They will never be "behind closed doors" as you say.
They may be in places you need level 15 to gain access to, but they'll never be locked behind an item.

You specifically referenced Ancient Caves quests: let's pretend one of your eggs is destined to be under [Random Quest]. You can open the quest page. You will get something to the effect of "you need this item to do this quest; you dont have item". BUT, *your egg will still be on the page*.

So, TL;DR your eggs are not locked behind items. Just open the page and look for eggs. If you dont see one, then there isnt one. I guarantee it will not show up after gaining whatever item the quest needs.

I guarantee it isnt bugged. Raiko is right, not all possible pages are listed as links *AND* the hardest 1-2 eggs are on pages people dont think to check because "well that CANT be one" or they dont even realize its ~technically~ a different page.

How do I know this?

I found one egg on a page that i didnt realize was a different page. Main page? Linked on maps. That's page? Not because I (and those listing maps) just thought it was like tabs within one page.
I found my last egg on a page I never thought to check because I didnt think it was a thing--i literally found it on accident. And guess what: it ALSO was not listed.

The last few are MEANT to be VERY difficult to find on purpose.

@Kendrawr well good thing I wasnt referring to you, but the person who got 15 eggs and was wondering they missed clicking something.

We will get our prizes for creating the eggs in a few days. There was a comment made on the contest forum about it.

I can testify from both my own personal account that not all locations are on maps. I both found my hardest one on a page that was not actually listed. The last 1-2 will be very difficult, but if you go slowly and literally click everything possibly (not just everything that seems reasonble), you WILL find it! I believe in you guys. :)

Title: Just an FYI

Just so you guys know, if you need an item to access an area (the example I'm referring to is Giratina's quest and etc), you dont need the item to get the egg. Just open the page. Itll say something to the effect of "you need this thing to do the thing" BUT IF YOUR EGG IS GOING TO BE THERE, IT WILL STILL SHOW UP! So woo! Dont need all sorts of fancy bits to get it. Same applies to a lot of things. You can get the link to get there and itll say "you dont have. No" but you can still scan the page for the egg.
