Hello! I've recently returned to this game after a long time away, and I'm finally getting around to trying something I've been meaning to for a while, shiny hunting! Problem is, I have no idea how it works, or what the best method is. I don't really care about shiny chains (I also don't have a clear idea about what they are, rip), I just want to get a shiny Pokemon that I can't seem to find in either the Auction House or Global Trade Station.

If someone could give me some advice, or point me to a useful thread, the help would be immensely appreciated!

"I understand that feeling." She said with a chuckle, picking up Ylva who had wandered over to her. "Sometimes I can't believe I ever was entrusted Ylva's egg in the first place and I think it was all a dream, but then I look at her and remember that it actually did happen." She hummed as Ylva let out a happy chirp.

"I'm also sure my people would appreciate that! Much of our tradition is passed down orally after all, and most don't visit the library for our culture because to us it's common knowledge." Najima said with a smile. "We have quite a few temples you can visit to learn more, and we can visit some of the schools so you can talk to a history professor or two if you want." She said as Garlo floated over towards her, nudging her softly and letting out a low croon.

The ghost type adept's pale face flushed in a visible blush, unused to the compliment and attention. "Ah, well my people are quite reserved and well hidden. You see, long ago there where people who seeked to gain immortality, and many turned to my people. We where both revered and feared, some wanting to kill us while others wanted to steal our secrets for their own selfish purposes." She explained solemnly. "My peoples numbers dropped drastically, and fearing we would die, we hid ourselves away." She said before pausing, tilting her head in his direction as if contemplating something.

"However, while we usually do not allow outsiders, I believe I could make an exception for you, if you would like to visit. After all, you have a legend as you companion. That will quickly sway my people as we trust in the legends and their judgment." She said with a nod, turning her head to watch Ienzo interact with her Pokemon with a small smile.

"Ah, well, you're one of the few people that thinks that way. Most people are terrified of ghost Pokemon like Scarlet." Najima explained as Scarlet's orange flames flared happily at his compliments. Gesturing to her Pokemon, she continued.

"Look at my Pokemon, what do you see? Most of my team is either dark type or ghost type, with Jupiter being the exception, and even then he is a fossil Pokemon. I come from a village that specializes in ghost Pokemon or Pokemon with a connection to death, and we worship legends like Yveltal and Giratina." she said. "I can understand ghost types and a bit of dark type speech. In our village we pay respects to ghost Pokemon and we do have quite a few shrines dedicated to them. However most people are terrified at the thought and shy away from us because of it." She said with a soft sigh.

	Najima blinked in surprise at his answer while Scarlet spun around in joy. Oh you are just the sweetest thing! Scarlet said happily, projecting her voice into Marluxia's head with Psychic, unlike before where she had just spoken normally. Thank you dear, I really appreciate it! "Well, uh..." Najima spoke nervously, "Ok, please don't freak out. They, and the rest of their evolution line, eat either meat, or the souls of living creatures." She said, before speaking again very quickly. "But don't worry! It's a completely natural thing and they only feed a little on a soul before leaving so that it can heal. The soul heals quickly and in a few days they'll be fully healed, most of the time not noticing anything different in the first place." She explained quickly, hoping to get it all out and prevent any freakout from occurring.

(Aaaa, sorry for taking a while to respond!)

As Najima chuckled at the others misfortune, Scarlet floated up to her trainer and poked her in the shoulder. Looking over that the shiny, Najima gave her a questioning look. "Is something wrong Scarlet?"

I'm hungry. The Chandelure announced. Of the two humans Najima was the only one who was able to understand her.

"You're always hungry." She said, deadpan.

But I am starving Master! Starving! Scarlet whined.

"First, how many times have I told you you don't need to call me master? And second, you ate an hour ago."

To anyone who din't know her it may seem like Najima was genuinely annoyed, but if one were to look closely they would see the glimmer of amusement in her eyes. This conversation was not a new one between the two, and it was just friendly banter between the trainer and her first Pokemon. The only way Scarlet could satisfy her hunger would be to either eat meat or consume another beings soul, and both of them knew this. Scarlet usually fed off of any wild Pokemon encountered, though not enough to actually harm them. Their souls would repair themselves like an open wound scabbing over and be as good as new within a few days.

Najima laughed. "Well, it looks like we have something in common; being sat on by out Pokemon." she joked, Jupiters head perking up at the word 'sitting'. Seeing the revived Pokemon's expression, she pointed at him and said "No." very sternly.

Lowering his heads, Garlo let out a low chuffing sound of greeting to the legend. It had been a while since they had seen a legendary (Ylva doesn't count) and he respected the power that they had.

"No really, I couldn't tell." Najima snarked jokingly, sarcasm clear in her voice as she shoved Jupiter off of her and stood up, brushing herself off as Ylva climbed onto her shoulder.

"You haven't seen anything yet though." Najima said with a grin. "When other people aren't around Garlo is a huge softie and can't go a day without his pets." She said, much to the dismay of the dark dragon that had been watching the scene. She gained three squawks from him, to which she only responded with a mischievous grin.

"Aww, the all look amazing and extremely healthy!" Najima gushed as she looked over the three Pokemon. "This is also my first time seeing a Belossom! Aww, she's so pretty!"

After she was done fawning over them Najima pulled out three more Pokeballs. "I hope you all don't mind, but I'd like you to meet the rest of my team as well!" In three identical flashes of red light, a Froslass, Mismagius and Archeops emerged. "Dawn is my Froslass, Moro is my Mismagius and Jupiter is my Archeops." As soon as she was done introducing the three she was promptly tackled by Jupiter to the ground in a huge feathery hug. The first bird cooed happily at his trainer while the other members of the party looked on in amusement. Ylva, who had been sitting on Scarlet, hopped off and flopped onto Jupiters fluffy back with a happy chirp, wanting hugs as well.

"Yeah, I don't blame you." she said with a smile "I usually just try to learn on my own. Some of the details in it are pretty farfetch, but they got the Litwick's evolution line right." she said with a shrug before pausing, realization dawning on her.

"Now that I think of it, half my team is pokemon related native to the Unova region." She mused. "I literally just noticed that." she said, amused.

Ylva let out squeaks and chirps of happiness as she was held by Marluxia, and she practically inhaled the berry Corey gave her. He tail was swishing so hard one would start to worry she would dislocate it, and she squealed happily when she was booped on the nose.

Najima chuckled at the small legend. "Well, it seems like I just have an affinity for dangerous Pokemon. I mean, have you read the pokedex entry's for the entire Litwick line?" she hummed, gesturing to Scarlet, who's orange flames brightened for a moment before dulling again.

"Of course you can!" Najima said, smiling at Marluxia before sitting down on the ground and setting the small legend in her lap. "Ylva just loves meeting new people!" As she spoke Ylva had crawled out of her lap and onto the ground. Chirping excitedly, Ylva hopped closer to Marluxia, underdeveloped wings flapping, not strong enough to fly yet. As she made her way over to him she stumbled a few times before regaining her footing and stopping in front of him. Peering up at him, Ylva let out a series of chirps and croons in greeting, small feathers fluffing up in excitement, tail wagging so hard it shook her entire body.

"Like I said before, it's quite alright, and your reactions where understandable." Najima said with a small smile.

Suddenly, from her black bag that laid beside Garlo, something stirred. Ylva, a tiny, baby yveltal, poked her head out of the bag. She let out a large yawn before perking up and chirping in delight, exited at the prospect of meeting the new people and Pokemon that had entered the clearing. Bright blue eyes scanned the new arrivals and she hopped out of the bag she had previously been asleep in. With a small sigh of affection, Najima walked over and scooped up the small legend into her arms, holding her as gently as a mother would her child.

"And this little dear is Ylva. I was entrusted her egg by a yveltal who had been close to death and became dormant, unable to care for her any longer. And she's just been a bundle of sunshine the moment I got her! Isn't that right?" She said, that last part to Ylva who crooned happily, tail swishing behind her.

Stroking Garlo's heads to calm him down, Najima nodded in understanding. "It's alright, I would most likely do the same in your position." she said understandingly with a small smile. Tanking his hand, she introduced herself. "My name's Najima, and these two lovelies are Garlo and Scarlet." she said softly, gesturing to each Pokemon as she said their names. Scarlet gave a friendly wave while Garlo simply nodded, still on guard in case they where to threaten his trainer.

Three heads raised up suddenly. Garlo's large body jerked, heads whipping around, snarling as he picked up on unfamiliar scents. Najima tensed while Scarlet's inner-flame flared. The girl kept close by her Pokemon, narrowing her eyes and glancing at her surroundings warily before speaking. "Whoever's there, come out. I mean no harm unless you look to fight." she stated more then threatened, making it clear she was not out to fight for the fun of it.

"I'm not too sure why it would challenge us though. Pokemon usually stay far away from us." She mused with a soft sigh, Scarlet floating up to her, brightening softly to silently comfort her trainer. (Sorry for not responding, I had some stuff to do! My replies will be slower as I usually take my time while typing. I also don't know whats currently happening, as I'm not too keen on reading 13 pages)

From somewhere nearby a booming roar echoed. A flash of light was seen before a plum of smoke rose high into the air, visible for miles.

Najima stood, eyeing the fallen Pokemon. Garlo, her Hydreigon, flew in front of her, letting out a triumphant roar as the large Pokemon, a Mamoswine, fled. Beside her floated her Shiny Lampent, Scarlet, and Ylva, her baby Yveltal slept soundly in her bag.
