"I'm sorry," The Doctor looked at the teenage boy, "but she might not recover from her coma. She'll have the next half hour on life support, but after that we're taking her off. It won't be long from then." He looked to his notes, the girl's medical records and paperwork showing she had just gone through a terrible accident, it killing both her parents and putting her into a coma. Leaving her with no one but her boyfriend left.

"T-There's nothing you can do?" his voice was sorrowful, depressed as he spoke to the doctor whom had told him the horrific news. "You can't even try to save her?" A spike of anger shone form his eyes, tears dripping down his face as stared at the girl's hand. He held it between his hands, his fingers intertwined with hers. The doctor shook his head regretfully as he turned and left the room, closing the door behind himself.

"Why.. Why did this have to happen to you?" The teen sobbed onto the bed, his hands closed around the girl's. He looked up at her, cuts and bruises on her face from the impact of the car accident. Looking away from her and towards the clock, he noticed something in the corner of the room, a floating lantern-like Pokemon. A Lampent? the boy thought, curious on why he was seeing it hide in the corner as though it was guilty of something.

Pulling out his Pokedex from his pocket, he searched up the pokemon only to have the feeling of his heart being ripped out. The spirits it absorbs fuel its baleful fire. It hangs around hospitals waiting for people to pass on. He looked up at the ghostly Pokemon, its eyes directing away from him quickly. He knew it couldn't help it, it was only something of pure instinct and survival for the Pokemon Species. A nurse knocked on the door, then motioned for the teen to move back as she went and unplugged the life support, leaving the girl to go on her way. Watching the Lampent as it remained silent and motionless, time passed by rather slow.

As the next hour went by, each minute feeling slower than the last, the Lampent inched closer and closer to the girl in the hospital bed, it's eyes watching the boy as he too, stared at it. When time finally was up, it floated above the girl's body, it seeming to suck the soul and spirit right from her. The teen watched, amazed and sad, as he saw the shimmering faint white left from the girl's mouth, following a path up to the Lampent. He started to cry, knowing his girlfriend, his lover was gone now.

The Lampent turned, heading towards the doorway as the boy jumped up, running to stand in front of the doorway as tears ran down his face. "N-No.." he cried. "Y-You can't l-leave!" Grabbing an empty Pokeball from his belt, he touched the Lampent with it, hoping to not lose his True Love to a wild Pokemon he'd never see again. While he watched the ball fall to the ground and shake back and forth, he fell to his knees and started crying when it showed that the Lampent and his True Love were right there with him and never to leave his side.
