Title:
Where would you like to go?

I love my job…

I live in the colorful Emera town.
I get to do things that make my life amazing!
I have the power to annihilate any frown,
And send you places, tranquil or hair-raising.

Of the places I watch over, most have no restriction.
But some can only be accessed by chosen ones.
For only those with destiny can face legendary jurisdiction,
Or be able to eat frozen buns.

Camp at a forest, surf at the beach,
Test your mettle at the local haunted house.
Or if perilous excitement is what you seek,
Check out the fire that is impossible to douse.

You can dive into deep space or get a tan,
You may even occasionally find hidden treasure.
But do visit me when you can..
Showing you around would be my pleasure.

Like corn kernels stuck to a cob,
I never stumble.
I absolutely love my job.
The name is Rambo Rumble.

Where would you go? Choose wisely.

Title: O Emera Town!

Poem:

I wander through our town's centre

Near where the fountain hoards our wishful gold

And see in every face I encounter

A joy that must be seen not told

In every smile of every trainer

In every Pokemon's cry of wonder

In every game, in every endeavour

The harmony of our peaceful town, I remember

O how the Noctowl's cry

Sends the very stars dancing upon the sky

And how the prices the Gem Collector calls

Sends trainers running for plushies at Emera Mall

But though the seasons must still pass

Bringing new events, and Riako's changes to the Tall Grass;

Day by day we citizens refrain:

No other town could we ever love the same

Third Place: Chewydabacca, ImperialHound, Jacharias

Title: An introduction to emera town

Every day the great rayquaza looks down,
At the famous emera town.

Every day, people spend enough pokedollar to make a mountain,
Throwing them in the rigged emera fountain.

If you stay long enough you may find,
A random Legendary Pokémon sneaking up from behind.

I pondered and wonder,
Why do trainers send their Pokémon rumbling in any weather,
Rain, sun, wind or thunder?
Now I know, It’s all to get a galar bird feather.

In emera town, the challenge is enhance(d),
With it’s extremely low shiny chance.

Next we go to see the los seashellos waiter,
Where he charges 10 dollars for a glass of water.
What a scam!
I’m not a fan.
(But I buy it anyway.)

Reading this, you may think I dislike this town all the way.
But I don’t. For its home. And we love it either way.

What do I see?

A tiny sparkling coin in the water below me

Where does it come from?
Who puts it there?
I need to know who
And why and when

I sit on a perch, waiting for something
Here comes a human! What is he doing?

He’s throwing the coin and muttering something
With a loud splash, nothing has happened
He walked away promptly
Looking so saddened

What was the point?
Throwing coins in the water?
What was to happen
Mysterious humans

The next day arrived
And so did the human
He threw in a coin
And muttered again

Splash!
A glimmer of light
Something had happened
He filled with delight

I followed him home
Where he sat with some eggs

His whole party hatched
A shiny mega at last
“My wish came true, I’m finally free!”

I finally knew
The fountain makes wishes come true

My Trainer Life

Getting my first starter Pokémon today..
I can't help but to celebrate.
I wonder what I will say..
The experiences that we will create.

Off to that Prof. Rowan's Lab, I go.
Picking from types of grass, water or fire..
Which one would be best for me though?
But, I'll be happy whatever Pokémon I acquire.

Finally, grabbed a Pokémon from there..
Whoa. My very first Pokémon.. amazing!
Prof. Rowan said to take care..
This feeling is so exhilarating!

I was taught of some basics.
Be careful of the Tall Grass..
Numbers that are lower than six?
Old man that gives you sass.

Interacting with a lot of people
So, my eggs can hatch faster.
Doing this, makes my fingers tremble..
Especially, if these interactions takes longer.

Then, a Ducklett asked for some grapes..
For a juice, that he's gonna make.
I wished that it's recorded in videotapes.
Lots of PokéDollars, that video will rake..

Hello Everyone,

PokeHeroes will be hosting its third writing contest! This time around we are changing it up a bit.
Think about your life if you were living in Emera Town. Sitting outside under the bright sky or staring out the window of a building. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you see? The environment brings inspiration for many forms of Poetry. So, for this contest the format will be in the shape of a poem.

The theme for this Poetry contest is: Our Emera Town

It can be through the eyes of a human or the eyes of a Pokemon. Each side has a different view of the same world that they live in. Pokemon many have their own stories and adventures to tell in Emera Town, while humans may have their own side as well. Pick a side and create a poem that expresses the endless possibilities that exist with Emera Town. From the surrounding forests, to the beach, the lab, and even the Royal Tunnel or Ancient Cave.

Requirements

- The Poem must have a title [The title doesn't count as part of the word count.]
- You may submit only 1 poem.
- Each poem can be up to 150 words
- Keep the poems appropriate for all ages, don't go excessive with blood, guts, gore, language, ect. If you do then your poem won't be read or considered in the contest.
- Poems must be original and created from scratch by the member, don't take someone else's work and submit it as your own.

Prizes

There will be top three prizes for the stories entered.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place stories will get a flute combo pack (blue + black)

There will also be a consolation prize of 500 event points for everyone who participates in the contest.

Deadline

The deadline for submitting your poem is: October 2nd
The poems will be read and reviewed by us the staff and the finalist will be chosen.

FAQ

- How do I submit my poem to you?
A. You can create your poem in a separate program like Microsoft word and then copy and paste it as a PM message and send it directly to me (SilverLugia456)
- What if we are a few words over the word limited from the Requirements?
A. We do allow submissions that may be a few words over but if you have a poem over 160 words + then try to trim it down more. Word counts of 150-155 is fine.

Thanks for reading and we the staff look forward to reading the poems that you create. ^_^

Hello Everyone,

PokeHeroes will be hosting its second writing contest! There was such a great response to the first writing contest and many participants anticipated when a second one would be held. I'm glad that everyone joined the first contest and now we have a new one for members to participate in.

Every wonder what it would be like if you could visit Emera Town even if it was just for a nice summer day? The theme for this writing contest is: A Day in Emera Town.

What would you do if you were a trainer in Emera Town? Do you have any favorite locations you would like to visit? Any residents you would want to spend your day with? Tell a story through your own eyes on what you would do if you had a chance to spend one day in Emera Town. It doesn't need to just stop at a location either. PokeHeroes hosts contests, rumble missions, and various other activities that you could focus your story on.

Requirements

- You may submit only 1 story.
- Each story can be up to 500 words (so a short flash fiction story)
- Keep the stories appropriate for all ages, don't go excessive with blood, guts, gore, language, ect. If you do then your story won't be read or considered in the contest.
- Stories must be original and created from scratch by the member, don't copyright something else offsite or from another member.

Prizes

There will be top three prizes for the stories entered.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place stories will get a flute combo pack (blue + black)

There will also be a consolation prize of 500 event points for everyone who participates in the contest.

Deadline

The deadline for submitting your story is: June 21st
The stories will be read and reviewed by us the staff and the finalist will be chosen.

FAQ

- How do I submit my story to you?
A. You can create your story in a separate program like Microsoft word and then copy and paste it as a PM message and send it directly to me (SilverLugia456)
- What if we are a few words over the word limited from the Requirements?
A. We do allow submissions that may be a few words over but if you have a story that is 530 words + then try to trim it down more. Word counts of 501-510 is fine.
- What if my story doesn't fit in one PM when I send it to you?
Your story should be able to fit in one PM when you send it but if by some chance it doesn't then let me know in the first pm that the story continues to a second one and then send it.

Thanks for reading and we the staff look forward to reading the stories that you create. ^_^

"Piplup's Summer Vacation,"

What a lovely change of pace! I couldn’t suppress my grin as I ambled through the little, bustling town of Emera.

It was a beautiful summer day, warmer than even the hottest days back home in Sinnoh. It would be a short trip, and this was my day for sightseeing. Almost bursting at the seams to see it all, I ambled through the main throughway. I dipped my fingers in the iconic Emera Fountain, stopping to allow Piplup, my first partner, the opportunity to splash in the refreshing water. Pip, ever the adventurer, wasted no time diving in. His tiny face and sparkling eyes made me even happier than the wildflowers springing up around the base of the fountain and the lively chatter floating through the summer air.

“C’mon, Pip, let’s head out!” I removed the ball from my pocket, ready to recall my azure friend, but his piercing, stubborn cry halted me.

“PIIIIIIIIIIP!”

A few passersby glanced over, possibly concerned about the source of the sound. I smiled apologetically at a young man with a Growlithe in his arms, who had paused to make sure everything was alright.

“Piplup, there’s a whole town to see here! Let’s go!” Piplup resignedly hopped out of the fountain and shook out his downy feathers, sending a spray of mist spiraling up into the surrounding air. “Let’s see the rest of the sights, alright?” I coaxed, aiming for at least some general amiability from my stubborn, tiny partner.

A cup of ice cream from the Los Seashellos Restaurant was all it took to appease my little companion, or so I thought. We made it to the mall, perusing shop after shop. Many of the items here were entirely new to me, and I pressed my fingers to a glass display case containing Summer Mareep eggs. I had only ever seen one sort of Mareep, and while I knew they were occasionally pink instead of yellow, I’d never seen anything quite like the sandy, yellow-orange little creatures shown in the picture. I was just about to ask for the price when I noticed Piplup was no longer at my side. All thoughts of sandy-orange Mareep left my mind as I dashed out of the shop and peeked into the mall’s hallway. No bird in sight.

Perhaps he’d gotten bored and wandered outside? I skidded through the sliding doors and out into the sunlight. Where had he gone? The fountain!, I thought suddenly, and dashed back in the direction I had originally come.

Sure enough, as I neared the fountain, I spotted a pair of tiny yellow feet sticking up from the surface of the water. Piplup resurfaced just as I reached the water’s edge, and beamed at me with his proud, contented little face. Worried as I had been, I couldn’t help smiling as he splashed and played.

I may have come to Emera Town for a vacation, but, I supposed, we were going to do things Piplup’s way instead. Fine by me! My journey wouldn’t be my journey without him.

Cynder hummed happily as she walked down the path back to our home, with a satchel attached to her back she clutched onto the pack tightly and took careful steps. It was an early morning, as the sun happened to be hitting her backside - showing that Cynder too, was a ray of early morning sunshine.

“What do you have now?” I curiously asked the impish Typhlosion, her grin showing she was up to her usual mischievous activities.

She responded with a high-pitched sounding “Ty!” as she sauntered passed me, hiding her back to me.

“Cynder! Come back here.” I called out to her as she had already made her way to the base of the stairs. “Cynder, is that what I think it is?”

Her ears perked up, then lowered as the flames on her back spiked up momentarily. She quickly headed to her room as I chased her up there. “You can’t be bringing back this many eggs, Cynd! We’re already taking care of several as it is! We have to take ‘em back to Prof. Rowan!”

Cynder brought her finger up to her eyelid and pulled down, sticking out her tongue at me and beelined out the door with the tightened satchel on her back.

I chased her out of the house, following her full sprint as she ran on all fours. Eggs, tightly secured on her back.

We ran through route 53, where the combees seemed to be(e) as busy as ever with their honeymaking. The Moomoo ranch, was bustling as several miltanks grazed out in the pasture. The tauros seemed to take amusement in our shenanigans as they ran alongside me as I raced after Cynder who was many strides ahead.

We neared Emera Square, where several trainers seemed to be flexing their superior bug-like pokemon. Cynder, zig-zagged through the scyther, heracross, and pinsir trio that seemed to be arguing in their pokemon talk fashion. I ran through, following her similar pathing. “Sorry!” I huffed, nearly at my limit of my yearly workout “Get back here, you flaming honey badger!”

She roared out, flinging flames in front of her as she ran - leaving behind a musty smokescreen to run through as we arrived at Emera Town. I failed to evade the smokescreen as I coughed and huffed my way through it to see Cynder drinking from the fountain. As we made eye contact, her eyes gleamed with delight as she turned and headed into the lab with a quick saunter.

As I arrived inside the lab, I watched as Cynder was tackled by several new pokemon. A scolipede, cubone, and zubat seemed to greet her excitedly.

“Back again so soon? I see those eggs are doing well in your care.” Rowan made his entrance, more eggs in hand.

“Oh, you know us Professor. Just a normal day for Shae and Cynder in Emera Town.” I caught my breath and gave him a small grin. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Welcome to the family, you guys.”

The laughter of young Kecleons filled Stella's ears as she passed the daycare's garden. The daycare owner played hide and seek, but he wasn't the one winning the game. Stella stopped in front of the fountain. "The sparkling coins make it look like a million tiny suns, don't you think so too, Furret?" Her pet put one paw in the water, trying to catch the mysterious sparkles. "Come sis, let's continue to Emera Mall," Dusty, her brother, said. Overjoyed she dragged Furret away from the fountain.

Stella almost bumped into a Furfrou with a star-shaped tail. "Look Furret, maybe you should try that haircut too. It's so cute!" "Careful," said Dusty, "You're hugging Furret so tight it might explode, he's not a plushie!" The Pokémon let out a few cries and Dusty thought he heard a sound of relief when his sister let her friend go.

Upon entering Emera Mall a sweet aroma filled the air. Stella knew all too well where that was coming from and headed straight for the Salon. Wilma, an employee of the Salon, greeted them. "Good day, how may we help you?" Stella pointed to her friend. "Furret trained his Hyper Voice really hard yesterday, so I want to treat him to a bath, please." "Very well, miss. Kindly follow me."

Wilma led them to a pool. "This bath has a nice mix of Oran and Mago berries," she explained, "Just the right balance for healing and relaxation." The woman guided Furret into his bath. The pet squealed of happiness. "Glad to see you like it." She turned to Dusty. "You and your sister are allowed to join Furret. You may also choose to take a seat over there and wait till the bath is over."

"I want to join!" Stella jumped in the water before Dusty could stop her. He groaned. "Ahw, sis, how do I explain your wet clothes to mom and dad? Couldn't you wait for one moment? We did take your bathing suit with us, you know." She giggled. "I'll say I'm sorry, okay? Come in too, the water is great!"

Some beeping sound in the background distracted her. "What was that?" Furret jumped out of the bath, shook the water off his fur and started to stroke Stella's forehead. "Huh, why are you doing that now?" the little girl asked. "I always like it when you do that, but you're the one who should relax, not me."

More beeps were audible. Clouds started to form; the sun disappeared. "I'm here little sister. I love you so much," she heard Dusty say. "Let's go on a rumble adventure tomorrow. You can show me Furret's Hyper Voice." Stella felt sleepy and was unable to respond.

I cried of happiness when I saw the irregular graph at the display of the heart rate monitoring machine. Furret stopped stroking my sister's forehead and uttered excited noises. "I know, Furret. The last time was almost a year ago," I said. "One day she will wake up. I'm sure of it!"

Once again congratulations to all of the winners of the writing contest. ^_^

Sorry for the delay, the winners of the writing contest have been posted! There were so many entries it took a little bit for us staff to go through them and only pick three winners. It was a tough decision.

Thank you everyone who participated.

I will also be looking for feedback from the PokeHeroes community on how to improve these side-wide writing contests for the future when we host our next one.
