That is a reaaaaally weird bug.
I tried adopting first 5 Tentacool and then 6 Tentacool. Obviously the page stopped me ("you cannot adopt so many Fish-Pokémon in one day! ..."). Then I tried cheating a little by bypassing this frontend browser warning; and the adopt request went to the server.
The result: My "X more adoptions today" counter was decreased properly, but I didn't get the Tentacool. After refreshing, the counter was back to 5 and the Tentacool were still in my fish bag.

I don't know why the server is giving you more Fish than it is allowed - and my request is rejected. There is actually no way to bypass the backend on-server validation, it is definitely not depending on the browser.

A few other users (~15-20) have also exceeded their limit at least once, and I currently simply don't know how/why. (No one abused it in an extremely unfair way, though. Everyone only exceeded it by a little.)

Title: The bug is fixed! (not)

Update! Adopted 5 each of Magikarp and Gyarados, figured I'd start sifting through to see which are mega-able. Then looked at my fishbox again: it won't let me adopt anymore : )

Edit at 22:25ish, server time: just checked my fish box and it says I can adopt 10 more. So since there hasn't been enough time for a site reset...I'm 90% sure my counter's acting weird when I'm online/logged into PH now...instead of just by refreshing as I had before.

What a stumper.

Edit at 1:25, server time:

1) After adopting 5 Magikarp and 5 Gyarados


2) Grabbed the links for the 10 newly adopted Pokes (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10)

3) Took another screenshot. Going to test a theory and screenshot what happens an hour later.

4) Theory was correct, the counter has reset to 10 for some reason. Maybe it resets the counter hourly??

Title: The Bug Returns

Like a bad cold or something...

So I compared my fishing log and then looked to the links of the new adopted Pokés and...the bug appears to have returned, kinda?

Yesterday, I adopted this Totodile first.

Then I logged out, logged back in, saw that I could adopt 10 fish again:
Carvanha 1, 2, and 3
Gyarados 1, 2, and 3
Magikarp 1, 2, and 3
Squirtle

(Yes those may have evolved since being adopted, but the point still stands).

I can take screenshots and do another test, if it'll be required for a proper report o,ob

The bug's return only had a short life, because neither Argentis [who originally had the bug] nor I [who got the bug after an update] were able to adopt more than 10 fishies from the beach within 1 server day.
