"Admin gave it to me, he says it's an Electric-Type," Felix explained. "I'm not sure what it's gonna be but it should be pretty helpful for the Water-Type gym, with most of my current team being Fire-Types." Felix woke up at the Pokémon Center in Turffield, where he had stayed for the night. He stretched and looked around the small room, quickly checking on all his sleeping Pokémon. Junior's tail was burning brightly and Amy was muttering in her sleep as usual, but Spins seemed oddly still...

Felix panicked for a moment, but after making sure that she was still breathing, he fell into a more confused kind of concern. He was used to seeing Spins sprawled out and rolling around in her sleep, but here she was curled up, perfectly still apart from the rise and fall of her chest and the occasional ear twitch. Maybe it was because of her evolution?

After checking his Rotom Phone for any important announcements (of which there were none), Felix got up and got dressed for the day. "Maybe I should ask Admin for his phone number..." he thought out loud.

Felix left the Pokémon Center feeling strangely energised, his newly evolved Raboot on his shoulder.

(OOC: Sorry for the absence, spent the afternoon at my grandmother's house for Christmas)

Felix's legs started to feel like jelly as he walked out onto the pitch, the cheering crowd making his anxiety rise. He stared at the ground as he turned to face Milo.

"Nervous?" the farmer asked, quiet enough that the crowd wouldn't pick up on it. Felix nodded. "Don't worry," Milo reassured him. "The main point of the Gym Challenge is just to have fun! Don't worry about the crowd and just focus on your Pokémon, okay?"

Felix nodded again, stroking Spins' ears as she sat perched on his shoulder. With that, he and Milo moved to the ends of the pitch and the battle began.

First up was Milo's Gossifleur. After having used Junior a lot for the Gym Mission, Felix decided to give him a break and have Amy take on Gossifleur. Her acid chipped away at Gossifleur's health, but Amy found herself taking a lot of damage too. After a particularly hard hit, Felix called out to her.

"Amy! Can you keep battling?"

"Tox!" she replied determinedly, readying another attack. Gossifleur sent another Rapid Spin her way, but she managed to jump out of the way and hit Gossifleur with a point-blank Acid, knocking out the Grass-Type.

Amy ran over to Felix, smiling. "Toxel tox!"

"You did it!" he replied, picking her up into a hug. Surprisingly, she didn't pull away, continuing to cheer about her victory, only stopping to flinch from pain.

"Take a break," Felix said, retrieving Amy to her Poké Ball before turning to the Scorbunny perched on his shoulder. "You ready Spins?"

Spins cheered and jumped down, running out onto the field and shouting challengingly to Milo.

"Alright! Let's go Eldegoss!" Milo commanded, throwing out his final Pokémon. Immediately he held out the Poké Ball, which lit up along with his Dynamax band. He threw the enlarged Poké Ball behind him and Eldegoss grew to a huge size.

Felix began to feel nerves again. He'd never used Dynamax before, what if he did it incorrectly? What if something went wrong? What if he messed it up and somebody got hurt-

He snapped out of his anxiety when Spins hugged his leg, shouting at him.

"Spins?"

"Bun bun!" Spins exclaimed, jumping back and spinning around. Felix smiled, realising what she was trying to say.

"Thanks," he pulled out Spins' Poké Ball. "Alright, ready to Dynamax?"

"Scor!"

Seconds later, Spins towered over Felix, ready to battle.

Felix wasted no time utilising Spins' superior speed. "Use Flame Charge!"

Spins ran forward, coated in flames. Eldegoss sent a Magical Leaf flying towards her, but most of the leaves were burned up in the flames and the few that made contact didn't deter the Scorbunny. She slammed into Eldegoss.

"Do it again!"

Eldegoss had little time to react due to the first Flame Charge having increased Spins' speed, taking another super effective hit.

"Use Round!"

Spins ran forward for another Flame Charge, but was thrown back by a powerful Round from Eldegoss. She fell to the ground, taking a lot of damage.

"Spins, are you alright?!"

Spins sat up and ran forward again, but was knocked backwards by another Round. She kept trying to get close again, but was pushed away by Round after Round.

"S-scor..."

"Spins! Don't give up!"

Spins turned back to Felix and nodded, determination in her eyes. She looked back to Eldegoss and pushed forwards, starting to glow. When the glow faded, a Raboot stood in her place.

The boost in power that evolution had provided allowed Spins to push through the Round and slam into Eldegoss with a super powerful Flame Charge, knocking out the Grass-Type.

Spins jumped back as the Dynamax wore off, landing in front of Felix. She was scuffed up, her fur a mess and out of breath, but behind the bit of fur covering most of her mouth, Felix could see her smiling.

Felix barely heard the crowd cheering for him as he ran forward to Spins. "Spins! You did it, you were amazing!"

"Boot!" Spins replied, jumping into her trainer's waiting arms.

After leaving Turffield Stadium, Grass Badge in hand, Felix had to sit down for a bit. That battle...so much had happened, it was insane, it was so fun but also so exhausting and he technically wasn't even the one fighting. He looked at his Raboot, who was taking a nap in the grass in front of him with Amy lying across her chest and Junior watching them both. He was proud of them all.

With all his Pokémon around level 13-14, Felix decided to give the Grass Gym a shot. He wasted no time getting to Turfield and challenging the gym.

His team was a little bit under-leveled, but with two Fire-Types and one Poison-Type, he didn't struggle much to get through the Gym Mission. He had just defeated the final Gym Trainer when Junior started to glow.

"Char! Char!" Junior exclaimed, panicked. He ran around and shook himself until the glowing eventually went away.

"Junior, are you alright?" Felix asked, running over to the Charmander.

"Char..." Junior replied, shaking slightly as Felix picked him up.

"It's okay if you're not ready to evolve yet," Felix said, petting his head. He reached into his bag and pulled out an everstone on a string and put it around Junior's neck as a makeshift necklace. "This should keep you from evolving until you're ready."

Junior smiled up at Felix. "Char!"

Having resolved that, Felix stepped forward into the stadium for the main battle.
