My life:
Search through random people, look through their boxes, find any uft or trade boxes they have. See if there are any shinies there. 99% of the time the answer is no. If there is though, I quickly palpad them asking how much they sell the shinies for. 50% of the time they only accept palpads from friends.....

Shiny Magikarp and Gyrados -> 5-9k

Shiny Absol, Shuppet, Bannete, Riolu, Lucario, Shinx, Luxio, and Luxray -> 7-10k
