Cami lowered her staff. “Very well then. I shall allow you to continue along your merry way. In a not as merry time as this.” She leans down to pet the wolf, and scoops up the fluffy sheep, who was blocking the way. “Run along now. And don’t veer off the main path, unless you want your energy drained before you even cross the mountains. These meadows are pretty, yet equally ridden with monsters.” She pauses to draw a breath, as if considering something, before speaking again. “If you need a rest, my cottage isn’t too far from here. There’s snacks and warm beds. Just don’t touch my potions, and the cauldron, and you’ll be fine. Nice to meet you, Monarda…and company.”

With that, she resumes her herb-hunting, eyes still flicking to the band of traveler’s every now and then.

Wei En waved goodbye to Amelia cheerily, before pulling out a screwdriver from her seemingly endless pockets. She tackled Bubbles from the air, unscrewing a back compartment to reveal a small screen. Clicking on it, a recording feature appeared, and Wei En checked to see if it was working. Her voice had lost its slightly insane, happy chirp, having been replaced with a more serious, monotonous voice that seemed as if Wei En was presenting a report.

“Amelia: A silent girl, well-mannered with deep and intense thoughts. Extremely clever, and likely equally talented, though her understanding of machines is a little lax. Her fascination with that which is human and that which isn’t is quite peculiar for someone who wield the title of Ultimate Astronomer. Information presented to Subject 001 Ultimate Hacker may be inaccurate. Beware of falsehood. Talent may have something to do with spiritual workings, or some fancy entity realm thing that has yet to be explained using logic.”

The screen flashed once, before transcribing all she had said into a report, with a small photograph of Amelia beside it. Underneath it had been typed: [alliances: kei, weien (possibly)]

And underneath it. Do Kei and Amelia have a special connection?

Well. Looks like someone had their priorities straight.

After Wei En was done being all serious and boring, she switched back to her usual, happy, mildly overbearing attitude, humming as she fiddled with her contraptions and waited to be approached.

Reilin’s writer has forgotten Reilin existed. Reilin found her room, decorated crudely with a huge portrait of herself, and someone she didn’t know. Putting her items away, she rests for a moment, before getting up and wandering the hallways of their dorms, staring at people’s portraits.

Cami had been searching for elderflower roots at Meadowsweet Mountains, accompanied by a fluffy cotton sheep and a cookie wolf. The cotton sheep was frolicking about, being chased playfully by the wolf. If one had not looked close enough, they would certainly think the wolf was about to maul the sheep to death.

Spotting the group of adventurers, Cami slams her staff on the ground, summoning her potion bottles, as she pointed her staff towards them. “Is your alliance to that of Dark Enchantress Cookie? State your purpose, if you will.” On her waist, a pouch of various herbs, potion bottles and berries lay, and her hair was neatly tucked behind a beret-shaped cream puff hat. It looked awfully like Cream Puff Cookie’s, and under the soft gleam of the moonlight, it was easy to mistake Cami as her senior, especially if you looked from afar.

Tulip clambers up the table, staring pointedly at Fortevera. A small hand raised, pointed towards the drawing, then gestured towards herself. She turns to Kinoko, staring as she gave a little wave, albeit a little stiff. Meanwhile, Celine was busy being unfocused and supremely uninterested in whatever Fortevera and Kinoko were up to. She seemed to look a little more tired than she used to.

All Sera got was a sudden flash of bright white light, before she was knocked back onto a pile of conveniently placed, fluffy pillows. There was suddenly a magical barricade between her and the door. “Don’t tempt me, cloud girl. My patience runs thin.” Otherwise, there was no other comment made, and the guard was otherwise ignorant to the girl’s pleas

“You’re very vague. Not sure whether I like that or not, ehe~ But you’re alright, I suppose. Are we…friends then?”

Wei En leans towards Amelia expectedly, not enough to trespass into her personal space, yet enough to make herself un-ignorable.

“Psh, people suck. Robots are much easier to understand than humans. We’re too complex, too calculative. We lie too much, and that’s really crafty of them. With machines like Bubbles, the truth is so easy to detect. If I could, I’d replace everyone with AI. Plain and simple, no wishy-washy nonsense. Less emotions to deal with too. Everyone should have a switch! Something that can turn their emotions off and on….emotions aren’t all bad…hehehe. Guess I know what else to work on!” Wei En rolls her eyes, huffing as she blew her hair out of her face, then grins again.

“Anywho. I’d love to work with you and learn more about astronomy sometime!” She says, clapping her hands and giggling.

She rocks about, whistling as Amelia seems to drift out of focus for a while. She understood. It happened a lot with her.

"Want one of your own?” The question was abrupt and unexpected, and Wei En was already digging in her pockets.

“Yeah we definitely should. What’s your perspective on this game thingy though? Think we’ll all make it out alive? With all our limbs? I honestly wouldn’t mind prosthetic limbs. Better, too.”

“Little girl of clouds, you’re not escaping. I value my life, thank you very much, I don’t need Andrea to come and torture the hell out of me for letting you go. And please stop, you’re giving me a headache. I’m sure you want to return to whoever the hell you belong to alive, so I suggest you don’t irk me anymore.” A voice answered her from behind the door, in a slightly miffed voice.

”The free-spirited adventurer soared through the lands. She took in the sounds and drank in the sights, the picturesque landscape of cookies and nature. Like a bird she soared, carefree and alone, a friendly wolf in the pack of sheep. She didn’t dare lay her head to rest, for fear she would perish and wilt away of boredom. Then the nightmares came. They never ended. They never stopped, until her paintings were left in ruin. No azure sky, no sun-kissed seas, the entire land nothing more than doom and despair. Then darkness ruled, with an iron fist, and the free spirited adventurer came to rest. She no longer flew, she remained grounded, hiding amongst the shadows, till hope she saw”

Coca heard the familiar clank of dragonscale armor. Shifting into her dragon form for enhanced speed and agility, she chased the sound down, weaving through the forest, silently and swiftly. Ah. Another dragon cookie. She observed Auspice from beneath the bushes. Perhaps, to another normal cookie, she would be hard to notice, but unfortunately Coca had heightened hearing, having also been part dragon. The bushes rustled a little, enough for Auspice to notice, and a faint cotton candy scent lingered in the air, as glistening eyes gazed at the cookie clad in armor from under the bush.

Celine’s textbook was already at that page. Perhaps coincidence, or perhaps this girl was just insanely academically driven. Whatever it was, she didn’t seem to be very interested in the Mana Theory, having already pre-read the textbook. Still, she tried to pay attention, folding up her previous doodle and passing it to Buttercup. The doll passed the drawing of Class 2-4 to Saeha, as Celine slumped on the table, half dreaming, half focusing.

“Very likely so. Doesn’t seem like it’d be anything else. Hey- you wanna see something cool?” She typed something into her watch, before a garbled, backwards recording played. Tinkering with it for a while, she finally stopped, managing to produce an eerily similar laugh like that of Monokuma’s. “Quite clever, don’t you think?”

“Nice to meet you, Ultimate Astronomer. Tell me more about your talent! D’you explore the stars? Chart astronomy maps?” Wei En, half hugging Bubbles, half fiddling with the watch on her arm. Her expression dipped into a frown- for just a split second, before resuming its usual cheery grin. Should you have blinked, you would not have seen it.

“Obviously. Accuracy is key when it comes to computers and AI. One wrong letter or pattern in the code and your whole system fails- or goes haywire. Just like gene mutations. You know, mismatches and all that stuff.”

She paused, drawing a breath. “I must admit though, you don’t seem like a starchaser. But then again I suppose I don’t seem much like a hacker, if I didn’t have Bubbles constantly floating around me. I s’pose it’s just a matter of appearances. Can’t judge someone based on looks after all.”

Wei En grinned. “Yayyyyyy! I’m so glad you like it!” She noticed she was still carrying Bubbles, so she proceeded to fling Bubbles in the air, clapping her hands gleefully. “Ehe~ Isn’t that great, Bubbles?” The robot looked rather pissed with her, to have been flung so unceremoniously, but otherwise nodded, bowing to Amelia in thanks. It became more obvious now, after several obvious rounds of Wei En manhandling the robot, that it did not possess any defense system. Only a bit of attitude.

"There might be a way out of it. A lot remains to be seen here."

“Maybe. Maybe not. That bear is cutely terrifying though, I must say. And if we’re here, then someone must have caused it, naturally. Ohh..right. One of us is a traitor! Yeahhhhhhhh! But if we stick together thennnnn that should minimise the chances of dying. Then again…we haven’t scoped out the compound yet. Hmmm…would the MVS model be best suited for that…or”

She dug into her jacket pockets, before pulling out a small, square microchip, accompanied by a scroll so long it rolled out on the floor and hit Amelia’s foot. The scroll was littered with messy formulas, complex code and sketches, all accompanied by a crazed scrawl near impossible to decipher. “Oh. Sorry Amelia…now let’s see…”

“Wei En. That’s Nightrekra, in case you were wondering. Say, you’re pretty cool yourself, eh? You don’t speak much, you just think a lot. Hey. I haven’t told ya my talent yet, have I? Well. I’m the Ultimate Hacker. Nice to meet you.” She bows.

As Amelia approached, the robot’s eyes turned to ovals, letting off a melodious tinkling noise and floating over to Amelia. Wei En turned around quickly and suddenly, pink and blue ponytails swinging behind her like a whip, even making the same crack. Thankfully, they hadn’t hit anyone.

“Ooh ooh ooh. Newcomer! Hello, uh…Amelia? Yeah? That’s your name, right? Well, this here is a robot. Their name is Bubbles, and they are my robot companion, helper, manager, ehhhhh whatever ya wanna call them. They do a lot of things for me. I made it. I had several more models before them, but I eventually decided on this one. Supercool, eh?”

She tackles Bubbles, showing Amelia the thumbprint and retina scanner. “See. Latest model MVS-5296.83. Equipped with high tech sensors, x-ray vision, heat maps and a bunch of other things. Runs on the latest AI module I programmed. Intellectual capabilities through the roof, IQ of 230. The model’s named after Marilyn Vos Savant. Wouldn’t call her a sentient being, but she can definitely hold a decent conservation with you. Or at least better than Mr Grumpy Swear-Mouth over there. Cool, right? Yeah??”

Bubbles let out a series of beeps, reminding Wei En she hadn’t answered the other statement. “Killing Game? Eh. Potato, tomato, game’s just a game. You die if you die. It’s very upsetting, but I don’t see how we can get out of this situation anyways. Might as well just play along. Best case scenario we all get out alive.” Her cheery disposition was quite unfitting for this situation, and if you didn’t known better, you might just think she was insane.
