Okay, just because he was wearing a Cambodian uniform usually, doesn't mean that he was at a lower office than Grimm. What even did the Healer brigade even have over the Intelligence department to warrant its head to be in a higher position of power than him? Even in his sleep, Belphi bristled, the entity that used his eyes also joining in his rage as a wave of nausea rolled over his companions. One clawed hand grabbed Grimm by the collar and dragged her uncomfortably close as the ancient one's piercing red gaze stared right past her. "Youngsters should grovel before their elders." He snarled, eyes flashing in a rare sort of anger. "You're lucky I haven't reduced you to ink for tossing me around like a rag doll. I suggest you know your place in the presence of two old ones, or else." Throwing her own words back at her with a mocking lilt, Belphi tossed her towards Aster before stalking towards the explosion that had rocked the lands, so sick and tired of having to be awake. He hated this.

Getting tossed up in the air didn't really deter Belphi from being asleep. Nor did being caught again as he snored away. Head empty, no thoughts here. Only sleep.

When he was set down, Belphi finally sat up with a yawn, stumbling after Grimm and Aster. Soft snores followed him as he slept walk, still very much unconscious but somehow still aware enough to know when to walk and follow after the others.

Username:
Tsukoyomi

Character name:
Lucius Vainglory

Age:
18

Gender:
Wouldn't you like to know, Weather boy

Pronouns:
He/Him

Species:
Witch (?)

Appearance:
Some say the Vainglory family is descended from monsters birthed from the Titan's body itself, others just scoff and say that if anything they were the boogers the Titan threw away. Regardless, the Vainglory's are a little... less solid than your average witch, viscous and pliant. The ink-like hair and eyes are a family trait, passed down from child to child as their vainest trait. The best Vainglory is the one with the best appearance, after all. Luci's purple hair, de-saturated and pale, is a shame to that name and the cracks lining his body that leak out ink is quickly patched before any can taint his perfect black eyes. Even while indoors, Luci wears sunglasses to hid away his shame, long clothes that hide any imperfections draped over a dangerously scrawny body.

Personality:
Nihilistic and utterly unmotivated, Luci is the exact opposite of his name. Never chasing glory and always depressing, he likes to keep to himself and just skirt by in life. A little bit of a troublemaker as he refuses to go into the Abomination track, the coven that his family has historically always been a part of, Luci just wants to live whatever short life he was to the fullest. And that means that school, to him, is a waste of time. He's actually in danger of being held back a year but not because of his grades, his attendance record is absolutely horrendous, barely making the minimum required days and always found in the library instead. He's surprisingly studious, always having his head stuck in books, especially if they're about wild magick. He knows its a banned topic for a reason but life is short and one day he will be nothing more than another nameless face on a blank mortuary so who cares? If he dies then he does so a little wiser than he was a few moments ago.

Tracks:
Bard and Healing

Palisman:
Alecto the Axolotl

Password:
Don't misunderstand him, Luci is just trying to get by in this world

Other:
Actually... likes the Collector? Great conversation companion and the amount of knowledge that could be gleaned from an omnipotent deity? Endless!
His instrument of choice is a French Horn but sometimes desperate times calls for desperate measures so he carries a cheap plastic Kazoo around too

Hwa woke up with a bang, the loud noise startling them out of their slumber. Exchanging nervous glances with Seyoung who too had been rudely jolted out of his slumber, the siblings glanced warily at the door. A second round of harsh banging made the old creaky wood shudder under the force and Hwa jumped to hug close to Seyoung, both of them keeping their eyes on the door. They whimpered, heart crawling up an already tight throat, as the door shuddered again and Seyoung stood up, gently extracting himself from their grip. "Don't worry, it's probably just a sheep or something." He suggested with a smile, gently patting her head before moving towards the door. Opening it up, he was met with two Peacekeepers, one who's hand was already raised to knock again. Both sibling's eyes widened at the sight but they barely had enough time to even process it before the fist was coming down again, cracking against the side of Seyoung's head.

A shrill scream pierced through the grungy hut, a limp body crumpling over the entry way and the slow spread of red mixing in with the rusted dirt. Booted feet stepped over the downed body of Seyoung, advancing towards the only other occupant in the room. "No! No, no no, get away from me! Young-ah! Get up! Please!" Oh deities above, Hwa could feel tears gathering along their lash-line, threatening to spill over as they ducked underneath grabbing hands and past long legs. Blinking furiously to dispel their swimming vision, they fell to their knees beside Seyoung and shook his shoulders. "Come on, you have to get up. You can't just... Let go! Stop! We did nothing wrong!" Struggling against the hands that gripped her arms much too forcefully, Hwa was dragged out sobbing onto the streets, reaching out desperately even if they knew that Seyoung wasn't dead, just unconscious but that didn't stop the fear from lancing through her body.

Swinging from the grip like a ragdoll, Belphi yawned, cracking a red eye open, no weird black possession lingering within those sleepy eyes. Merping like a cat, he went right back to sleep looking for all intents and purposes to actually look more content to be sleeping upside-down. Honestly half of the reason why he was so sleepy was that dealing with others was just such a hassel, sleeping was just... easier.

Belphi's face scrunched up at the ink, one vaguely clawed hand coming up to paw at the offending material. It really did look, for one second, that he was about to wake up as he groaned. His eyebrows furrowed before rolling over with a snore. "Fwuu pdado dun wan eaa wweeer stffff...." He mumbled very intelligently, a true sermon to behold. And all who heard it was enlightened. But not like that stupid Goddess the humans were all so obsessed about, no. Ew. That was gross actually. Instead Belphi did what he did best. Go back to sleep.

It had been a while since the creature had last been out. It was a lonely lonely existence to only see the world through another set of eyes but it would enjoy the view behind closed eyelids whenever it could. But my, this poor demon had gone through quite some wear and tear. He had almost been destroyed by silly humans too! How exciting. Dying by human hands was always vexing but the learning experiences that it provided was exhilarating. Who was that silly little creature that had knocked them out? How had they done it? There was some sort of pressure in the skull and it could still feel the blood sluggishly dripping from the ears so perhaps some sort of sound waves? Further research would definitely be needed going forward.

The moment Aster hit Belphi's head, the demon stopped and glanced at him with those soulless eyes. "Oh good. You're up." It intoned before the body pitched forward like a marionette who's stings had been cut. Crumpling onto the ground, Belphi bounced off the ground almost like he was made out of rubber (which was objectively kind of funny actually) before rolling on the floor with a soft snore. Fast asleep, just like his name implied. Whoever, or whatever had been puppeting his body was no longer there.

Sometimes being the demon of sloth and exhaustion was wholly annoying. Plagued with narcoleptic tendencies and persistent exhaustion wasn't fun even if everyone viewed you as lazy and nothing better than that. But sometimes. Just sometimes. It was worth it.

Almost like an animated doll, Belphi was dragged upwards, loose-limbed as blank black sclera stared unseeing at what was before him. It was unsettling to see a demon of all things be puppeted so easily as he took a lazy look around. Blood poured sluggishly out of his ears as he watched despondently, body dragged over to where Aster had collapsed, kneeling down beside him. Belphi didn't seem too concerned with the other humans that were undoubtedly watching him as he checked on Aster. Unfortunately still alive, he concluded, letting his heavy eyelids flutter shut. Picking the other demon up and throwing him over his shoulder, Belphi turned to the other humans and gave them a very gracious approximation of a smile, all teeth and no cheer. "Sleep" The being suggested, much more awake than Belphi ever was as the power of such a simple word rippled throughout the base, the birds that had foolishly stayed behind outside in the woods falling victim to it. Satisfied with what had been done, the entity simply left without a single backward glance, feet never once touching the ground.

Stumbling into the room, Yahui was caught by his twin who shares worried looks between them. This was their chance. If they just let things play out, there was a large chance that they could free themselves from the burden of being royalty, of being something that neither of them wanted to be. If they let the killer murder the queen then they could claim that it had traumatized them so bad that they weren't fit to rule anymore. But it wasn't anything that they wanted. People dying just so they could get a chance at living the life they wanted? Perhaps Father's teachings hand influenced them too much but they were going to earn their freedom their own way. If they conversely found the killer, they could get on the Queen's good side and request to simply live as peasants without any worries, disappearing quietly. And that started with getting out of this damned room. It probably wasn't going to work, but Yahui tested the door just to see, already trying to think of what the trick to this task could be. These things were never as it seemed

Mara for their part walked to the windows to see if they would open, while taking stock of the atmosphere of the room. They would have to socialize though, as getting into their heads and analyzing who could be the potential killer was going to be a necessity. To access that level of information though, a deep secret hidden that no one would ever want to show, was going to be difficult. Years of work would be needed, almost impossible within the constraints of such a stressful situation where everyone was bound to be suspicious of each other. Gods, just thinking about it was making Mara's head spin as they tested the windows.

"Please be quiet, I detest it when mice think its in their place to squeak at a higher being." Belphi intoned, not really minding the ruckus that Mei was kicking up (hah). "Besides, I'm just a lazy good-for-nothing doing his job. I'm sure you understand that's how it works, considering the type of vermin you are. Now, I'd appreciate it if you all just went to Sle-" Before he could even finish, an annoying hum that had only been present in the background began to grow, making him shiver and shake, head twitching as it tried to comprehend what was going on. The sound only grew and grew, pressing against his head as it felt like his insides were attempting to escape out of his body. It was uncomfortable, verging on painful but it was only the smallest of his worries as Belphi realized he couldn't move. He was just stuck there, standing listlessly while he attempted to track down the source of that horrid noise that wouldn't stop and only kept growing louder and louder. His eyes darted around, trying to locate who the isolate vermin was but only spotted the damned dog that Aster had mentioned before and saw a hand on the canine's head. "There you are..." He thought before his eyes rolled into the back of his head and the demon collapsed into a heap onto the floor, unconscious.

Ugh, Aster just had to rain on his parade huh. And who the Hell was this human to speak his name? Oh well, he could work with being an asshole for a change. "Oops, jig's up." He sneered, the pitiful act sliding off his face in an instant confirming Nox's worries. But soon they'd had much more pressing things to worry about as Belphi threw the the bait at the group of humans hoping to send them tumbling like bowling pins, turning around to slam the door shut. Just as he reached the door, he saw Athena speeding away and grit his teeth at the thought of prey escaping. Before he could do anything though, Athena was gone and far outside his range. "Let it go!" He advised Aster, voice dropping into a low growl at the thought of all the energy he would have to use chasing her down. "These cockroaches always come back for its friends. As long as we have the rest under our heel, that maggot will come crawling back in hopes to save them. Now come on. There's a certain purple rat I saw who I suppose is your real target."

Belphi stared slack-jawed at the door that bodily pushed him out of the house, rattling right in front of his nose. Well that wasn't expected at all, and he whipped his head around to see what could have possibly tipped them off that there was something off when Aster's leering face from the shadows stared right back at him. "Holy f-" The screech that ripped itself from his throat wasn't an act in any way shape or form, the shock of seeing his accomplice so close stopped his pounding heart before it began making its escape from his chest. Perhaps it was a good thing as right at the moment the door he had been leaning against was thrown open again and one of the silly little humans leapt out to face Aster. Well, Belphi certainly wasn't going to waste this opportunity and turned tail to run into the house. Reaching out a hand, he did brush against the cockroach's back, a wave of exhaustion crashing into Athena's body.

Fleeing into the house, he let tears fall from his eyes as he looked at the humans. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I'm sorry I didn't mean to I swear I didn't mean to." He wailed, pleading for them to believe him. "Please, just take Lori, I can lure the other demon away. I know you don't trust me but please just save her and I'll leave."

Belphi was about to knock on the door again when it suddenly opened up from under his hands and he nearly pitched forward, stumbling into the door frame. The moment he did so, everyone in the room was struck with a sense of... tiredness. Not too bad, just a realization that they probably hadn't rested in a good few days. But it was insignificant when the occupants of the room realized who-or what was at their door. His eyes were swimming with pain and hysteria, glasses rim broken with only small shards of the original glass hanging on for dear life exposing his red eyes. Even his horns, normally not very worthy of note, was scuffed and chipped in places. This was in all the ways that mattered a demon who was, for lack of a better word, pathetic. "Please, you have to help my friend. We- I was stupid. I thought they wouldn't chase me b-but." Gently sliding Lorelei off his back and cradling her gently, Belphi gazed up at the gathered cockroaches. One, two, three, four... four little pests all gathered around. "Please... you have to help her. I-i don't care if you kill me afterwards but you have to help Lori. She's a human, like you and I'll do anything if you can save her." His voice cracked as he choked on the last few words, hands trembling as he held the delirious still body. If he strained his ears, Belphi could hear Aster stalking towards the house and he let himself shed a few tears for their impending doom.

"Yes, well thank the goddess that there are still intelligent types so that you baboons don't run headfirst into your deaths." Belphi sighed, ruffling his hair to keep it disheveled. Eyeing the base wearily, a silly thought entered his brain and really, who was he to deny himself some fun. If anyone back in Hell heard about it, they would probably bust a kidney laughing their sides off, but hey. It would be funny.

"Hey Aster," Trying to conceal his shaking shoulders, Belphi gently taped Aster's shoulder. "Tag, you're it." Sticking his bifurcated tongue out almost childishly, he hiked the bait up on his back before taking off running into the forest. He was loud and noisy, purposefully crashing and running into trees, boots crunching under fallen twigs and breaths coming out ragged. It was so easy to draw attention to himself, bundling the exhaustion and bone deep tiredness around his shoulders like a familiar blanket. His foot struck out and slammed against a sturdy trunk of a poor unfortunate tree, making the wood shudder and groan while Belphi let out his own blood curdling scream to start their hunt.

Stumbling out of the woods, bruised and a little bloody, Belphi gasped for breath as he quickly approached the bunker. Slamming his fists against the door, Blehpi looked behind him as terror rose up in his throat. "Help, is anyone there?! Please help her! M-my friend, we- I-Someone, please!"

The unexpected compliment towards a Rat of all things was surprising but that was pale in comparison to the follow up accusation. He knew the question would pop up eventually but this quickly was slightly unexpected. He had guessed that it would come after the hunt but he could work with this as well. But the real question became: should Belphi lie of tell the truth? Because the truth was embarrassing and required a whole backstory to it which was annoying in of itself. But lying meant weaving himself a web in which he would tangle himself to keep invisible, the horrendous amount of effort it took to maintain false truths also exhausting. So instead, he settled on a compromise.

"Did you know," he began slowly, "that this is the first time in ten years that I've been awake? All of my little sleeping spells have lasted maybe 3 years at most, but this time it was almost triple that time. Things change in 10 years and I knew none of it. How am I supposed to work as the Head of Intelligence when everything has changed to the point of being a stranger? So yes. This cockroach is bait but not to exterminate the other vermin. For information. Knowledge. And maybe a bit of bloodshed." There. A half truth, believable enough to sate any curiosity yet leaving out enough details. No mentions of the Goddess who refused to tell him anything, nothing of his petty anger, nothing. Because in a way, what he said was the truth. How was he expected to do anything when every piece of information he had was outdated?

Narrowing his eyes, Belphi stared at Asters back suspicious at why the other was so damn energetic. Was he usually like this? Did he sleep for so long that someone replaced the Aster that he had heard about with a puppy? Whatever, he could appreciate that the other was walking slower though, carrying around extra weight was such a pain to do. Shifting the bait again, he picked up the pace eager to get this thing done and over with.

As they walked, Belphi began to formulate his plan. He would have to pretend to be pitiful enough to save one single human and earn the wrath of the Goddess as a result. What would he go with, his family was mean to him so he could relate with enslaved humans? He took pity on these brainless creatures for being so weak and pathetic that he could only try and see what happens? So many options, each more idiotic and embarrassing than the next. But... well he didn't have to think too hard, right? Simple was best and he could be a convincing enough actor. Probably. He hadn't actually acted in front of anyone before so he'd see how it goes. If anything, at least this will give him the chance to get close enough to work his magic.

"By the way, who was the rat that bit you? Tell me and I'll save it for you to pick apart." He called out absentmindedly, rolling over different plans in his head. If they were going to trash that nest apart, then they'd all have their fill of the hunt but Aster seemed particularly incensed by that particular cockroach. Belphi could let him at it as a treat, he supposed.

It was like watching a dog get all excited for a walk. Kind of pathetic but adorable. Only if you were the owner of said dog. Which Belphi was decidedly not. Goddess, this was going to be exhausting and Belphi could already feel himself drifting off. He barely fended off a yawn as he started walking. "Well, glad to hear it I suppose. You'll have to lead the way though. I'm not the one with a freakishly good nose." Hefting the bait a bit higher, he coaxed answers out of the delirious little cockroach who's name was apparently Lorelei so there was that. Belphi could remember that, if only because he needed the information for the frankly convoluted plan that they had. It was going to be such a hassle to actually pull off

Raising an eyebrow at how easy it was to goad the other into admitting weakness, wasn't Aster usually much more prideful than this, Belphi muled over what the other said. A human who blended in with the shadows seemed interesting enough and even subconsciously, Belphi licked his lips at the thought. Ah, but it also sounded like so much work and if Aster was already injured, he didn't want to take too many chances. "Hnn, tell you what let's compromise." He counter offered. "I deliver this thing to their doorstep - the poor human who lay forgotten on Belphi's back was rudely jostled, drawing a low moan from the thing- and say something about 'oh no a big bad demon is chasing us help' and we can strike from two fronts. We both get our fun that way."
