Ahh, Riganois Academy, another one of those magical schools which seem to pop up around the land, each one more prestigious and dangerous than the last. Oh, but Riganois just might be the last. Hmm, what was that? I didn't say anything. It's the second last day of school, finals are over and all are celebrating their newfound glory or weeping for their broken dreams. Indeed, Riganois Academy, where all who enter are equal and esteemed, where all who leave either find a distinguised life among the nobility or become obscure rejects of society. Students mill about gathering their things, packing up and getting ready for the long trips back home, or if they're lucky enough, a direct invitation to join the High Court in their summer residence. A light breeze graces the turreted peaks of the campus, floats past the nests of various mystical birds, and dances among the vines of the Illusory Forest. Chatter can be heard everywhere, goodbyes being said, promises of still young hearts and minds made and whispered into the air. There is only one thing left before everyone is left to their respective fates. The Graduation Ball. A tradition which has existed as long as the cracks in the rock of the Lonely Tower, where all the students of Riganois Academy gather for a final night of festivities, starting at midnight of the last day and lasting all the way until dawn. A mere few hours enchanted to feel like days. Some whisper that the Ball holds more secrets than elders can tell, that it conceals lies beneath its sparkling exterior, and that this year, something is stirring in its blazing core. Nono, there's no need to worry at all! Just enjoy the Ball, and your only concern will be what comes afterwards. Riganois Academy Rules (Never to be broken lest risking expulsion) ![]() 1. All PH
rules apply.
2. Please make balanced characters with reasonable weaknesses. (Said weaknesses will totally not be exploited later on) 3. Keep your character consistent, any character development should be explained. 4. Include appropriate trigger warnings/censor profanity. 5. Two characters per person for now. 6. Try to write with good grammar and detail. 7. The right is reserved by the Headmaster to change/remove/add any rules. 8. Do not exploit loopholes. The Houses of Riganois ![]() Banarit - The Daring
Those in the House of Banarit are steadfast, strong and brave. They are often described as impulsive and hotheaded, but their unwavering loyalty and strength is what makes them a proud House. (Notes by the distracted student - Some whisper that Banarit has a gruesome history, and that their members crave blood, but those must just be legends made up to scare First Years.) Selineile - The Cunning Like a trickling stream, like a dancing butterfly, we of House Selineile are the most graceful and elegant of all the houses. Join us if you think you are able to prove yourself as refined as those in our tight circle, those who are quick in both movement and tongue. (It is said that while Selineile Houses the wittiest and most agile of Riganois, their students are often seen lazing around with friends. It is also wise for the less experienced to avoid them on their first day.) Lavetiara - The Enchanted Watch as dawn breaks, watch as birds fly, watch as flower petals gently settle. The Enchanted House of Lavetiara sparkles with a soft light, waiting and holding its breath for the next mystical student to join its ranks. (Lavetiara, the House of the beautiful Laneis, oh how I wish she would just look at me... The most magical yet kindest House of all, perfect in their own gentle aura.) Or are they really so kind? The Ranking System of Riganois ![]() Perhaps
the most important thing of all, what determines your standing
within Riganois.
The students of Riganois are split into Ranks based on their performance during the entirety of the year. They are awarded points in the form of Crystals for exceptional performance, and the ten students with the most Crystals are known as the Elite, a circle almost no one else can have hopes of joining. Those with just slightly less are the Diamonds, glittering above and very desirable. Next are the average students, the Gemstones, who enjoy splitting themselves into groups with names of their own choosing. Finally, the Shadows, the forgotten bottom feeders who have lost all their Crystals due to bad behaviour and who no one wants to be seen with. The Student Records of Riganois ![]() Name:

Did Jack get it? She didn't dare hope... But even so, the clouds dissipated just a little. Yet she wasn't sure she could find anything useful. She'd been trying for the past... Ogd knows how long. And still, there was nothing. A blank space where there should be a well of information, however shallow. A feeling of awareness of what she was trying to find, yet being unable to fully grasp it. But even as she hissed in frustration, a few bits and pieces seemed to weave in and out of existence. Anger. She could use it as a fuel. A rope. A lasso. A net, even. In a burst, she channeled all her frustrations, disappointment, anger, into grabbing even the tiniest shard of memory. Suddenly, there came a complete memory, perfectly whole and found. It was a darkly lit hallway. She crouched, ear to the rusting, locked keyhole, straining to hear the whispering voices of the nobles gathered inside. "Masquerade... Evil organisation kidnapping people..." The voices lower, and her past self squeezed against the door to listen. "Slave auction... Elizabeth's son and Edward's daughter are missing..." The voices lower even further, and she had to be careful not to accidentally break the rotting wood of the door with her pushing against it. Yes, she recognised the place. The secret meeting facilities under the castle, used only to discuss top secret issues which were extremely sensitive, or at least those the screamish aristocrats thought were so. The facilities weren't really kept in good condition, having also served as emergency hospitals, dungeons, and even interrogation chambers. "Lots of priceless treasures were also stolen... Yes yes... We must investigate..." Then a voice, stronger and firmer than the rest spoke up. "A member was caught by my guard. A young boy, unusually strong for his age, a traitor, used to be one of my elite soldiers. He was throughly interrogated, and he revealed one of the locations the supposed slave auctions are being held. An abandoned weapons factory just south of the marshes. He also told us, in a fit of desperate glory, that the organisation has many members under disguise, mainly as adolscents." She couldn't hear it then, but she knew that a series of titters were going around the room, as well as hushed whispers. After all, the owner of the voice didn't have the best reputation. "Thank you... We will investigate... This meeting is dismissed..." Sounds of people rising heavily and shuffling footsteps could be heard. She sprinted away, leaped up the slippery stone stairs, and weaved through the maze of the castle into her room. That was it. She was slightly disappointed. The memory was old and outdated, and if the Masquerade was smart enough, and they most definitely were, they would already have moved out, very likely having removed all traces of evidence. The fact that there were traitors among them was something they'd already learned the hard way. "I've got something. The Masquerade used to use an old weapons factory south of the Rotting Marshes as a slave auctioning venue." [Read more] |

No. She didn't understand. She would never understand. They would never understand. Maybe it was a mixture of self-disappointment, confusion, and complicated backstory, but Athena was quickly straying from the land of reason into the trenches of emotion. Not good enough, second best, not actually contributing to the plotline... She stalked after Jack, not bothering to conceal her emotions, a dark cloud gathering above her head, literally. It was cold. Quiet. And most notably, completely dark. The shadows were tangible, wrapping around your limbs, an inky blackness threatening to drown you. The silence had sound, a suffocating, heavy kind of sound. The air was icy, a dozen frozen fingertips poking at your skin. Yet you could feel hope. Weak, fragile, thin hope. But hope all the same. It radiated from the far end of the cavern. [Read more] |

They turned into flakely white ashes, which floated into a harmless heap on the floor. Still, the rip grew. It seemed to be generating its own gravitational field as well. Skeletons were being sucked into it, only to turn into ashes. [Read more] |

In hindsight, she had pretty much ignored the fact that Jack was standing in the portal. But in her defence, it was always better to be cautious. It seemed the girl and Jack had struck a deal. Unless this was all some elaborate trap and Jack was in league with the Masquerade. But Jack didn't seem like that kind of person... "How can I trust that you two aren't trying to trick me? I do not wish to prolong the rescue of Kendo and Sera, as well as the others who were taken, but I've got to make sure this isn't a trap and I'm not letting the wrong person go." [Read more] |
