Pei tilts her head and attempts to speak, though only manages two incomprehensible syllables before erupting in a coughing fit with loud accompanying noises. It's only after the Pheromosa hits herself on the back that the dissonant coughs come to a stop.

Dove tried to think of something Pei could do.
“⋔⏃⊬⏚⟒ ⊬⍜⎍ ☊⏃⋏… ⍙⍀⟟⏁⟒? ⊑⟒⍀⟒, ⏁⍀⊬ ⍙⍀⟟⏁⟟⋏☌ ⏁⊑⟟⌇.” Dove wrote ‘hello, I’m Pei’ on a piece of paper, and gave Pei a pen.
“Maybe you can… write? here, try writing this.”

Thunder watched the whole situation, confused but hoping that Dove was sorting it out.

Pei looks at the piece of paper and then puts the tip of her right claw in her mouth, before writing the same sentence from above underneath. It was barely readable, she wrote it with a lot more edges and weird letters that were "bent" to resemble his. It's unclear, if she even knew what the words spelled out.

Spotting Thunder, she held the note towards them, not realizing it is upside down.
"⟟ ⋏⟒⎐⟒⍀ ⌰⟒⏃⍀⋏⟒⎅ ⏃⍀⏁..." "I never learned Art."

Pei gasps, almost offended. She hands the note to thunder, then turns to Dove while wetting the tip of her own claw with her mouth.

"⟟ ☊⏃⋏ ⍀⟒⏃⎅ ⏃⋏⎅ ⍙⍀⟟⏁⟒! ⍙⏃⏁☊⊑!"
"I can read and write! Watch!"

She then writes on a nearby tree, a language that does not resemble any terrestrial one whatsoever. She puts a hand on her hip and finishes her weird fruit with the other, proud of herself. A little self-affirming tune of her follows, with a smile to boot.

Pei heard her name mentioned. Well, it was in their language but it sounded closest to her name. Slowly and trying to compromise, she points at herself.

"⌿⟒⟟."
"Pei."

Then, while leaning forward, she points at Thunder with a slightly tilted head.

Pei blinks a few times, she neither understood, nor visualize anything with that word. Instead, she goes through her junk pile again and hands Thunder a little token of what she thinks friendship is like: An odd-looking brick that looks like a "very courageous christmas cake" that smells almost aggressively sweet. The fruits that were smashed into it do not look like anything local.

A quick move of Pei's hand even splits it in two, as she offers the other half to Dove.

Dove and Thunder both took their parts, and smiled.
Thunder gave Pei a plushie, it was a sleeping Nickit.
“A gift, it is a plushie, for hugging” Thunder looked at Dove so he could translate it to Pei
“⏃ ☌⟟⎎⏁, ⟟⏁ ⟟⌇ ⏃ ⌿⌰⎍⌇⊑⟟⟒, ⎎⍜⍀ ⊑⎍☌☌⟟⋏☌” Dove explained what Thunder had said to Pei

Pei stares at the Nickit plush for a while, almost mesmerized by it. She hugs the plush, it sinks into her hip disc and a little high-pitched sound came out of her.
