiraeth seemed to know his way perfectly. The path was well-lit with the street lamps, but the cobblestone was old and crumbling in some places, making it difficult to walk if you didn't watch where you were going. He didn't stumble, didn't hesitate at turns, and didn't even look nervous when a loud screech or howl would erupt from another part of the town. Hiraeth just continued on as steadily as ever until they reached a house. It didn't look any different from the ones they had passed earlier, save for a light being in a few of the front windows. Nonetheless, he knocked and only had to wait a second before Lee answered.
"What exactly have you been doing for the past fifteen minutes? You know what, I rather know where the dog is. Or why you have a little pack of humans following you." She said, using her second set of clear eyelids to blink so she didn't lose eye contact with Hiraeth.
"Well, can I come in first?"
"Fine. Everyone in." Lee replied, holding the door open a little further just as Hiraeth hopped inside the brightly lit foyer.

"Not really. Monsters are kept far away from the Void of Silver, I'm not sure how they got in here." Hiraeth replies. "Come on, this way. I don't want someone to recognize your scents over mine, and I've already been still too long." He heads off down another alleyway, barely making any sound on the stone.

Hiraeth ignored Despair's question. You'll know soon enough. He thinks to himself as he answers Greg. "Lastina exists in the Void of Silver between Veil and Rukni. It's most easily accessible from the Library of Souls and the Beast Lair. Without entry from either of those places, it takes enormous amounts of power to pass through the dimensional barriers unharmed."

"Hiraeth." He corrects. "It's Welsh. Anyways, if you all agree, then I'm sure my friends won't mind." Except Lee because she's going to murder you for not getting Ten anything to eat and bring humans over.

"Okay, okay. Let's make one thing very clear, I am vegetarian. I don't see humans as desserts, just dangers." Hiraeth replies. "And furthermore, this arguing is stupid. Every single julinse will hear you, and you'll all die. Look, if I promise to keep you guys safe for at least tonight, and inform you as best I can on what's happening, can you refrain from attacking my friends?"

Hiraeth glances away nervously, the shifting gears of his mind practically visible on his face. Last time you made a deal, Lee wasn't happy with you. But, you also got a chat with Tallian that led to his death. Plus, humans without weapons can't do that much harm, right? "All right, what kind of deal?" He asks, eyes narrowed at Toby. "I might be able to supply you all with a safe space and a way to arm yourselves, but what's to keep you from turning on me?"

Hiraeth's claws slipped back into their hidden state, and he takes a step back. "That's... humans don't do that. They do what they have to do to survive. They kill to save themselves."

"Hm, I don't know. Maybe because he's a monster. Maybe because monsters came here to take human souls. Maybe because he has to survive off blood. Maybe because you were told to." Hiraeth replies. "It's instinctive for humans to dislike monsters. Why should new hunters be any different than the old ones?"

"A friend. Who can't protect himself. So, I do. If you all are the next batch of monster hunters, I will do to you what I did to them if it saves him." Hiraeth replies. His gaze flicks away for a moment, as if he heard something, but the rest of the town is quiet. Not now, Lee. Don't look for me now.

"I don't want to kill you, but I'm willing to if it protects Ten." Hiraeth replies. Again, he seems hesitant. "And I rather give your souls a fast death. Others will not be so inclined."

"You're monster hunters?" Hiraeth asks, eyes widening. He looks worried, as if the collection of teenagers would try and take him down right here. Which, of course, they probably wouldn't now. Against some monsters, they might lose if they don't get their act together. But against Ten... He thinks. Making a quick decision, he puts up his claws, narrows his eyes, and growls a little, the sound more akin to a cat than a dog.

Hiraeth opens his mouth like he's about to say something, then closes it, thinking for a moment. "You really are all clueless. Why are you here?" He asks.

Hiraeth's smile widens, then drops completely. "I might not harm you, as long as you stay out of my path, but there are other monsters that might. I suggest you stay inside for now. Unless you have a reason for being out?"

"Hm. Good thing I'm vegetarian." Hiraeth smiles. Suddenly, he seems a lot less threatening and a lot more like a friendly kid. Except for the claws, which are a little disconcerting. He steps from around the corner, not coming any closer, but moving enough so he's fully illuminated by a yellow glow from above.
