Sometimes when I toss a coin into the emera fountain, I get an increased shiny chance. How long does this chance last and is it permanent?

I think it lasts only until the end of the server day, and it applies to eggs when they hatch (so if you obtain an egg on shiny boost day but hatch it on the next day, it wont count). I could be wrong though on the last part
